If you are a first-time guest, please complete a guest card from a pew pocket or Friendship Register and drop it in the offering plate so that we may get acquainted with you. Also, text “Explore” to 816-355-4736. We would like to communicate with you via text and email with some brief informational messages over the next few weeks. Please see an usher if you’d like a listening aid. Each Sunday in the Welcome Center (just inside the Kansas Street entrance on Level 1), our Hospitality Team is waiting to help you get connected. This may include finding a Bible study class, showing you where children and student ministries meet, or sharing the day’s activities and schedule. You may also enjoy a cup of coffee at the Welcome Center’s coffee bar and get to know others at Second. Children’s worship bags filled with books and activities are available at the Sanctuary entrances. If you’d like an alternative for your children, childcare for birth through Pre-K is available on Level 2 at any point in the service. Our Welcome Center is also available for those with restless infants, and you can view the service on a monitor there. In addition to placing your offering in the offering plate, you can give online at 2bcliberty.org/give or via your smartphone by scanning this QR code.

Take a moment to prepare your heart for worship…

Left to ourselves we lapse into a kind of collusion with entrophy, acquiescing in the general belief that things may be getting worse but that there's nothing much we can do about them. And we are wrong. Our task in the present...is to live as resurrection people in between Easter and the final day, with our Christian life, corporate and individual, in both worship and mission, as a sign of the first and a foretaste of the second. ― N.T. Wright Social responsibility becomes an aspect not of Christian mission only, but also of Christian conversion. It is impossible to be truly converted to God without being thereby converted to our neighbor. ― John R.W. Stott Do you not know that God entrusted you with your financial resources (all above what buys necessities for your families) to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to help the stranger, the widow, the fatherless; and, indeed, as far as it will go, to relieve the wants of all humankind? ― John Wesley

We have “online giving” cards in the pew rack that you can place in the offering plate to represent your gift if you choose.

Leader: We are a part of a larger Christian community. Today we celebrate our commitment to bear witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ across our nation and around our world through our commitment to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. We can do more when we do it together. Congregation: If then there is any encouragement in Christ, any consolation from love, any sharing in the Spirit, any compassion and sympathy, make my joy complete: be of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Philippians 2:1-2 Leader: In our beginning, there was a sense of wonder at what was happening among us and through us. We were participating in the creation of something much bigger than ourselves, and we were not the primary architects. by Daniel Vestal, former CBF Coordinator for 20 years Congregation: Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.” Mark 10:29-31 Leader: Being reduced to zero – starting completely over – was the price of the call to be a missionary. Saying goodbye to family and friends, giving away possessions and privilege also means losing a part of yourself, your identity. It means becoming a new person, an immigrant. by Kim and Marc Wyatt, CBF Missionaries

Congregation: I was a stranger and you welcomed me. I was naked and you gave me clothing. I was sick and you took care of me. I was in prison and you visited me. Matthew 25:35-36 Leader: We find ourselves sometimes in places we did not choose, but we know we are right where we need to be. So we will continue to love – even when it is hard – because we know that grace and freedom abound through love. CBF has taken us to amazing places and has led us to face some of the most difficult situations in our life. The journey is long and hard and worth every step. by Tina Bailey, CBF Missionary Congregation: For the love of Christ compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all. 2 Corinthians 5:14 Leader: It was Christ’s love for all the world that compelled me. At one CBF gathering, I hoisted my open umbrella as a symbol that we must shelter the people of missions from the storms pounding them. Then I turned the umbrella upside down, like a basket – a symbol that we had to collect support for missions to lead where Christ was calling. by Catherine Allen, Mission Pastor Congregation: Let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up. So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith. Galatians 6:9-10

Leader: We can use our voices to proclaim the gospel truth of transformation, reconciliation and redemption. Perhaps the most unique element of Christian advocacy is that this work is not motivated by self-interest, but instead is directed by God’s movement in the world. by Katie Ferguson Murray, CBF Christian Advocacy Specialist Congregation: Do we need letters of introduction to and from each other? No, you are the entire letter we need, a letter written on our heart. It is plain that you are a letter that has come from Christ, a letter with the Spirit of the living God, written not on stone tablets but on the pages of the human heart. 2 Corinthians 3:1-3 All: We can be alone, or we can be a Fellowship. +Hymn 692 Prayers of the People Worship in Music

If you would be interested, contact Mike at mlassiter@2bcliberty.org. MISSIONS CHRISTMAS STORE TAGS ARE READY TO BE PICKED UP! We'll also enjoy some campfire songs, a few field games, and top it off with s'mores toasted around our humongous (but still safe, incredibly safe) fire. Would you provide one of these crockpot-style meals? For more information, click the link at 2bcliberty.org/students. PERSONNEL NOTE A NOTE FROM NICOLE SWANSON... It has been such a blessing for me to get to serve the 2BC family in the Communications area. When I started contracting with 2BC in 2014, it was for several hours a week as part of a team, but I was glad to help out by increasing my time and responsibilities when the need arose in the summer of 2015. Now, to bring my time back in line with what our priorities are as a family, I’m stepping back from the daily/weekly responsibilities of the communication area, but I will look forward to continuing my relationship with Second as a contractor, particularly on larger design projects. I’m planning to be in the office through the end of November, and hope to get to help train the new person who will come on board to serve you. I thank you for welcoming me so warmly into your faith family! I was a bit of a late-comer to the church scene, and so I’ve only ever attended one church. I’ve counted it a privilege to get to learn how another church community functions, provides hospitality, worships, serves and makes disciples. I love my 2BC friends very much!
