WELCOME TO WORSHIP! If you are a first-time guest, we invite you to complete a guest card from a pew pocket or the Friendship Register and drop it in the offering plate so that we may get acquainted with you. Also, text “Explore” to 816-355-4736. We would like to communicate with you via text and email with some brief informational messages over the next few weeks. Your information is private and will not be used for any other purpose than to keep you informed about 2BC. Please see an usher if you’d like a listening aid.
GETTING CONNECTED AT 2BC Each Sunday in the Welcome Center (just inside the Kansas Street entrance on Level 1), Our Hospitality Team is waiting to help you get connected. This may include finding a Bible study class, showing you where children and student ministries meet, or sharing the day’s activities and schedule. You may also enjoy a cup of coffee at the Welcome Center’s coffee bar and get to know others at Second.
Your Entire Family is Welcome! Children’s worship bags, filled with books and activities, are available at the Sanctuary entrances. If you’d like an alternative for your children, childcare for birth through Pre-K is available on Level 2 at any point in the service. Our Welcome Center is also available for those with restless infants, and you can view the service on a monitor there.
MEDITATION Take a moment to prepare your heart for worship The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
ONLINE/SMARTPHONE GIVING In addition to placing your offering in the offering plate, you can give online at 2bcliberty.org/give or via your smartphone by scanning this QR code. We have “online giving” cards in the pew rack that you can place in the offering plate to represent your gift if you choose.

APRIL 2017 MONTHLY A NOTE FROM PASTOR JASON
Believe in Resurrection
Together, we believe that Easter has changed everything. But, do you believe it? Do you believe it with your hands? Do you believe it in your heart? Do you believe it with your family? Do you believe it with your neighbors? Do you believe it personally? Do you believe it professionally? Do you believe it philosophically and in practice? In one of my favorite poems, Wendell Berry invites his readers to believe it in practice—to practice resurrection, and to do it in the most practical of ways. Here are a few of my favorite passages from Berry’s Mad Farmer Liberation Front for your Eastering consideration:
So, friends, every day do something that won’t compute. Love the Lord. Love the world. Work for nothing. Take all that you have and be poor. Love someone who does not deserve it…
close, and hear the faint chattering of the songs that are to come. Expect the end of the world. Laugh. Laughter is immeasurable. Be joyful though you have considered all the facts…
Ask the questions that have no answers. Invest in the millennium. Plant sequoias. Say that your main crop is the forest that you did not plant, that you will not live to harvest. Say that the leaves are harvested when they have rotted into the mold. Call that profit. Prophesy such returns.
Go with your love to the fields. Lie down in the shade. Rest your head in her lap. Swear allegiance to what is nighest your thoughts. As soon as the generals and the politicos can predict the motions of your mind, lose it. Leave it as a sign to mark the false trail, the way Put your faith in the two inches of humus you didn’t go. Be like the fox that will build under the trees who makes more tracks than necessary, every thousand years. some in the wrong direction. Listen to carrion – put your ear Practice resurrection. As we continue to move toward the celebration of the culmination and quintessence of all that we believe, may these words prompt us. May we practice resurrection.

As a speaker and author, Alicia places words like an artist applying paint to a canvas. Nothing is wasted. Every word matters. Heads and hearts are equally engaged. Alicia holds a doctorate in leadership and spiritual formation from George Fox Evangelical Seminary. In addition to writing and speaking, she is the founding director of Leadership Investment Intensives, Inc., a non-profit devoted to providing personal soul-care to leaders in the marketplace and church.
Alongside her husband, she stewards a lakeside prayer retreat home called Rivendell in Branson and parents their three children in the Ozarks of Missouri where the stars shine brightly and their dogs bark loudly.
A “second cup of tea event will follow the luncheon for parents of children with special needs. Alicia and her husband have adopted three children with special needs and she has a high passion for caring for parents’ emotional and spiritual needs as they walk through this amazing experience. Reservations for this event are also required but there is no additional charge. Childcare is available but must be reserved for both the luncheon and the after event.

BAPTIST NEWS GLOBAL Baptist News Global, as a brand, was born Oct. 13, 2014. But the brand genesis was a merger Jan. 1, 2014, of Associated Baptist Press, founded in 1990 as the only independent news service created by and for Baptists, and the Religious Herald, founded in 1828 as the voice of Baptists in Virginia and, in recent years, the Mid-Atlantic. The Baptist News Global brand communicates the vision and scope of the news organization while also positioning BNG to explore additional alliances and collaborative agreements in the future. We know them as a partner organization within CBF life. David Wilkinson is the Executive Director & Publisher. Their board will meet in our building, April 23-25. Our own Jimmy Nickell was a long time board member and will be honored for his years of service and contributions to their work at a banquet on Sunday evening.
