A very warm welcome to our Mar/Apr 2010 issue of TV4Life he devastation left by the earthquake in Haiti moved millions to respond to fundraising appeals. The earthquake killed, maimed and rocked the Haitians’s way of life (see p28). An earthquake also occurred when Jesus hung on the cross. Earlier, he had warned, in Matthew 24, that such “things must come to pass” before His return. Who could have watched and not been moved by the death of our Saviour on that ﬁrst Good Friday? Who would willingly become a sacriﬁce so our sins could be forgiven (1John 2:12) like he did? In this Easter issue the theme of forgiveness is explored. God forgiving our sins is tackled in Richard Taylor’s article (p8) and Joyce Meyer speaks of loving your enemy and putting love into action (p44). One of the hardest things to forgive must be the murder of your child, yet in his article “A Father’s Loss” (p66) Robin Oakes speaks of how he was able to forgive his son’s killer. Unforgiveness and bitterness are linked to illnesses by Dr Jerome Anewke (p33) and Terry Quinn (p66) says we need to forgive so we can be forgiven.

R LET I Had A Traumatic Childhood Experience TER! I was really struck by the article “A Child Unheard” about David Russell in the January/February 2010 issue of TV4Life. He had a traumatic experience and had no memory and no emotional connection to it. I related to that because I have had a trauma as well.

Six weeks after I was born, the blitz of Plymouth started and lasted nearly ﬁve years. During the blitz we were bombed out of our ﬁrst three homes. It became so dangerous that my Dad suggested we evacuated back to my Mam’s village until the war was over. But then there was an air raid on our village of Stoke Fleming in Devon, and three bombs were dropped. One dropped in our garden. It didn’t explode but the impact made the house collapse. I was upstairs in bed at the age of two-and-a-half years. I was buried alive. I was told all about this by my family and have no memory of it, but God has been working me through the consequences of this, similar to David Russell. It is exciting to know someone has been through a similar experience and I plan to get in touch with him. This article is amazing and maybe God can use that to heal me as well. Enjoyable I ﬁnd the TV4Life magazine very informative about what’s going on in the Church world. The magazine seems quite London based in its reporting. I’m not sure whether this is the target audience? The TV listings were good, though a little bit confusing in how it’s structured and not as clear as the Radio and TV Times used to be? The back page has an ‘e’ next to your web address. I thought ‘e’ stood for email, not website, hence when I ﬁrst tried to email you, it failed. orgiveness is probably one of the most common words used in Christianity and probably one of the most misunderstood words in Christianity. Forgiveness on our part is nothing more than response brought about by a loving God through the act of love, death and sacrifice on the cross. To fully comprehend and understand forgiveness we must first understand that we are forgiven ourselves. Our first parents failed God by their disobedience that resulted in what has been termed “the fall of man”. What we mean by that is that man fell from his place of perfection and welcomed sin into his heart and the world God had created. The results are devastating, death, decay and judgement sit on the horizon of sin and now man becomes subject to the law of sin and death. Sin enters our world and parades itself through the streets of generations to come and now all born from that day forward are born into sin and will as a result die (known as the doctrine of original sin). Death now is given license to bring an end to all God has created. The valley of the shadow of death is the longest valley in the world. It began with Adam and has continued through 6,000 years of human history. Men like to postpone that dreadful moment when they must pass through the dark valley, but death underscores each life and refuses to accept the person of any man. Death does not take into account whether we have been profitable or detrimental to

society. Every step that we take brings us nearer to the grave, and it is but a matter of time until we must bid farewell to every earthly tie. With all of the wisdom of the medical profession and the use of scientific discoveries, we must agree with the wise preacher of old who said; “For the living know that they shall die” (Ecclesiastes 9:5). God’s response? Into this den of iniquity that resulted in death, God, not out of necessity but out of the consequence of His love, decides to do something about it so that His people may experience forgiveness. A system of sacrificial and ritualistic acts is given to bring forgiveness to the people for their sin. At this point in biblical history the forgiveness of sin was not permanent and a special day known as the “day of atonement” (Yon Kippur) was instituted by God. On this day the priest would enter the Holy of Holies with the blood offering and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, then come out and declare forgiveness over the people for another year. All this would be to foreshadow or give us a preview of what was to come when Christ died on the cross to offer permanent and eternal forgiveness. The Old Testament acted as a trailer for one of the most incredible moments in creation’s history. The prophets spoke of the day and Isaiah prophesied some 700 years before His coming. Jeremiah spoke of a “new covenant” not like the old one that would literally replace the old one (Jer 31:31-34). The new covenant offering forgiveness to all people, including the gentiles, was established when Christ’s death atoned for our sin. He became the sacrifice and substitute and paid the ultimate penalty for sin to satisfy the demands of God. As the songwriters Stuart Townend and Keith Getty so eloquently put it: “In Christ alone! – who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless babe!

