This summer our senior pastor, Jason Edwards, will seek renewal through a sabbatical leave. He and the personnel committee have worked hard to shape an experience for renewal. This will be very good work—for his family, his own person, and for us, the congregation he serves. The pastor’s renewal is only part of the way God would work here. God would also work in us, renewing us for all the same reasons. A team of 2BC members and staff have created a guide to help each of us journey toward renewal this summer. Renovatio is Latin for "renewal." As the earth models for us, renewal is essential to our existence. Our Renovatio Guide is designed to encourage us toward renewal, personally and in community, specifically by experiencing God through prayer. Renovatio will include special prayer guides for our adults, students, and kids. We’ll preview our summer of spiritual renewal on Wednesday night, May 20, with the guides launching on Sunday, May 31. Haiti Mission Team Medical Supplies Needed Place in the bin in the Welcome Center Marked "Haiti"
At the end of May, members from 2BC will travel to Haiti to serve on a CBF Medical Mission team. They will go out each day visiting rural villages and setting up clinics. You can help by donating the following items: kids multivitamins with iron (non-gummy) | liquid Benadryl/Claritin | gas drops | saline drops Items may be delivered to the Welcome Center and placed in the tubs marked for HAITI.
Special Summer Weekday Offerings
Psalms For Grand Adults | Fridays Starting June 5 | 10:30 a.m. | Social Room All our Grand Adults (seniors who really are grand!) are invited to a special summer offering of Bible study and fellowship. We will meet on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. in the Social Room for a study of Psalms. This beloved Old Testament book speaks to all dimensions of human life. Following the study, those interested will eat together at a pre-selected restaurant.
Oasis for Women | Wednesdays, June 3-July 1 | 10:00 a.m. to noon Ladies, are you interested in a special summer activity just for you? We will gather at the church and study the book The Day I Met Jesus: The Revealing Diaries of Five Women from the Gospels by Frank Viola and Mary Demuth. What if we had diaries from the woman caught in adultery, the prostitute who loved much, the desperate Samaritan woman, the woman with a flow of blood and the woman whom Jesus loved? By looking at these encounters and their stories in fresh ways, we will find renewed hope, faith, and love in our own stories and encounter with Jesus. After the study, we will have a mystery fun experience, directed by Suzie Boggess! Each week you will be told what you will need to bring with you. Some weeks may involve a small cost. There also will be childcare for ages birth through 5th grade for a small fee. Adults will be provided snacks, but please pack a snack for your children. Sunday Morning Bible Studies Offered in June! Sundays in June | 9:45-10:40 a.m. | Social Room-West side
The Lord and His Prayer by N. T. Wright. Wright is a world renowned professor of New Testament and early Christianity. This look at the Lord’s Prayer sums up what Jesus was all about in his first-century setting. He locates the prayer, clause by clause, within the historical life and work of Jesus. Tana Clement will lead this study.

We would love for you to be able to come celebrate 172 years on May 24! Schedule of events: 4:00 p.m. Softball, volleyball, playground, ultimate Frisbee, hanging out 5:30 p.m. Hot dogs and hamburgers, baked beans, chips, beverages (All provided!) 6:30 p.m. Birthday recognition. Dream Initiative // Funding
As part of Catalyst 2.0, Second Baptist set aside vision community $20,000 for the Dream Initiative 2015-2016. Once a decision is made at the funding retreat, a process will also be included to uncover and recommend at our follow up meeting in September for the final release of funding. Imagine the energy that could be generated!

DECATUR, Ga. — Together with a network of Baptist groups from around the world, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship continues to provide relief to the victims of the April 25 earthquake in Nepal. That 7.8-magnitude earthquake killed more than 7,350 people, injured thousands more. On Tuesday, another large earthquake struck Nepal, leaving at least 36 people dead and injuring more than 1,100, according to the Nepalese government.
