YOU!
YOU are the final piece of the puzzle! We don't have a premade list of opportunities and concerns in our community...that's what we need you to bring from your experience and insight. Your thoughts and dreams about how to make the community of Liberty even better are crucial to this process! Are you an educator or just have a passion for all students to succeed? Do you work in public service or serve on community committees? Are you involved with ministries or agencies working with those on the margin?

Summer Weekday Bible Study Offerings
Psalms For Grand Adults | Fridays Starting June 5 | 10:30 a.m. | Social Room All our Grand Adults (seniors who really are grand!) are invited to a summer offering of Bible study and fellowship. We will meet on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. in the Social Room for a study of Psalms, led by Jerry Cain. This beloved Old Testament book speaks to all dimensions of human life. Following the study, those interested will eat together at a pre-selected restaurant.
Oasis for Women | Wednesdays, June 3-July 1 | 10:00 a.m. to noon Ladies, are you interested in a special summer activity just for you? We will gather at the church and study the book The Day I Met Jesus: The Revealing Diaries of Five Women from the Gospels by Frank Viola and Mary Demuth. What if we had diaries from the woman caught in adultery, the prostitute who loved much, the desperate Samaritan woman, the woman with a flow of blood and the woman whom Jesus loved? By looking at these encounters and their stories in fresh ways, we will find renewed hope, faith, and love in our own stories and encounter with Jesus. After the study, we will have a mystery fun experience, directed by Suzie Boggess! Each week you will be told what to bring, and some may involve a small cost. There will be childcare for birth through 5th grade for a small fee. Adults will be provided snacks, but please pack a snack for your children. To Register for these studies: contact Maggie Henderson at 816-781-2824 or mhenderson@2bcliberty.org.
Sunday Morning Bible Studies Offered in June Sundays in June | 9:45-10:40 a.m. | Social Room-West side
The Lord and His Prayer by N. T. Wright. Wright is a world renowned professor of New Testament and early Christianity. This look at the Lord’s Prayer sums up what Jesus was all about in his first-century setting. He locates the prayer, clause by clause, within the historical life and work of Jesus. Tana Clement will lead this study.
Thank You to Jerry Springs!
We have received Jerry Springs' letter of resignation effective May 29. Jerry is a nine and a half year employee who first came to 2BC in his custodial role January 1, 2006. Jerry has worked with two pastors and seen our facilities change and utilization grow exponentially. In addition to cleaning and upkeep, Jerry has been responsible to set rooms, dismantle them, prepare them for their next use, sometimes with a small window of time between events. Larry Gregory, our Property Manager, says of Jerry, “Jerry has been a real asset to our church because he cares. He cares about the individuals in our congregation, he cares about the building and he cares about things being done correctly.” Linda Jones, Jerry’s supervisor, said, “He often helps individual church members with things that are not in his job description, but he does it because this is his church and not merely a “job” to him. Above all, Jerry takes pride in his work and truly 'loves this building into shape.' It is not easy to keep a nearly 100-year-old building looking as good as it does. Hardly a week goes by when a visitor to this building doesn’t comment on how nice the building looks and how fortunate we are to have the person we have taking care of it. I wish him the best as he leaves us.” Jason concludes, “Jerry has lived and served faithfully among us, bringing dedication, kindness and heart to his particular calling within our church. He is family, he is loved, and his absence will be felt by us all.” To honor Jerry, would you write him a note of appreciation? Cards are distributed throughout the building, or you may choose a notecard of your own. Place completed notes in the basket on the reception desk in the Hospitality Center by Friday, May 29.
2BC and Team World Vision at the Kansas City Half/Full Marathon
2BC was one of five churches in the Kansas City metro to help launch the inaugural Team World Vision (TWV) for the Kansas City Marathon run, which this year will be October 17. TWV raises funds to provide clean water in Africa as runners who join the team “run for a cause." What happens if you join the 2BC team? If this is the first time you have considered running, there is a training schedule that will take you from the couch to either the half or full marathon. You will also receive a fundraising webpage from TWV for friends and others who want to donate. Beginning in July, a Northland group will have Saturday distance runs for anyone who wants to have the added boost of community as you train. You do not have to be a runner to join the team! At the initial meeting, Anne Weirich, the TWV representative, told us 80% of those who run are not runners but rather people who have a passion to see clean water available in every community possible in Africa. Why is this important to 2BC? From the early 2000s, 2BC partnered with a former church member from Nigeria, who returned to his country as a pastor, to bring water wells to 20 communities. Because of the turmoil in Nigeria in the last three years — which includes threats to Christians — he and his family had to relocate to Canada last fall, ending our ability to continue drilling wells. But the 2BC passion for clean water in our world has not changed, and World Vision has provided this opportunity. Their website, teamworldvision.org, explains how their water projects are sustainable, comprehensive and creative. Interested in joining the 2BC team? 1.