This gift of love and righteousness, Scorned by the ones He came to save: Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid; Here in the death of Christ I live.” Theologians call it the “satisfaction theory”, the demands for justice had now been met in the person of Christ, the penalty had been paid and now all who accept the atoning work of Christ as the only means of salvation, through their repentance and obedience to follow Christ find means of forgiveness of their sins. Our response? This act of love is embedded in Paul’s letter to the church at Rome when he says to them; “But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) The work of forgiveness is God-ward not man-ward. We as sinners deserving of death have no righteousness of our own to qualify us for forgiveness, but rather we deserve to be punished for the wickedness of our sin. All we can do is respond to His divine love that through His Spirit offers forgiveness. We respond to God’s incredible love and His forgiveness becomes vicarious. Questions to consider 1.Have you been forgiven by God? 2.Do you think it’s because of your own righteousness? 3.Have you accepted total forgiveness? “Very Early In The Morning” General Shaw Clifton of the Salvation Army

he early morning is a strange time. It can be filled with positive expectation or deep apprehension. How are you, early in the morning? The fifteenth chapter of Mark’s Gospel opens with the words, “very early in the morning”, and then goes on to tell us what took place in those history-splitting pre-dawn moments. The Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, had been arrested in the night by Jerusalem Temple Guards who had known where to find him because his close friend and follower, Judas, had betrayed him for thirty pieces of silver. His yet more trusted friend, Peter, had openly denied even knowing him. The High Priest in Jerusalem questioned Jesus in public and judicial condemnation soon followed. “Very early in the morning” Jesus, your Saviour and mine, was handed over to the Roman occupying forces, for final judgement. The Governor, Pilate, interrogated Jesus but could extract no replies. Jesus was like an innocent, defenceless lamb led to the slaughter. By this stage he did not even open his mouth to speak. Urged on by the early morning crowd, Pilate delivered Jesus to the executioners. To curry favour with the subjugated but volatile citizens, the Governor then released from prison a known killer, their compatriot, Barabbas. All of this “early morning” action was but a precursor to Golgotha, the place where Jesus would die. They mocked and abused him first. They thrust a crown made of long thorny spikes onto his sacred forehead. They offered him sarcastic homage. Then came history’s most tragic, poignant walk – all the way, outside the city walls, to Golgotha on Calvary Hill. There, with two common thieves, Jesus was put to death by crucifixion, a cruel and exceptional punishment by today’s standards. They hammered nails into his 20 mar/apr

hands and feet, then raised him up on the cross to hang in slow suffocation as his body slumped downward. At the very end, six hours later, he muttered words to his Father in Heaven asking forgiveness for his persecutors. “Very early in the morning” is a good time to ponder these events. Jesus himself was accustomed to rising early in the morning to seek out the presence and the face of God the Father. Pre-dawn, for some, is a time for dubious deeds. It was like that for the arresting guards and their masters. It was as though their plotting needed to be done in secret and completed in a hurry. The goodness of Jesus was to them a threat, not a blessing. How do you see it all? In the stillness and objectivity that come “very early in the morning”, how does it all look to you? Do the events of that night and the next day, as recorded in the Scriptures, arouse your emotions? Do you feel the ugliness and injustice of it? Do you feel the tragedy and pity of it? Yet at the same time there is another dimension to our responses, a subtle sense of gratitude that it happened, a growing sensation deep within, witnessing to our personal realisation that Jesus knew exactly what he was doing. He faced it all with determination – for our sakes! It was all out of holy love for the fallen human race! “Very early in the morning” we begin to see also the growing light of a new dawn. It is the glow of the resurrection morning and the empty tomb. Calvary was a beginning not an ending! It is good to come to Calvary early in the morning. It is always good to come to the Lord early in the day, each and every day. Now, our Risen and Ascended Lord awaits our approach, and a smile of loving approval comes early to his face. I pray that his smile and his forgiveness may rest upon each one of us today.

very one of Bishop Abraham Olaleye’s programmes “The Lord Is Coming Soon” features the sinner’s prayer. Such is the conviction and obedience of this minister who conducts evangelistic crusades in Africa, Europe amd Asia. He has also been stirring up new ﬁres of faith in the Body of Christ in Revival meetings in North America. When you hear the testimony of this humble man of God, it is easy to understand the passion that drives him and stops him from focusing on seeking fame and fortune. Bishop Abraham challenges believers to embrace righteousness, holiness and the fear of God. “I saw Jesus in a vision. He was glorious and I was terriﬁed and thought I was going to die,” he said. “I saw from the east of the world a mighty wave of judgement was coming. “The Lord said: “Tell the world that I am coming soon. Will you preach it?” “ I said: “I will preach it.” “Jesus said: “Many will not understand you. Will you preach it?” “I said: “I will preach it.” “Jesus said: “If you preach it, I will provide for you. I will defend you and will make the provision for you.” A great peace and calmness came over me and I knew, like Gideon, that I would not die. Usually, when we have visions of the Lord they line up with His Word and I discovered my vision and this lines up with Daniel 10. A peace and assurance came over me. “I began to seek the face of the Lord about what to do next and He told me to make a television programme called “The Lord Is Coming Soon”.”

The last born of nine children, Bishop Abraham was brought up a Christian by his parents who were ministers. In the mid 1970s he dedicated his heart to the Lord. He said: “The fact I was brought up in a Christian home was not enough. I had to make a personal commitment to the Lord.” Bishop Abraham realized that the Lord had called him into the office of Evangelist in 1977 after reading two books by T.L.Osborne. He has been in full-time evangelism ministry since 1983. He said: “I felt a burning fire on the inside and I just knew that the only way I could continue to fulfill God’s call was to be obedient. God confirmed my calling in so many ways. For example by dreams, revelations and other people confirmed it to me.” Bishop Abraham first travelled with other evangelists and acted as a counsellor ministering to those who had just come to the Lord, before evangelising in villages. He married his gospel singer wife, Rachel, in 1987. Together they have five children. Bishop Abraham has held crusades

