Welcome Guests If you are a first-time guest, please complete a guest card from a pew pocket or Friendship Register and drop it in the offering plate so that we may acknowledge your visit and get acquainted with you. We are glad you have joined us for worship today. ________________________ Meditations Voluntary submissiveness in Christian experience is grounded in the voluntary yieldedness in love demonstrated by Jesus Christ. His submission was demonstrated at his baptism. His submission was critically tested in Gethsemane when submission to God’s will meant acceptance of the cross. His submission was completed at Calvary where he cried out “Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit!” Paul interpreted this submission of Jesus to the Father as the means by which salvation is offered to sinful humanity and as the prelude to his Lordship over all of life. But the submission is not that of an inferior to a superior: It is the yeildedness in love of a son to the Father, the selfgiving of equality. In the Christian life, voluntary submission to one another in love is one way of letting the mind of Christ be revealed in our human relationships. – John C. Howell

Unison Confession Like the people who greeted Jesus as he entered Jerusalem and then later pronounced “Crucify him,” we are fickle people who often deny Christ in our thoughts, words, and deeds.
Remembering the events of Jesus’ last week helps us see ourselves for what we are: sinners in need of a Savior, a Savior —praise God—we have in Christ. In honesty and hope, we confess now our sins to God. Practicing the Presence of God
