Our annual Trunk 'R Treat is more than just a fun event for our 2BC family, it's a great opportunity to invite friends and neighbors who may not normally choose to visit church.

There are two ways you can help: Decorate your trunk and hand out candy This is key to the success of this event and our most important need right now. Take the "Church Health" Survey

Now-Oct. 18 | 2bcliberty.org/survey | Takes 10-15 minutes The leadership at Second Baptist is in continuous evaluation to ensure that the needs of our church community are being met. As a part of this process, 2BC is launching a survey that will be fielded several times a year to take the pulse of the community. The goal of this completely anonymous survey is to understand things that are going well and identify areas that need improvement. We are asking all who are 18 or older in our church community to complete this survey. Your opinions matter! We will use the feedback to impact ministries, programming and other areas of our church. This survey will close on Oct. 18, and we will share many of the findings in November.

Men's Breakfast

Oct. 17 | 9:30 a.m. | Social Room Men of all ages are invited for fun, fellowship and our traditional good eats! Breakfast is always a tasty treat with plenty of orange juice and coffee to go around. RSVP to Phil Posey at poseyannphil2@sbcglobal.net.

2BC Tailgate at WJC Football Game Oct. 24 | Starting at 10:30 a.m. | WJC Join your 2BC family for a tailgate at William Jewell College for the football game versus Truman State. The fun starts at 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot closest to the fountain and the Mill Street entrance. Bring a side dish and your lawn chairs. Hot dogs, hamburgers, lemonade, tea, and eating utensils provided. The game starts at noon.

General admission is $8, Jewell students/faculty/staff are free with ID, seniors and high school students and younger are $3, and children under 7 are free. The tailgate is hosted by Tori Figg. RSVP to the church office at 816-781-2824.

Church Conference Meeting/Lunch Sunday, Oct. 25 | noon | Social Room You have a great opportunity to learn more about the important work 2BC is doing when you attend our next quarterly Church Conference meeting. Lunch will be provided, and church members will have a chance to approve the Leadership Development committee members, hear a Catalyst 2.0 mid-point update, and catch up on other church business. No RSVP needed; a $5 donation will be accepted for lunch.

More Than 108 Lives Changed in Africa Over the last several months, 2BC has raised more than $5,400 to bring clean water to people in sub-Saharan Africa. Since $50 brings water to one person for life, that's more than 108 lives impacted! Our runners have been working hard in training and fundraising, several stepping out in faith to run a race for the first time.

The Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra will present “Requiem for the Living” by Dan Forrest. This wonderfully beautiful work will be a significant event for our church and community, especially for those with a spiritual or emotional need or difficult life situations.

School Connections Team Has Launched The Mission Committee has launched the School Connections Team, led by Debbie Lane, to help Second Baptist relate to the schools in our area in as a good partner for educating children. Discussions with Schumacher Elementary have already begun, as well as other Liberty public schools. While we hope this partnership is creative and encouraging to those who are educating our children, occasionally some simple needs are discovered that can’t always be handled by teachers, administrators, or the PTA.

Here are two current needs: "Bundle Up the Birds": Donate new or gently used coats of all sizes.

Schumacher Elementary: Children’s Halloween costumes are needed.

A Requiem, at its core, is a prayer for rest — traditionally for the deceased. The five movements of Dan Forrest's Requiem for the Living, (2013), however, form a narrative just as much for the living, and their own struggle with pain and sorrow, as for the dead.

Students

Fall Retreat at Miracle Hills Ranch Oct. 16-18 | Miracle Hills Ranch, Bethany, MO This retreat is a chance for students in 6th-12th grade to get away from the stress and busyness of everyday life and focus on things like relaxing in beautiful surroundings, enjoying the wonderful fall weather, making new friends, hanging out around a campfire, playing fun games, and discovering more about ourselves while growing in our faith. The cost is $75, which includes meals, lodging, and transportation.

Bring Your Own Pumpkin Oct. 25 | 6-8 p.m. | Social Room Sunday, October 25, during Innermission time from will be our annual Bring Your Own Pumpkin party (B.Y.O.P.)! We'll eat Halloween treats, watch Halloween movies and carve Jack O'Lanterns! Feel free to wear your Halloween costumes too! Start looking for that perfect pumpkin!

This free concert will inaugurate a new digital sound system recently installed in the theater. A 2BC vehicle will take anyone needing a ride.