in 12 countries in Africa the Ukraine and Eastern Europe. He has held many crusades in cities in Southern India, including Warangal, a terrorist capital. The president of Abraham’s Evangelistic Ministry and General Overseer of The Pentecoastal Congregation, in Lagos, Nigeria, said: “The Lord told me to bring revival to the backslidden nations as in Ezekiel 37 and the valley of the dry bones. He said: “The striking part of the vision is that when Ezekiel prophesied over the dry bones they became a vast army. The Lord has shown me that there will be a vast army that will go into the whole world to bring in the ﬁnal harvest before the Lord’s return.” Bishop Abraham has written a book, “The Works And Beneﬁts Of Redemption” for new converts. INFUSE “…I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more” (Hebrews 8 verse 12). Things in our past (whether recent or otherwise) (can) block our progress in the Christian life. The …thing we must forget is our sins. We have all committed sins and we all need to repent. But once we have repented and received forgiveness we must move on. What does God say to a repentant people? “I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” The prophet Micah reminds us that God promised to “hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea” (7:19). “Then”, as Billy Graham remarked, “He puts up a sign that says “No Fishing”.” Many, however, still lash themselves for their sins (even though confessed and forgiven by the Lord), and by so doing they derail their daily walk with Him. Because they hold onto their sin and guilt, they are prevented from living fully in the present moment. Psychologists have coined a term in the past couple of decades which you may have heard – co-dependency. A co-dependent is someone who, instead of choosing freedom, settles for something less. The suffering wife of an alcoholic, for example, might settle for things as they stand rather than try to resolve the problem. A co-dependent may appear to be supporting another, but deep down may feel they deserve the suffering they experience. Sometimes people who hang on to their sins after they have been forgiven do so because of a psychological need to browbeat themselves. They have not accepted forgiveness – thus they still have a sense of guilt and feel a need to punish themselves. Self-atonement is substituted by them for Christ’s atonement. Once we have repented of our sins God forgives and forgets them. And you must forget them too. O God forgive me if I am trying to atone for my own sins instead of accepting the beneﬁts of Your Son’s atonement for me on Calvary. You forgive and forget. The Archbishop of York and a Christian organisation have hit out at a campaign to allow relatives help the sick and dying to commit suicide without fear of prosecution. Dr John Sentamu spoke out as two opinion polls suggesting backing reform were published and pressure was mounting from a pro-euthanasia campaign led by author Sir Terry Pratchett. “Once you begin to open this particular door, it won’t be long before you start having mercy killings. I would rather listen to the voices of disabled people than to the voices of celebrities or the voices of 1,000 people in an opinion poll,” said Dr Sentamu Parliament has twice rejected laws to legalise assisted dying, and Christians

A spokeperson for CCFON said: “Although we sympathise with those going through the suffering of long-term, debilitating illnesses”, such a law leaves “the door wide open for the abuse, deliberate or otherwise, of vulnerable people.” Recently, Kay Gilderdale, from East Sussex, was cleared of attempted murder after administering lethal drugs to end her daughter Lynn’s life. Lynn had asked for help when her own attempts at suicide failed. The insurgents intended to execute the little girl too, and shot her in the head...but they failed to kill her. She cries and moans. The nurses said John is the only one who seems to calm her down, so he spent four nights holding her while they both slept in that chair. The girl is now healing. Please pray for this girl and Iraq.

It was top of the Open Doors organisation’s World Watch List 2010 for the eighth year running. The list gives a detailed analysis of Christian persecution worldwide. next on the list closely followed by the Maldives, Afghanistan and the Yemen. Mauritania was listed at eighth place followed by Laos and Uzbekistan. “There is no other country in the world where Christians are being persecuted in such a horrible and systematic manner,” says Carl Moeller, President/CEO of Open tv4life.com

e all watched the television reports in shocked silence and prayed as news of the devastating earthquake in Haiti left thousands of people killed, injured or buried alive. At least 180,000 men, women and children were among the dead and thousands were left maimed or orphaned. A total of 1.2 million people were left homeless as a tremblor measuring 7.0 magnitude rocked the Caribbean island country. As ordinary people, celebrities and politicians rally to raise funds for a country in ruins, we must continue to ask the Lord to help the suffering people rebuild their homes and lives. It will take years before the buildings, infrastructure and facilities are back to normal and the Haitians are left with a dark shadow across their hearts. As you read this, the rains are expected in Haiti, if not already falling, and it is feared few will have adequate shelters. On January 12th, live reports from Port-au-Prince revealed the horror of hell on earth after the earthquake ďŹ&#x201A;attened the capital and neighbouring areas at 4:53pm local time and the nightmare began. Video footage captured moments after showed dust-covered people running through the streets and yelling in terror. Trapped survivors were heard crying for help and attempting to break

