If you are a first-time guest, we invite you to complete a guest card from a pew pocket or the Friendship Register and drop it in the offering plate so that we may get acquainted with you. Also, text “Explore” to 816-355-4736. We would like to communicate with you via text and email with some brief informational messages over the next few weeks. Your information is private and will not be used for any other purpose than to keep you informed about 2BC. Please see an usher if you’d like a listening aid. Each Sunday in the Welcome Center (just inside the Kansas Street entrance on Level 1), Our Hospitality Team is waiting to help you get connected. This may include finding a Bible study class, showing you where children and student ministries meet, or sharing the day’s activities and schedule. You may also enjoy a cup of coffee at the Welcome Center’s coffee bar and get to know others at Second.

Take a moment to prepare your heart for worship Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that. Martin Luther King Jr. It may be that you are not yourself luminous, but that you are a conductor of light. Some people, without possessing genius, have a remarkable power of stimulating it. Arthur Conan Doyle Love is not consolation. It is light.

Simone Weil

Children’s worship bags, filled with books and activities, are available at the Sanctuary entrances. If you’d like an alternative for your children, childcare for birth through Pre-K is available on Level 2 at any point in the service. Our Welcome Center is also available for those with restless infants, and you can view the service on a monitor there.

In addition to placing your offering in the offering plate, you can give online at 2bcliberty.org/give or via your smartphone by scanning this QR code. We have “online giving” cards in the pew rack that you can place in the offering plate to represent your gift if you choose.

STEPHEN MINISTRY Our congregation's Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our church and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. If you are a caring and compassionate person, consider becoming a Stephen Minister. "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few" (Luke 10:2), and we need you for the labor of Stephen Ministry.

SOJOURNERS Are you familiar with Jim Wallis and Sojourners? Several of you have expressed interest in having more conversations about justice issues. Are you one of those folks? If so, please go to sojo.net and check out the conversations that could occur in a small group focused on these issues. If three or four individuals are interested, we will form a study group around the topic of justice. The group will not be limited to this website or these subjects as other resources are available. Groups will meet at the time and place of the group’s choosing or online. Email Connie McNeill at cmcneill@2bcliberty.org, and let her know if you are interested. MISSIONS SEND INITIATIVE ROMANIA Our "Heartland Quilters" group will be returning to Romania for our third and final trip September 1. It has been so heartwarming and exciting to see the progress they had made since our first trip two years ago. The ladies have advanced so far in their quilting skills and especially in their

confidence. New friendships are made, nurtured and grown! It will be hard to say "Goodbye" to these wonderful ladies, knowing that, most likely, we will never see them again! 2BC has been so generous in supporting these trips with contributions of quilting supplies and donations of monetary resources. I'm praying that you will help one last time. Our mission partners in Romania have requested the following Coordinated "elegant" fabrics for pillow covers, aprons, tote bags, and quilts. If you'd like to donate this type of material, it would be appreciated. Many Hands Fair Trade Shop will sell many of these products. Monetary donations will be used to purchase fabric, batting and other supplies that can be bought in Romania, alleviating the necessity to pay extra baggage charges. Glue sticks are another donation need. They are used for appliquĂŠ projects, reducing the need for the much more expensive bonding material which adheres appliquĂŠ pieces to background pieces before sewing. One-hundred-percent cotton quilt fabrics in small prints for nativity table runners and pillow covers. Brown and yellow prints were specifically requested. Rotary cutters and blades (available in the sewing section at Walmart and other fabric stores). Juvenile prints for this year's baby bib projects. Gift bag items for quilters, cooks, and translators, such as nail polish, combs, brushes, etc. We still have an abundance of toiletry items from your generosity the last two years, so those particular items are unneeded at this time. Thank you for your past years' donations. I'm proud to say that 2BC has been the most generous, by far, of any of the quilters' home churches. Many of our Romanian quilters are single parents or in abusive relationships with alcoholic spouses, and the quilters are in desperate need of supplementing their household income. A basket will be placed in the Welcome Center for the collection of donated items and will be labeled "Heartland Quilters' Mission Trip." If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, Roxann

Brenton, at 781-4430 or by email at galofliberty@yahoo.com.

More than anything, we covet your prayers for safe travel, especially considering the instability of many areas of our world. AND we request prayers for deepened relationships with our Roma friends, so their hearts will be filled with the same love that we have of our Lord and Savior! Thank you so much for your support! Donations deadline is Sunday, August 27, for our departure September 1. STUDENTS
