If you are a first-time guest, please complete a guest card from a pew pocket or Friendship Register and drop it in the offering plate so that we may get acquainted with you. Also, text “Explore” to 816-355-4736. We would like to communicate with you via text and email with some brief informational messages over the next few weeks. Please see an usher if you’d like a listening aid. Each Sunday in the Welcome Center (just inside the Kansas Street entrance on Level 1), our Hospitality Team is waiting to help you get connected. This may include finding a Bible study class, showing you where children and student ministries meet, or sharing the day’s activities and schedule. You may also enjoy a cup of coffee at the Welcome Center’s coffee bar and get to know others at Second.
Take a moment to prepare your heart for worship…
When you strip it of everything else, Pentecost stands for power and life. That's what came into the church when the Holy Spirit came down on the day of Pentecost. - David Wilkerson
Your entire family is welcome here! Children’s worship bags filled with books and activities are available at the Sanctuary entrances. If you’d like an alternative for your children, childcare for birth through Pre-K is available on Level 2 at any point in the service. Our Welcome Center is also available for those with restless infants, and you can view the service on a monitor there. In addition to placing your offering in the offering plate, you can give online at 2bcliberty.org/give or via your smartphone by scanning this QR code. We have “online giving” cards in the pew rack that you can place in the offering plate to represent your gift if you choose.

PERSONNEL UPDATE A letter from Allan Aunspaugh: Church Family, For nearly 13 years, it has been a privilege to serve as your Minister of Music. Over the last few years, however, the church and I have drifted apart when it comes to our priorities and practices for accomplishing the church's mission. This is why the personnel committee asked me to take some time for discernment to assess my ministry. Although I've never wanted to contemplate an end to serving at Second Baptist Church, that time has come. So it is with a heavy heart that I submit my resignation as Minister of Music effective May 10, 2016. This congregation has been an important part of our family life for more than three decades. I am so grateful for the ways you have supported me and my ministry among you and for the ways you have loved and nurtured Anne and our girls. We look forward to your continued friendship. A note from the Personnel Committee: We are grateful for Allan’s many years of dedicated service to Second Baptist Church. As Allan indicated in his resignation letter, over the last few years, the church and Allan had drifted apart when it came to priorities and practices accomplishing the church's mission. As a result, the Personnel Committee asked Allan to take some time for discernment to assess his ministry. The decision to ask Allan to take some time to assess his ministry was not something the Personnel Committee took lightly, but the Committee unanimously agreed it was the right thing to do, given circumstances that had arisen over the last few years. During that time of discernment, Allan chose to resign. We have agreed with Allan not to go into further detail regarding the situation. Look for more information from the Leadership Development Committee in coming weeks regarding the formation of a search committee for our next Minister of Music and plans for the interim. We wish Allan well wherever his ministry takes him in the future, and we look forward to celebrating his ministry at Second with a reception for the entire church family at a date in the near future.