through the rubble. Families attempted to dig relatives out of the mangled debris with their bare hands as emergency aid and helpers were held up at the heavily congested airport. The ďŹ rst humanitarian groups were delayed in delivering emergency aid and supplies because of the poor and broken roads and dilapidated buildings. The Presidential Palace, the National Assembly building and cathedral were among the ruins. At least 52 aftershocks were recorded leaving people too afraid to sleep in doors. Thousands of injured waited for care outside damaged hospitals as many underwent childbirth or amputations without anaesthetic in the streets. One UK news team were able to take a woman in labour for medical help as she was too weak to deliver her baby unaided. Delays in the distribution of aid led to looting and sporadic violence. Crowds were recorded ďŹ ghting at food and water distribution points and children were left sleeping alongside ruins and piles of decaying bodies. Later tens of thousands were buried in mass graves. But rays of hope shone through and God was in the midst as babies, children, an old woman and a young man were miraculously found alive in the aftermath up to 11 days after the natural disaster. The United State’s President Obama promised “swift, coordinated and aggressive action” and Prime Minister Gordon Brown pledged a £20million emergency aid from Britain. On January 22nd, the United Nations noted that the emergency phase of the relief operation was drawing to a close and the searching for survivors was later called off. People from all walks of life responded compassionately to the plight of their fellow human beings. Fundraising to help rebuild and put Haitians back on their feet is taking place in all shapes and sizes. Save The Children launched an emergency appeal as it estimated up to two million children could have been affected. More than £270,000 was raised by the Methodist Church and Methodist Relief and Development Fund. Christian Aid (a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee), whose ofﬁce building collapsed, the Red Cross and Oxfam immediately launched appeals and sent aid. Several Christian channels and ministers played their part, including Gospel Channel and Joyce Meyer Ministries. Kingsways record company made the group BlushUK’s record “Not Alone” available free to all organisations and media wanting to fundraise for Haiti

through Compassion UK. Grammy Awardwinner Kirk Franklin assembled gospel music’s and Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie recruited secular stars for fund raising recordings. Pop mogul Simon Cowell also organised a recording of “Everybody Hurts” with more than 21 artists taking part including Cheryl Cole and Mariah Carey. The Church of England composed a special prayer for Haiti and collections were taken towards appeals in many Anglican and Catholic churches. The Salvation Army sent aid and is taking care of 20,000 homeless people. In the US, a telethon raised more than a million dollars for Haiti. A group of 10 US missionaries hit the headlines for trying to take 33 children out of disaster-hit Haiti for adoption. The missionaries say they did not know they were doing anything wrong. Jonathan Edwards, General Secretary for the Baptist Union UK said people “around the world are responding to the crisis in Haiti following the devastating earthquake. We feel powerless as we see the images of devastation but there are things we can do.” Christians can pray and fast for the bereaved, the injured, for the Government, the long term future of Haiti and for the relief agencies. Jesus The Jewish Messiah By Rabbi Kirt. A Schneider

eshua, is the Hebrew name of our Messiah. It is the name He was known by, by His parents and friends when He walked upon the earth in the flesh 2,000 years ago. Yeshua never came to start a new religion called “Christianity”, but rather He came to fulfill Judaism. Yeshua said that “He did not come to abolish the Law and the Prophets but to fulfill them” (Matthew 5:17). To the woman of Samaria, Yeshua said, “You worship that which you do not know; we worship that which we know, for salvation is from the Jews” (John 4:22). For approximately 1700 years, God’s church has been disconnected from her Jewish roots, but presently, God is changing this. He is bringing His people back to their true foundation. In Romans chapter 11, Paul tells the Gentiles that it is the Scriptures, the promises, and the prophets that God gave to Israel that is the foundation of their faith in Messiah Jesus. This is why the New Testament begins by stating: “The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham” (Matthew 1:1). You see, the very first verse, of the first book of the New Testament, begins by connecting Jesus to Abraham and David, the King of Israel. In other words, Jesus is the fulfillment of Judaism. In Matthew 13:52, Yeshua said, “Every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings forth out of his treasure things old and new.” A scribe was someone who knew the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) like the back of his hand. What Yeshua was saying here is that the scribes that came to Him would possess the treasures of God’s truth from both 32 mar/apr

the Tanach (Old Testament) and the New Testament. For many years, the church has not understood the value of knowing the Old Testament; but God is now lifting the veil from His church’s eyes to reveal the significance of understanding who Jesus is from a Hebraic perspective. One incredible discovery that the Church is coming into, is the realization that everything Yeshua accomplished for us is foreshadowed by God’s Appointed days, which are found in the 23rd chapter of the book of Leviticus. Jesus was crucified on Passover, buried during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, rose from the dead on the Feast of Firstfruits, and sent His Spirit on Shavuot (Pentecost). Everything that the Messiah secured for us, in His first coming, is foreshadowed by God’s holidays that are revealed in the Hebrew Bible. Although Yeshua’s call and mission includes the Gentiles, it is Jewish in its foundation and nature. He said, “I was sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel” (Matthew 15:24). He came as a Jew, was raised by Jewish parents who celebrated the Passover each year (Luke 2:41), chose Jewish disciples (with the possible exception of Matthew) and was crucified with a sign over His head that read, “Yeshua of Nazareth - King of the Jews.” He is sitting in heaven right now as “The Lion from the Tribe of Judah” (Revelation 5:5), and the last chapter of the New Testament declares that He is coming back as “The root and the offspring of David” (Revelation 22:16). Christianity is a Jewish thing. In conclusion, the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) and the New Testament are not two disconnected Testaments. Instead, the Bible is one continuous tv4life.com

The Forgiving Nature Of God A

ll of us at some point in our lives will have occasions when we have done wrong and need to ask for forgiveness, or have been wronged and need to extend forgiveness. When we have committed the wrong, being quick to ask for forgiveness is a sign of true maturity, and shows the development of Christ-like character. This involves more than just saying sorry, but includes other things such as expressing genuine regret, accepting responsibility, sincere repentance and a desire to make restitution where appropriate. Forgiveness is the act of forgiving; the pardoning of an offender by which he is considered and treated not guilty. It means to have compassion, to cover, to take away, to be gracious and to be merciful. I believe one of the best ways we can understand and operate in forgiveness is, through knowing God’s heart concerning forgiveness and indeed how He has forgiven us. The Psalmist says “Bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me bless His holy name....who forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases” (Psalm 103: v.1-3), and “as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103: v.12). The Hebrew word for forgive in Psalm 103 v.3 is salach, which describes God’s willingness to forgive and relieve the person from judgment. Isaiah the prophet spoke of God “blotting out our sins and remembering them no more” (Isaiah 43: v.25). Clearly God’s forgiveness means that our sins no longer stand as a barrier between us and God, and this allows us open fellowship with God. In Ephesians 4: v.32 we are charged to

