If you are a first-time guest, we invite you to complete a guest card from a pew pocket or the Friendship Register and drop it in the offering plate so that we may get acquainted with you. Also, text “Explore” to 816-355-4736. We would like to communicate with you via text and email with some brief informational messages over the next few weeks. Your information is private and will not be used for any other purpose than to keep you informed about 2BC. Please see an usher if you’d like a listening aid. Each Sunday in the Welcome Center (just inside the Kansas Street entrance on Level 1), our Hospitality Team is waiting to help you get connected. This may include finding a Bible study class, showing you where children and student ministries meet, or sharing the day’s activities and schedule. You may also enjoy a cup of coffee at the Welcome Center’s coffee bar and get to know others at Second.
Children’s worship bags, filled with books and activities, are available at the Sanctuary entrances. If you’d like an alternative for your children, childcare for birth through Pre-K is available on Level 2 at any point in the service. Our Welcome Center is also available for those with restless infants, and you can view the service on a monitor there.
In addition to placing your offering in the offering plate, you can give online at 2bcliberty.org/give or via your smartphone by scanning this QR code. We have “online giving” cards in the pew rack that you can place in the offering plate to represent your gift if you choose.

Take a moment to prepare your heart for worship Love is God’s very essence. Everything else is a manifestation of this essence to us, a relationship between this essence and us. This is the absolute; everything else is relative to it. Peter Kreeft Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, Communion without confession, absolution without personal confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate. Costly grace is the treasure hidden in the field; for the sake of it a man will gladly go and sell all that he has. It is the pearl of great price to buy which the merchant will sell all his goods. It is the kingly rule of Christ, for whose sake a man will pluck out the eye which causes him to stumble, it is the call of Jesus Christ at which the disciple leaves his nets and follows him. Costly grace is the gospel which must be sought again and again, the gift which must be asked for, the door at which a man must knock. Such grace is costly because it calls us to follow, and it is grace because it calls us to follow Jesus Christ. It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life. It is costly because it condemns sin, and grace because it justifies the sinner. Above all, it is costly because it cost God the life of his Son: "ye were bought at a price," and what has cost God much cannot be cheap for us. Above all, it is grace because God did not reckon his Son too dear a price to pay for our life, but delivered him up for us. Costly grace is the Incarnation of God. Deitrich Bonhoeffer

ME2 TUESDAY LUNCH BUNCH In the summer on Tuesdays, a staff member will choose a restaurant and meet you at 11:30 for a pay-your-own lunch. Everyone is invited. No reservations required—we'll see you this summer around town for lunch! July 18 | Hunan | Connie McNeill July 25 | Huey’s | Gwen Phillps FINDING GOD IN THE SHACK Sundays June 25-July 23 | 9:45| Social Room You may have read the book or seen the movie and it raised several theological questions for you. You aren’t alone! Come, bring your questions and join the conversation. Led by Jeff Langford. I SEE YOU This spring Second hosted Khalid Hussain and Laeeq Tahirkheli, M.D. from the Islamic Center of the Northland as a part of our special study called “I See You.” The goal was to engage in conversations that would help us to really see them and the people of their faith tradition so that we will strive for justice, mercy and humility for all people—not just those whom we have learned to see because they “look” like us but those whom we must learn to see in new, more meaningful and human ways. Khalid and Laeeq would not accept a stipend or reimbursement for travel. They asked instead that we make some kind of gift to the Islamic Center of the Northland that would represent Second and the effort we were making in this special study. Emmy Gregory took on the assignment of creating a painting that we could present to the Center. Below is a picture of that painting done by a very talented artist whom we are proud to call a 2BC family member! You can see the actual painting in the Welcome Center today. Please use only your eyes to enjoy the painting and protect the artwork by refraining from touching it.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT MEALS TEAM ENLISTMENT FOR 2017-2018 We need to add at least two more teams this year. Teams will be responsible for four meals through the end of the year and five meals in 2018. Teams use a budget to choose the menu, purchase the food, prepare and serve the meal at 5:30 p.m.. We have a paid dishwasher each week, so teams do not need to worry about cleanup. The fellowship around the tables always starts the Wednesday night programming on a good note. If you are willing to form a team or to be a part of a team, contact Mike. There will be a brief meeting Sunday morning July 23 at 9:15 a.m. in the Social Room for those interested, and more information will be available.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2017 Vacation Bible School has come and gone and we are still reeling with excitement! We enjoyed 213 kiddos and about 80 volunteers throughout the week and it just could not have been so successful without your help. From making tables with humans in Imagination Station (see Facebook for a picture) to thoughtful discussions in the Bible Discovery time, we have had a blast. We enjoyed games on the parking lot and we shared some special moments as the children talked about the amazing things God has made and done for us. Your donations were priceless this week—from vanilla wafers to duct tape, we used it all! Thank you for your support, enthusiasm and encouragement. I’m so grateful to be a part of this church family!
