 WORSHIP LEADERS TODAY Sanford Beckett and his wife, Diane, retired to the Northland in 2012 from Northern Virginia. They enjoy being near their grandson in Kansas City and much closer than before to their three grandchildren in Iowa City.

Linda Cain and husband Jerry returned to Second Baptist in 2013 following Jerry’s retirement from Judson University in Elgin, IL. They live in Kearney, enjoying their grandchildren, renewed relationships and new ministry opportunities within our church and the community.

Anna Davis is currently in her first year attending UMKC’s 6-year BA/MD medical program. When she has spare time, she enjoys swimming, running and spending time with family and friends. Her parents are Chuck and Bev Davis and sister is Emma.

Greg Duncan has been a member of 2BC since 1990. He is a deacon and has served on a wide variety of committees. He teaches the Connections class. Greg is VP of Cates Auction & Realty Co., and is on the Liberty City Council.

Paul Twenter joined Second in 2008 with wife, Julie, and daughters Paige and Mallory. Paul excels in outdoor grilling.

Ian Wooldridge is a seventh grader at Discovery. He is the son of Kristin and Amon Wooldridge and is active in scouting as well as activities at 2BC. Kaylee Wooldridge is a fourth grader at Alexander Doniphan. She is the daughter of Kristin and Amon Wooldridge.

 ABOUT THE COVER ART I often feel most at home with myself and with creation when I am connected to the natural world. For me, there are few greater reminders of hope than the promise fulfilled on a daily basis by the ever-changing landscape. This speaks volumes about the indefatigable hope that Christ offers without the need for a single word.

These hand-colored encaustic photographs have been formed using many layers. The prints themselves are on tissue paper and leave the viewer with a dreamlike impression of the actual object. Hope often works this way. We are left to sit with the impression until the full beauty comes into focus. As one of my favorite poets writes, “The song you heard singing in the leaf when you were a child is singing still.” I believe it is a song of many things, but, certainly, it resounds with the deafening promise of God’s renewing love and grace.