“be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another even as God in Christ forgave you”. Thus our ability to forgive is made possible through Christ who forgave us. True Bible forgiveness though sometimes hard, is a choice we have to make. To forgive is not to condone the sin as acceptable, or to say it made no difference or to license its repetition. It must be acknowledged that there is a difference between forgiveness which is a choice and instantaneous when applied, and trust which has to be restored over time. However the Bible promises many blessings for those who choose to forgive (Matthew 6 v.9-14, Mark 11: v.22-25, Luke 6: v.37-38). Sadly many people choose not to forgive, and in doing so allow many negative and toxic emotions to take root in their life, such as bitterness, anger, hatred, mistrust and fear. It is also well documented that many physical ailments can result from a refusal to forgive. An inspiring example can be found from the life of Joseph. After Joseph had been wronged by his brothers and sold into slavery, he could have chosen to remain bitter and refused to forgive his brothers, but instead he chose to forgive. As a result God later blessed him with two sons. The first was called Manasseh which means forgetful or release, and the second son was called Ephraim which means fruitful in affliction (Genesis 41: v.51-52). The inference being that before you can be fruitful, there must be a forgiving or releasing – and this will enable you receive the new blessing that God has in store for you.

Prophetic People Of Power

he testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” Rev. 19:10. Acts 2:17-19 says “it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My “ Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. (18) And on my menservants and on my maidservants I will pour out my Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. (19) I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath.” One of the strong evidences of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is “prophecy”. This is proclaiming the mind of God. It is the declaration of Jehovah’s intentions. The ability to see as God sees and declare as the throne room speaks is the spirit of prophecy. Friends, there is a rich outpouring of God’s Spirit (in our day) with a large prophetic company provoking signs and wonders in the heavens and on earth. Here are five prophetic indicators for the New Year and decade. Paul said “this charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare” 1 Timothy 1:18. Fight with these prophetic pillars and enforce God’s will in your life and circumstances. Believe them, think them, pray them and speak them into being. Awesome things lie ahead; signs and wonders are at your beck and call.

Here are five divine words for you: This is your season for “higher altitudes”. Take the wings of the Holy Spirit and soar like an eagle. Isaiah 40:31 Isaiah 40:31 “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

Mark 10:27 “But Jesus looked at them and said, with men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”

It is your year for “double honour”; astronomical, inexplicable, undeniable and forceful growth and multiplication.

Isaiah 60:1-3 “Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”

Isaiah 61:7 “Instead of your shame you shall have double honour, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion.” God Almighty will cause you to “laugh” heartily. Miracle marriages, babies, finances, provisions, promotions and breakthroughs are coming your way. You will take back everything the devil stole.

This is your time to “shine”. By transactions of divine light and great truth, you will walk in dominion and distinction.

Proverbs 4:18 “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.” Confess the following:

Luke 6:21 “blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.” Genesis 21:6-7 “and Sarah said, God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me. She also said, who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age.” This will be your year of God-given “possibilities”. You will have genetichealth rearrangements, economic eruptions, supernatural endorsements and experience divine repositioning.

Another woman healed after being prayed for by Rev. Larbie is Deborah Espie of City Church, St Albans. She was admitted to hospital with chest pains. Tests showed that although she had not suffered a heart attack, her arteries were blocked and she was receiving blood thinning treatment. Mrs Espie heard about Rev. Larbie’s “amazing ministry in healing and miracles” and her pastor, Dave Campbell, asked Rev Larbie to pray for her. She said: “My pastor arranged for Sam and his team to pray over and anoint with oil, a handkerchief which was sent to me in hospital, as in Acts 19:12.” Mrs Espie placed the handkerchief over her abdomen and chest. She said: “I knew that God would honour His Word and heal me. On the Sunday I was still suffering from pain, but carried on claiming God’s promises for me and standing on the Word of God. “When I woke up on the Monday morning I knew I had been healed! I felt an amazing shift in the Spritual realm and an awesome peace in my spirit. The Consultant had arranged for me to have an Echocardiogram (a scan of the heart) which I had and my heart was normal. Praise God... “God is so good and I can never doubt His love for His people. He is always there for us and is just waiting for us to call to Him.” Pastor Sam says “I believe anybody can be healed, Jesus died for all, I’ve seen Muslims healed, atheists healed. I’ve seen healings in Africa and I’ve even seen healings on aeroplanes. “The reason why people are being healed is because Jesus took care of our problems over 2,000 years ago. The work is already done, so we are just claiming it for ourselves.”

