Coming Up @ 2BC

Church-Wide

Are You a 'Fix-it' Person?

Meeting Sunday, Jan. 24 | 6 p.m. | Library Have you noticed something at church that needs to be cared for, a light bulb that needs to be changed or a place on the carpet that needs to be cleaned? There are many opportunities to be involved with maintenance items at our church. There are also projects waiting on someone to come take care of them. Linda Jones, Church Administrator and Larry Gregory, Property Manager are hosting a meeting on Sunday, Jan. 24, at 6pm in the Library. We would love for you to come talk with us about your interest in taking projects, covering maintenance items or picking up small tasks that need to be done.

Coffee With the Pastor

Jan. 31 | 9:45 a.m. | Oak Room (301) Are you new to 2BC or just want to get better aquainted? Join Pastor Jason Edwards and a few members of Second Baptist Church for an informal coffee at 9:45 a.m. in the Oak Room 301. Ask questions and chat about Second Baptist, how things work and anything you might want to know as you become more familiar with the faith family at Second.

Church Conference Meeting/Lunch

Sunday, Jan. 31 | noon | Social Room You have a great opportunity to learn more about the important work 2BC is doing when you attend our next quarterly Church Conference meeting. Lunch will be provided, and church members will have a chance to catch up on church business. No RSVP is needed; a $5 donation will be accepted for lunch.

Children’s Ministry Valentine’s Party

On Sunday, Jan. 31, our students will lead both the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. services. Students will be involved in every element of each service: reading scripture, offering prayers, leading music, giving homilies, and using their skills and talents to help guide a meaningful worship experience. The service will also feature music from our two handbell choirs as well as our vocal choir. We will have a rehearsal to walk through the service on Jan. 30 at 3:00 p.m. We would love for all our students to engage in at least one aspect of these services. Contact Charles Smith at csmith@2bcliberty.org if you'd like to participate.

High School Non-Stop Trip Feb. 12-14

Feb. 12-14 Minneapolis, MN | Cost: $75 February 12-14 (Fri.-Sun.) high school students will road trip to Minnesota to take in the sights including the Minneapolis Art Institute and the Mall of America. Minneapolis is about 6 hours away. We'll leave early Friday afternoon, spend all day Saturday touring Minneapolis, then head back to KC on Sunday morning. There is no school on Friday or Monday that weekend, so there will be recovery time built in. We'll spend the nights at a church in Minneapolis. Meals in MN will be covered by the $75 cost. Students will only need to bring money for meals on the road and any snacks or souvenirs they want buy in Minnesota. Visit 2bcliberty.org/seniorhigh to sign up!

Feb. 7 | 3:00 p.m. | 2BC For the past several years, our children have made valentines for the patients at Children’s Mercy Hospital. It’s been a great success, and we have contributed some awesome valentines for those kiddos who won’t be participating in a valentine party at their school. We will continue the tradition again this year! Children from K – fifth grade will meet in the Assembly Room on Sunday afternoon to create all sorts of wonderful cards and messages. No registration necessary...come join us!

STUDENT MINISTRY MEAL PROVIDERS Each Sunday, we provide a light breakfast and "snack supper" for the students at church, and we invite anyone in our church family to help! We have two spots to fill for each meal each week, so everyone will have a partner to team up with. As we prepare meals, we are conscious of food allergies. We avoid using nuts of any kind in our preparation and we try to provide alternative options (gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.) when possible. Visit 2bcliberty.org/serveat2bc to sign up on the VolunteerSpot website, or contact Charles Smith at csmith@2bcliberty.org or 781-2824.
