Seek Christ Easter Sunday | APRIL 20, 2014
Welcome Guests If you are a first-time guest, please complete a guest card from a pew pocket or Friendship Register and drop it in the offering plate so that we may acknowledge your visit and get acquainted with you. We are glad you have joined us for worship today. ________________________ Meditations For me the most radical demand of Christian faith lies in summoning the courage to say yes to the present risenness of Jesus Christ. – Brennan Manning Jesus’ resurrection is the beginning of God’s new project not to snatch people away from earth to heaven but to colonize earth with the life of heaven. That, after all, is what the Lord’s Prayer is about. – N.T. Wright Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” – John 11: 25–26

Jane Marshall
My God, I love Thee; not because I hope for heav’n thereby, nor yet because who love Thee not must die eternally. Thou, O my Jesus, Thou didst me upon the cross embrace; for me didst bear the nails and spear and manifold disgrace. Why, O blessed Jesus Christ, should I not love Thee well? Not for the hope of winning heav’n or of escaping hell;
Not with the hope of gaining aught, not seeking a reward; but as Thyself hast loved me, O everloving Lord! E’en so I love Thee, and will love, and in Thy praise will sing; Solely because Thou art my God, and my Eternal King. Poem (anonymous) from 17th Century Latin Translated by Rev. Edward Caswall