A Year Of Surrender

long with every new year comes a host of resolutions to break bad habits or create new ones in an effort to gain some control over the areas of life where we feel inadequate. We often delude ourselves into believing that if we can control our weight, our finances or even our careers, we will live a more peaceful and satisfying life. Unfortunately, no matter how dedicated or disciplined, we often fail to meet own expectations that we have set for ourselves, and are left feeling disappointed and empty. The good news is that the solution to a perfectly content life doesn’t mean controlling the uncontrollable, but rather surrendering completely to the One who controls everything. As we begin a fresh decade, now is the time to give up trying to manage and control the many small and insignificant things that will never be perfect and submit to the One who is perfect, Jesus Christ. Surrendering everything to Christ can be an intimidating concept to process. It means giving up control over your thoughts, your actions, your family, your job, your time, your money, your own will and your life. Surrender is not something that can be done in part or in pieces. By definition it is a complete release of control. To surrender is to surrender all.

In my own life, God has taught me the importance of surrender. When I was younger I was in love with a man who would later be my husband. But before I took that step, the Lord needed to teach me to depend on Him and Him alone. My husband-to-be, Marcus and I, broke up and I trusted that God had a perfect plan for each of us. I write in my book, “Surrender All,” and believe with all my heart that, “in surrender, you will feel His presence and your faith will see you through.” My faith did see me through those times of loneliness and feeling unsettled. I knew I loved Marcus, but I also knew that I had to surrender that relationship to the Lord. Eventually, as you know, Marcus and I were married and neither of us could have known how the Lord would bless us for waiting on His will. Marcus and I have often had to surrender our plans and lives to the Lord, in the creation of the television network, Daystar, our careers in the ministry, our family and many more. There are several key areas of life that are God’s and must be surrendered to Him in order to obtain His best for you. Your marriage, children, career, health, friendships, daily life, losses and failures are all God’s to control. Releasing control over areas of your life that are very important to you is never easy, and

God’s plan isn’t always clear. But God doesn’t ask us to do anything he hasn’t already done Himself. God surrendered His one and only Son to redeem an unworthy world. That Son surrendered to the will of His Father, and suffered a brutal end to a life of rejection from those He would die to save.

“Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Luke 22: 42 I will leave you with a quote from my book where I talk about my own struggles with surrender and struggles that others have shared with me. And I will end with a prayer of surrender that I encourage you to pray to guide you in this new decade of hope, promise and surrender. “God knows things we don’t know, He sees across time, into the past and present and future. We may not always understand what is going on in the here and now, but we can trust that God has a plan for us. This is faith.”

Lord, I surrender my life to You. Take my life and use it as You have designed. I may not understand everything, but I trust You to lead and guide me into all truth. I surrender everything to you right now. Amen.

Forgiveness Of Our Emotions by Joyce Meyer

ow do you respond when someone hurts your feelings? Do you let it rob you of joy? Or maybe your emotions run wild? Luke 6:27,28 NIV tells us what we should do when people hurt us: “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” Can you believe that? We’re to pray something like, “Oh, Lord, I pray that You’d just make them so happy!” I still don’t get that, but I’m willing to do it in obedience and say, “Lord, I don’t know that I really want them to be happy, but I’ll pray that in faith anyway, because You’re telling me to bless them with Your presence.” Luke 6:35 NIV goes further. It says: “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.” Now, let’s get practical about how to do this. If we have a co-worker who gets the promotion that we’ve been believing God for, the minute we start to feel jealousy and envy, we need to go buy them a gift. Yes, you heard me right: buy them a gift. It works. When we do it, it breaks the power of the devil because Romans 12:21 says that we overcome evil with good. It’s absolutely true too. I have learned this principle and it has been life-changing for me. For example, a few years ago someone told me about a person who was doing

business with our ministry and making a good deal of money because of their relationship with us. My friend happened to be at the same restaurant, seated in the next booth and overheard their conversation, which just happened to be about me—and they weren’t saying good things either. At ﬁrst I got mad and just wanted to tell him that he was never getting our business again. But in bed that night, the Holy Spirit said to me, “You’re not going to do any of those things.” He said, “No, you’re going to do what you teach. You’re going to go buy him a present, and you’re going to tell him how much you appreciate the services that he’s given you all these years.” Needless to say, I resisted at ﬁrst. But eventually I relented and bought him a gift. What I remember most about the situation is that as soon as I started taking action to do something good for them, it just got so funny to me. I was laughing out loud in my house, all by myself. Listen: When we can look at people who’ve hurt us with compassion and pray what Jesus prayed “…Father, forgive them for they know not what they do,” there’s a party that goes on inside of us. I think most of the time people don’t even realize what they are doing. That man in the restaurant who was talking about me had no idea what he was doing and the position that he was putting himself in. That’s why we need to pray for them and say, “God forgive them.” In fact, what does God say will happen to us when we obey His Word? tv4life.com

Luke 6:35 states “…and then your recompense (your reward) will be great (rich, strong, intense, and abundant), and you will be sons of the Most High….” God tells us that we’ll receive a reward. We will get double for our trouble if we will do things His way. The Bible says that love covers a multitude of sins. Do you know what that means? It means that love will even have you making excuses for your enemies. Someone might come up to us and say, “Well, I heard what so-and-so did to you.” When we really decide to forgive someone and pray the prayer that blesses our enemies, making the decision that we will not talk bad about them, but instead, cover their fault and their mess, we still might not feel any different. Now, I believe choosing forgiveness is one of the most difﬁcult things God asks us to do, especially if we believe that whoever hurt us is in the wrong and doesn’t deserve to be forgiven. But God instructs us to practice forgiveness. And when we choose to follow the path of forgiveness, we will experience the peace and joy that come through obeying God’s Word.

