TRINITY SUNDAY | May 31, 2015
Welcome Guests If you are a first-time guest, please complete a guest card from a pew pocket or Friendship Register and drop it in the offering plate so that we may acknowledge your visit and get acquainted with you. We are glad you have joined us for worship today. ________________________ Meditation Do you wish to rise? Begin by descending. You plan a tower that will pierce the clouds? Lay first the foundation of humility. – Saint Augustine Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves. – Henry David Thoreau It’s only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth - and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up, we will then begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it was the only one we had. – Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

Sabbatical Commissioning Litany Eric:
Jason, as a community of faith, we send you out on a journey of faith.
People: We pray that God might bless you, Christy, Jackson, Luke and Norah during this sabbatical.
Jason:
God’s peace be with you as I leave to walk in new places. May you learn to love each other more deeply and to follow Christ more truly while I am away.
People:
We give you this time for reflection and relaxation, for prayer and for play. Be filled with fresh dreams for your life and for this church. May new seeds be sown that will bear fruit in due season.
Kathy:
Open your heart in wonder to embrace God’s presence. Watch the morning sun as it rises on the horizon, and remember that in every day and in each tomorrow, God’s hope rises in you.
Jason:
I thank God for the gift of being your pastor and the gift of this Sabbatical.
Eric:
May God fill you with a light spirit as you study, as you invest time in your family, spend time with old friends and make new ones, as you visit new surroundings, and travel to familiar ones.
People: May you experience the gift of spiritual growth in your journey. Jason: May God also gift you with real, life-altering transformation. People: God grant you an open heart as you live and move in new places. We send you out with our blessing. Eric:
We will light this candle each time we gather this summer as a reminder to pray for you and your family while you are away.
I will also take this candle with us. Each time I light it, I will hold you in my heart. I will pray that the Spirit of Fire will kindle in you a flame of love for one another and the stranger in your midst. I will also pray that you will keep Sabbath so that you, too, might experience renewal in Christ. Let us pray now together:
Jason:
O God, I ask you to bless Second Baptist during the time we are apart. Open every heart to receive the gifts of your Spirit, and encourage them to give generously of what you have given them. Give them joy in their life together and in their service to others. Protect them from harm; comfort them in sorrow and grief; and hold them always in your loving care. Inspire them with hope so that together they can be a beacon of light in your world.
Kathy: O Spirit of God, let the dancing that’s meant to be in Jason start its movement anew. Renew him for ministry through this time set aside for reflection and study, the refreshment of a break from daily tasks and routine, and the excitement of new learning and direction. Grace him with a keen sense of your presence and keep him steadfast in the faith while we are apart from one another. Bring Jason and his family back to us safely, full of joy and enlightened by your Spirit.
withthrough God Jesus Christ People: This is ourGo prayer, our Lord. Amen. +The Sending Forth
