Sunday Mornings with Us . . .
ABOUT THE RETREAT What happens to faith when “religion” becomes a bad word? When there are more unaffiliated Americans than there are Roman Catholics, mainline Protestants, or evangelical Protestants? Everything changes, that’s what happens. Join Diana Butler Bass, author of Christianity After Religion, for a weekend of thinking about the world outside of church, looking at trends and topics that are influencing our own spiritual lives and our communities of faith.
FRIDAY, JUNE 6
6:00 p.m. – Dinner 6:40 p.m. – Opening Music & Activity 7:00 p.m. – Session One with Diana Butler Bass The “Nones” and the Nuns Getting On and Off the Faith Bus In this lecture, Diana unpacks movements and trends in American religion, with an eye toward how these trends play themselves out in our lives, churches, and society. We’ll particularly explore trends among younger American adults toward leaving church and the growth of religious pluralism. 8:00 p.m. – Small group discussion 9:00 p.m. – Retreat conclude for evening

Bridger, SD | July 26–31
While there are always small rehab projects at the Bridger church and the community we like to support, we also want to spend time on this trip tutoring children each day, facilitating a rummage sale and having a community meal. This year we are also looking for someone(s) to be in charge of the meals. If you have an interest in joining the group going this summer or have questions about the trip, contact Mike Lassiter by June 1 (mlassiter@2bcliberty.org). For those already committed to go on this mission trip, we will have a short meeting after worship Sunday, July 13.
Additional Reserved Parking Have You Noticed? Working with the Safety Team and Larry Gregory, a plan was developed that will aid in providing additional reserved parking for the handicapped and those with limited mobility.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY It’s Spring!
Haven’t we all enjoyed the beautiful trees, shrubs, and flowers around the neighborhood? Seems like everything is blooming spectacularly this year! Have you ever wondered who cares for the grounds around our building? Would you be willing to take over the care of our stunning roses, shrubs or flowers?
Have a Little Faith
Senior High Students Wednesdays | 7:00 p.m. If we are not careful, we can easily live in our own little cultural bubble and hang out with people who are just like us. This is especially true when it comes to Christians. We tend to hang out with just other Christians. However, our world is increasingly pluralistic and that is something to be celebrated and embraced. This summer the Senior High students (9-12th grade) are going to talk about other faiths. We are going to do this in a way that is respectful and kind, but we are also going to be open and honest about the ways that Christianity both agrees and disagrees with other faith perspectives.
SCHEDULE: June 4 // The Life of Pi (Twenter Home: 731 Cottonwood Lane) June 11 // Buddhism (Stocksdale Park) June 18 // Lakota Spirituality (Bridger, SD) June 25 // Baptist (Englewood Baptist Church: 1900 Englewood Rd. Kansas City, MO) July 2 // Orthodox Judaism (Stouffer Home: 603 Camelot) July 9 // Islam (Location TBA) July 16 // Catholicism (Heston Home: 1419 Burch) July 23 // *Student Summer Camp* July 30 // Atheism (Tankersley Home: 429 Wilson St.)
Please prayerfully consider giving of your time and talents to help keep our grounds looking lovely. The job requires weeding, mulching, some TLC, and the occasional plant selection, but you don’t have to do it alone! Consider making this a family offering or set a weekly date with a couple of friends! Contact Suzie Boggess if you are interested in serving at sgboggess@aol.com or call the church office at (816) 781.2824
me2 Lunch BUNCH It’s that time of year again! This summer, our pastoral staff will be hosting lunch at various restaurants around the Liberty area and would love for you to join! Think of these lunches as a chance to get to know the 2BC staff better, a chance to meet other people from the 2BC congregation, and a chance to simply enjoy some yummy food around the area! Add these lunches to your calendar! We look forward to seeing you!
