WEEKLY EditioN
Some have asked how we will respond to the devastating earthquake in Nepal. A couple of possibilities exist. Personal contributions can always be made through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s website: www. cbf/Nepal. CBF has sent Eddy Ruble, CBF field personnel from Malaysia, to survey the situation and meet local partners to hear firsthand the needs and situation both in Kathmandu and especially from the more rural outlying areas closer to the epicenter. He will be a great value at helping us respond effectively and get to work as needed, where needed. Things will evolve and change by the day and we will work to stay informed and share on their efforts and needs. Also, because we value the relationship part of relief or

development work, we have met with our Nepal team partners, Krishna and Anita Acharya with Everest Outreach. Krishna has worked with our own Loulla Efstathiou and her team who traveled to Nepal three times, specifically to work with Krishna’s organization and train public school teachers in Nepal for the last two years. Meetings are being coordinated with Krishna, Ed Chasteen, our 2BC Ambassador of Other Faiths, and other Nepalese people in Kansas City to listen and explore ways to respond effectively and the possibility of developing a local partnership and longer-term strategy to respond to needs. Additionally, we are working to connect Eddy Ruble with Krishna’s team in Nepal to offer mutual support and an opportunity to consider any benefit of collaboration on the ground in Nepal. Watch for updates!
