If you are a first-time guest, please complete a guest card from a pew pocket or Friendship Register and drop it in the offering plate so that we may get acquainted with you. Also, text “Explore” to 816-355-4736. We would like to communicate with you via text and email with some brief informational messages over the next few weeks. Please see an usher if you’d like a listening aid. Each Sunday in the Welcome Center (just inside the Kansas Street entrance on Level 1), our Hospitality Team is waiting to help you get connected. This may include finding a Bible study class, showing you where children and student ministries meet, or sharing the day’s activities and schedule. You may also enjoy a cup of coffee at the Welcome Center’s coffee bar and get to know others at Second. Children’s worship bags filled with books and activities are available at the Sanctuary entrances. If you’d like an alternative for your children, childcare for birth through Pre-K is available on Level 2 at any point in the service. Our Welcome Center is also available for those with restless infants, and you can view the service on a monitor there. In addition to placing your offering in the offering plate, you can give online at 2bcliberty.org/give or via your smartphone by scanning this QR code. We have “online giving” cards in the pew rack that you can place in the offering plate to represent your gift if you choose.

Take a moment to prepare your heart for worship…

“I slept and I dreamed that life is all joy. I woke and I saw that life is all service. I served and I saw that service is joy.” – Kahlil Gibran “You can give without loving, but you can never love without giving.” – Robert Louis Stevenson “I must be willing to give whatever it takes to do good to others. This requires that I be willing to give until it hurts.” – Mother Teresa

Communion at Second Baptist Church is open to all who profess Jesus Christ as Savior. Our Communion Bread is always gluten-free. Intinction Instructions This morning we will celebrate communion by intinction. During the service, you will be invited to exit your pew to the right, walk to one of the stations, take a piece of bread, dip it into the cup, and then return to the left.

OPEN HOUSE TODAY AT NOON!

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen

IT’S SOCKTOBER! Throughout the entire month of October we are collecting donations of socks for an organization here in Kansas City whose mission is to provide shelter and comprehensive services to women and children who are survivors of domestic violence. We have learned that one of their biggest donation needs is socks, so at every student event, we’ll be collecting. We encourage each student to bring at least one package of socks during the month. The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is involved in Haiti, the Bahamas, Cuba, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina. "The loss of life and property in the path of Hurricane Matthew is heartbreaking," said David Harding, CBF's International Disaster Response Coordinator. "Plans are being developed with CBF field personnel Jenny Jenkins in Haiti to meet basic needs such as food, water and shelter, and to

restore livelihoods such as productive gardens that were blown away." In addition, CBF Florida is working with its partners throughout the Caribbean and Florida to begin the process of rebuilding churches, homes and communities. CARE FOR SELDOM SEEN MEMBERS Good Shepherds is a ministry serving 30-40 people who we don’t see often because of age or health or because they live in care centers. A Good Shepherd makes contact by phone or sending cards during the year, then passes along any helpful information needed as we continue to give care. Our Deacons also have a quarterly contact with those we care for and have offered communion and made personal visits. If you would be interested, contact Mike at mlassiter@2bcliberty.org.

PERSONNEL NOTE

A NOTE FROM NICOLE SWANSON... It has been such a blessing for me to get to serve the 2BC family in the Communications area. When I started contracting with 2BC in 2014, it was for several hours a week as part of a team, but I was glad to help out by increasing my time and responsibilities when the need arose in the summer of 2015. Now, to bring my time back in line with what our priorities are as a family, I’m stepping back from the daily/weekly responsibilities of the communication area, but I will look forward to continuing my relationship with Second as a contractor, particularly on larger design projects. I’m planning to be in the office through the end of November, and hope to get to help train the new person who will come on board to serve you. I thank you for welcoming me so warmly into your faith family! I was a bit of a late-comer to the church scene, and so I’ve only ever attended one church. I’ve counted it a privilege to get to learn how another church community functions, provides hospitality, worships, serves and makes disciples. I love my 2BC friends very much!
