PUMPKIN

THE CHANGING OF THE SEASON...

from summer into autumn is one of our favourite times here at Turners as not only do we see nature giving a final flourish before it prepares for the winter months ahead, but we also see eating habits begin to lean more towards heartier, more comforting dishes and this is often reflected in menus across the country. With that in mind I recommend you have a look at some of the cuts of meats that lend themselves well to a long slow braise. This popular slow-cooking method really gets the best out of the right cut and while simple to do, gives amazing results. With Halloween at the end of the month, some of you may be thinking of ways to incorporate pumpkins into your dishes. Aside from the fresh variety we have a number of great products that can be used to great effect in your pumpkin-themed creations. Our main feature is a little bit special this month; we asked our resident Product Chef Chris Moore to come up with a number of simple yet effective Petit Four ideas using ingredients from our warehouse. We think he did a great job. His creations lasted a matter of minutes in the office, a testament to how good they tasted. Greg has also come up with a cracking autumnal cheeseboard featuring cheeses that are particularly at their peak right now. While we are on the subject of cheese, you may have noticed from the front page that Vacherin Mont d'Or is back on our shelves for another year. Good news I’m sure to fans of this iconic seasonal winter cheese.

MONIN PUMPKIN SPICE SYRUP 1LTR A new flavour syrup from Monin that combines the flavour of pumpkin with nutmeg and cinnamon for a real taste of Autumn. Pumpkin spice latte anyone?

PUMPKIN SEED OIL 250ML A luxurious and indulgent oil that has a delicious, nutty aroma and a deep green colour. Drizzle on roasted butternut squash and feta cheese salad or use it as the oil for dipping crusty bread for a twist.

DAVID TAYLOR Dave is part of our warehouse crew and works in the overstocks department, making sure that depleted stock in our main warehouse is replenished when needed. He also helps with the logistics of moving stock to our other depots around the country. Dave and his wife Ann, who also works at Turners, have two teenage children who they love to spend time with; especially with trips to the coast where they like nothing more than a family walk by the sea. Aside from time with his family, Dave is a member of a Pool League and also a devout beer fan. In fact if he wasn't at Turners he says his dream job would be Quality Control at a brewery, i.e. beer tasting! Dave is also no stranger to having run-ins with the odd celebrity as he tells us that he has met Jim Davidson, been to a party at Richard Branson's house and perhaps most impressively of all, met the Chuckle Brothers. Although if there was one name he would love to add to this list it would be Billy Connolly, who he would happily share a glass of whiskey with.

DELIVERIES We deliver daily, Monday to Saturday and our vans leave us between 2am and 7am, depending on the journey. All routes are fixed so you can expect your delivery at or about the same time every day. We do not operate a minimumorder policy.