Taking Time To Do Good

“Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children,” Mark 10:14. Scripture says that in the last days love of the great body of people will grow cold (see 2 Timothy 3:1-5). That simply means that people will be so busy, they’ll be so focused on their own needs, they’ll be so caught up in their drive for success they won’t take time to make a difference in someone else’s life. Friend, don’t let that description apply to you. All around you people are hurting. They need your love and your encouragement. Don’t miss the miracle of the moment. You may have someone in your life right now who needs your time and energy. Are you paying attention? Maybe one of your co-workers is just about on the brink of giving up. He desperately needs your encouragement. She needs you to take her to lunch and let her know that you care. Don’t be too busy. Don’t be insensitive to the needs around you. Be willing to be inconvenienced. When you study the life of Jesus, you’ll notice that He always took time for people. He was busy. He had places He wanted to go, but He was always willing to change His plans to do good 46 mar/apr

for somebody else. As He walked through the villages, people called out to Him, “Jesus, please come over here and pray for us.” He would stop and go out of His way to bring healing to those people. One time they came up to Him and said, “Jesus, please come to our city, our relative is so sick, you’ve got to pray for him.” Jesus changed His plans and went that way. When they tried to bring the little children to Jesus, the disciples said: “No, don’t bother Him. He’s busy. He’s too important.” Jesus said, “No, no; let the children come to Me.” It’s so easy for us to get caught up in our own little worlds and focus only on ourselves. “I’ve got my plans. Don’t get me off my schedule.” Instead, take time for people. Don’t miss any opportunity to do good. Make a difference in somebody’s life. It doesn’t have to be something big. Often, small gestures of love and kindness can make a big difference. A women’s group at our church makes blankets, and then the women embroider Scripture verses on them and take them to cancer patients at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston. Those handmade blankets remind the men and women struggling with cancer that somebody cares; the expression of love gives them an extra tv4life.com

ray of hope. Those ladies are using their talents to do something good for somebody else. You may not have a lot of extra money, but maybe you can make a blanket or bake a cake. You can mentor a young man. You can visit a nursing home. You can get involved in prison outreach and encourage the inmates to trust God. Do something good for somebody. O. A. “Bum” Phillips, the legendary NFL football coach, retired from the game a number of years ago, but Phillips isn’t really retired. He’s at the prisons every chance he gets, encouraging the prisoners and giving them hope. That’s what life’s all about – doing something good for somebody else. John Bunyan, the author of the classic Pilgrim’s Progress, said, “You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.”

Jesus, My Saviour

ick Howard is the son of former Tory party leader Michael Howard. He recently started working as an itinerant evangelist, partnering with the Association of Evangelists. Here he writes exclusively for TV4Life about how he found Christ. I was brought up in a Jewish home. We didn’t go to synagogue very often, but we always celebrated the Passover festival, which marks the release of the Jewish people from slavery around 3500 years ago. And we were deeply conscious of the Holocaust. My great grandmother died in Auschwitz and my great uncle and great aunt both suffered in Nazi concentration camps. When I was thirteen it was time for my Bah Mitzvah, which is a coming of age ceremony for Jewish boys. I had to memorize a passage from the Jewish scriptures - in Hebrew! But my Bah Mitzvah left me with more questions than answers. Like a lot of teenagers, I couldn’t see the point of life. I couldn’t escape the thought that one day I would end up in a cold wormy grave and after three or four generations my own direct descendants wouldn’t even know my name. We wouldn’t write a book if the ink on the pages turned invisible once the book had been written. hear some answers to my questions. At the meeting I heard for the ﬁrst time what Jesus offers. The speaker told us that Jesus came into our world from God to offer us eternal life. He quoted a sentence from the Bible: “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life”. The speaker told us that Jesus was lifted up when he was nailed to a wooden cross by the Roman authorities and left there to die. On that day Jesus took the punishment from God that we all deserve, so that everyone who believes in him would go free. By this time I was literally on the edge of my seat. Eternal life! To live forever would change everything. But how exactly could I get hold of it? And would I need to give up being Jewish? The speaker explained that when the Israelites were in the wilderness their leader Moses was told by God to make a bronze snake and ﬁx it to a pole. Whoever was bitten by a venomous snake simply had to look up to that bronze snake to receive God’s cure. In a similar way, the speaker said, we should look to Jesus’ death on the cross if we want to be cured of our lethal problem: all our wrongdoing, which cuts us off from God. At the end of the talk I asked the speaker if I would have to stop being Jewish. He reassured me by saying that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah – God’s chosen King, promised by the prophets for centuries beforehand. I decided to put my trust in Messiah Jesus. “Many rivers to cross” is a line from a famous song, and it sums up what tv4life.com

it feels like to follow Jesus. In this life there are many challenges for believers. Sometimes it’s hard to obey his commands in the Bible. But because Jesus was raised from the dead after he was buried he is knowable now, and it is amazing and wonderful to have his company along the way. He helps believers to obey him by the power of his Spirit. And he offers us ongoing forgiveness for the times when we let him down. What Jesus has done is truly the best news in the world. Congratulations to Noel Robinson for organising his fantastic worship conference The Renewal 2010 at Glory House Church, Plaistow. The presence of the Lord was tangible and it was great to see so many people on ﬁre for the Lord. The worship from so many well-known accomplished musicians was amazing. Son Of Perdition GOD TV’s Wendy Alec has just had her third book of the “Chronicles Of Brothers” series published. “Son of Perdition” is part of her seven book epic fantasy series which covers the rebellion of the Archangel Lucifer and the dire consequences. She took time out from her busy schedule to speak to TV4Life. You wrote almost an entire book in 12 weeks – that must have been taxing most authors take one to two years? I hold down a full-time career in the media, so I just don’t have that luxury, but I’m used to juggling my writing. It was at times a bit gruelling… I worked every spare moment, including every Saturday and Sunday of every weekend stretching from June 1st through to the ﬁrst week of September! So is “Son Of Perdition” fact or ﬁction? It’s a skeleton of truth – but from my perspective often extremely dangerous and incendiary truth wrapped in a character-driven drama about three brothers from an inordinately wealthy Illuminati family against a backdrop of the Angelic and the vast landscape of the Book of Revelation. So in a sense writing “Son Of Perdition” has been a mission? “Fall Of Lucifer” was a mission – to lift the veil on events that could have happened behind the Fall. That set the stage for evil. “Messiah: The First Judgement” was a mission – to reveal events in the supernatural realm on Golgotha and beyond, and “Son Of Perdition” is a mission of a different kind… To expose works of darkness and hopefully to provoke readers to go beyond their normal comfort zones and to ask the questions what and why – and how can I stand for truth? Did the darker aspects of the research affect you? There were certain sections of

research that during those weeks I felt that I had been immersed in so much darkness, subterfuge and lies that I felt really heavy. But of course I’m a Christian and the Lord’s been guiding me every step of the way. So you said the plot revolves around the earth story. Tell us more. We briefly met Jason Adrian and Nick De Vere in Book Two. In Book Three the Third World War has just ended and there’s been nuclear confrontation and Adrian De Vere – ex-UK Prime Minister – newly elected European president (Let me add – I wrote this all long before there was talk of Tony Blair!). Well Adrian is negotiating the ratification of the peace treaty between Israel, Russia, Iran, Syria, the EU and the United Nations… We go back in time to 1981 where Lucifer’s evil super scientists relay to him that they have found a scientist in the race of men who is advanced enough technologically to create his clone from the vial of progeny - his genome. Long story – but eventually Lucifer’s clone is born on December 21st 1981 and exchanged with an infant in the very influential De Vere Dynasty. The story jumps back to 2021 where Jason, Adrian and Nick are men and the plot from there – and boy are there twists and turns - it’s a hair-raising ride! I think it’s really character-driven. Your readers remark on how they love the strong visual aspect of the books – especially the 14-25-year-olds. We live in a fast moving visually frenetic media world

I’m a Creative Director by trade – as I said my life is visuals so yes, I art direct each Chronicles book cover line by line – visual by visual even choose the fonts – choose the colours – work with amazing designers. Have you started book four? I’ve been waking up at four in the morning scribbling down notes and have the basic outline. I think I will start on it soon! We hope to release “A Pale Horse” in December.

A Father’s Loss Former Chief Constable Robin Oake’s son, Stephen (above right) was murdered while on duty as a Manchester policeman. Just how did he manage to forgive? Here he explains.

hen I was told that my son, Stephen, had been murdered, I immediately started praying. As a police ofﬁcer, I was aware that tragedies happen, but as a Christian, I also knew that God never leaves us alone. We can always go to him with our problems. That night, I slept ﬁtfully. The next morning, we faced a press conference, which was quiet and sympathetic until a journalist called out, “What do you think of the man who murdered your son?” Silence. I was praying again. Thank God for the prompting He gave me. I said “I don’t know the full circumstances or the man who killed Steve but I forgive him and pray that God will forgive Him too!” “You what?” yelled another reporter. I repeated, ”I forgive him”.” Suddenly a discussion broke out. Different people came to me to ask, what did I mean, forgiving a terrorist? And I asked myself, ”What did I mean by forgiveness?” It took me hours of prayer and searching the Bible to realise that true forgiveness is possible - even for the worst of crimes. Every time I pray the Lord’s prayer, it is there, the central line – “Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.” God has forgiven me, regularly, and I have no choice but to forgive others. God has both given me the will to do this, I want to do it, and, through that forgiveness, He has healed much of my broken heart, taken away any thought of retaliation, and given me peace.

Forgiveness

How do we define this word which is so often alluded to in Christian life? What is its true meaning and its true purpose? It’s a fact that the whole basis of Christianity is founded and locked into this one act of amazing Grace, however in human terms the outpouring of Godly Forgiveness is quite often rare in its genuine form. We may say the words “I forgive you” only then to become swallowed up in a behavioural vendetta towards the person who hurt us. We want to be “seen” as having done the right thing but never quite seem to get to the part where we can “put our money where our mouth is”. Acting out our forgiveness, rather than merely verbalising, is the absolute best part of all. It’s the part where the Holy Spirit gains entry into the heart of the forgiver, breaking down walls of resentment, bitterness, hatred, trouble and torment (Hebrews 12:15 – Amplified) It may be the case that someone close to you has hurt you deeply and you find the act of forgiveness a soul wrenching minefield of unchartered territory which you cannot bring yourself to enter into. Unfortunately within the realms of finance, this is all too prevalent and money can indeed be the one area where the devil gains a massive foothold with family members not speaking to one another for years over issues such as inheritance for example. When Jesus gave up His life on the cross He did so for the very sake of creating a brand new covenant where forgiveness would live and breath in the hearts of all believers (Matthew 26:28 – Amplified) and in the hope that we would act on it also being gentle and readily pardoning each other; as God has freely forgiven us so we must also forgive (Colossians 3:13). visit www.practicalprosperity. co.uk or to contact Terry call 07946 401541
