If you are a regularly TV4LIFE reader, you will be aware from my letters that for some time now these difﬁcult ﬁnancial times have been taking their toll on the revenue needed to publish the magazine. Despite this, the TV4LIFE team has worked hard to try to make this the best magazine ever and it is thanks to the Lord you are reading it. We hope you enjoy this issue which has the theme of God the Holy Spirit and some interesting articles by Colin Urquhart (p6), Pastor Osusola Adio (p23), Trevor Newport (p26) and Joyce Meyer (p34). One of the main functions of the Holy Spirit is to glorify God the Father and God the Son and we hope our other articles do that, but especially those by Pastors Jerome and Ruth Anekwe (p8), Dr V. ETTE He Has Plans For You R! Yesterday, the March/April issue of TV4Life popped through my door, and I just wanted to tell you how much your Editor’s letter blessed my heart! You see, last Tuesday as I prayed which songs the Lord wanted me to sing at “Beauty for Ashes”, He whispered to my heart the words, “I have a plan” and reminded me of Jeremiah 29:11. I felt so excited at the thought that in the midst of every circumstance in our lives, He has a plan, and by us knowing this, we are filled with fresh hope and a future! I went along and shared and sang some songs about this, then in the evening at my housegroup, during prayers someone who knew nothing of this, felt led to pray Jeremiah 29:11. Isn’t our Lord just wonderful. I feel that this must be something that He is whispering to His people’s hearts at the moment, and it is so wonderful to have it confirmed through your letter in this issue. he Holy Spirit is God. He is as much God as the Father and His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is God living within the true believer in Jesus and His saving grace. His or her body has become a temple of the Holy Spirit, of God’s presence. So the believer has within him or her the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and enabled Him to return to heaven triumphant and glorious. These truths are awesome in their implications and cause us to ask the question: “Who is this Holy Spirit?” These truths also create in us the desire to know this Holy Spirit personally so that He can operate in our lives in the way He desires. So let us see what the New Testament teaches us about this Holy Spirit. First, Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit. He planted the seed in Mary’s womb. Before He began His ministry, the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus to enable Him to fulfil all that His Father had sent Him to accomplish. The Holy Spirit led Him through the time of testing in the wilderness before that ministry began. It was a ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is described as being “full of

the Holy Spirit” and full of the joy of the Holy Spirit. He quoted Isaiah’s prophecy that the anointing of the Lord’s Spirit was upon Him to enable Him to preach the gospel, set people free, open blind eyes and free people from oppression. We see the outworking of this prophecy in His practical ministry. During that time, according to the gospel records, Jesus said very little about the Holy Spirit, but He demonstrated His presence and the way He worked through Him to enable Him to preach the truth, heal the sick and even restore the dead to life. It was only at the Last Supper that Jesus spoke at any length to His disciples about the Holy Spirit. He did not focus on the fruit of the Holy Spirit would produce in their lives, nor on the spiritual gifts or manifestations of the Holy Spirit that would be available to them. No, He put the emphasis on the essential nature or character of the Holy Spirit. He is “another Counsellor exactly like Me, who will remain with you forever” (John 14:16). He is “the Spirit of Truth who comes from the Father,” who “will bear witness to all I have said and done,”

(John 15:26). He would reveal what is sinful and what is right in God’s eyes and would warn people of the judgement that is to come. (John 18:8) To the disciples this Spirit of Truth would give “the complete revelation of the truth.” He would not speak on His own initiative, but only what He hears from the Father and Son (John 16:13). He would prepare the disciples for what lay ahead of them in the course of their ministries. He would take hold of all that Jesus had said and done, and reveal this to those who received the Spirit. He would enable believers to receive all that belongs to the Father and the Son (John 16:14-15). The disciples had seen the way that the Holy Spirit had operated through Jesus. Now this same Spirit was going to be given to them to operate through them and subsequent believers in the same way. “I tell you the truth, anyone who puts his faith in Me will do the same things that I have been doing. He will be able to do even greater things than these because of what will happen when I return to be with the Father” (John 14:12). It was then, of course, that the Holy Spirit filled the lives of the first believers in Jerusalem at Pentecost. During His

resurrection appearances to the disciples Jesus had promised that they would be baptised in the Holy Spirit within a few days (Acts 1:5), the fulfilment of the prophetic words spoken by John the Baptist concerning Jesus. It was then, Jesus promised the disciples, that they would receive God’s power (Acts 1:8), the power they needed to communicate the gospel through word and God’s supernatural activity. The Acts of the Apostles is an exciting testimony of how the Holy Spirit operated within the believers during the first 30 years of the church’s existence. To this Paul adds much valuable teaching about the Spirit’s activity. He produces the fruit of “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” within the lives of believers (Galatians 5:22-23). In other words He reproduces the life and character of Jesus in them. He enabled believers to have inspirational and perceptive words of knowledge and wisdom, to heal the sick and perform miracles, to prophesy and pray in tongues given them by the Spirit, enabling them to pray beyond their natural understanding. The Holy Spirit gave a variety of

anointings that together would build up the Body of Christ: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. He enabled a variety of other ministries, all a necessary part of the effective working of the church. This brief summary will be well known to most readers. So why state these obvious truths now? Quite simply because the Holy Spirit is God! And God never changes, a pivotal truth of the Christian faith. So the Holy Spirit has not lost any of His power in the last two thousand years. He is still the Counsellor, the Spirit of Truth, for truth never changes. God’s Word of truth and Spirit of Truth never change. The Holy Spirit produces the same fruit in believers now as then, when they are filled with His life and allow Him to operate in their lives in the way that God intends.The same gifts or manifestations of the Spirit are available to believers now as then, for God knows we cannot effectively build His church without the supernatural activity of the Holy Spirit. May God preserve us from church services where there is little evidence of the Spirit’s presence or power; and from

ministries where there is much striving in the natural, but little evidence of God’s supernatural activity through the Holy Spirit. Yes, there are a variety of anointings, a variety of ministries, a variety of workings, but all the work of the Holy Spirit. In scripture, He is the Spirit of faith, the Spirit of glory, the Spirit who is to enable our worship and prayer. He is the Spirit without whom we cannot do anything that will produce lasting fruit that glorifies God. So let us never lose sight of our need to live daily lives full of the Spirit, lives yielded to Him so that He can lead us, enabling us to live as sons of God. We can only pray, say and do everything in the Name of Jesus, if we trust in the life and power of the Holy Spirit that God has given us for that very purpose! Jesus, the Great I AM

The time came when Jesus asked his disciples “who do men say that I the Son of Man am?” (Matthew 16:13). This is a question every person must answer not based on religion or tradition, but from the heart – who do you say Jesus is? The answer has a profound impact on our lives, and can ultimately shape our destiny and our eternal futures. When Peter received the revelation and said “you are the Christ, the Son of the living God”, Jesus called him blessed and declared that upon this revelation He will build his church (Matthew 16: v.1618). Therefore, we know that as we do our part to lift up Jesus and make Him known, He will draw all men unto Him and God will build His church. In the Gospel of John, Jesus answered the key question about Himself with seven revelatory statements each beginning with “I am”. The listeners at the time immediately knew He was equating Himself to God, who had revealed Himself to Moses as the “I AM WHO I AM” (Exodus 3:14). In doing so, God was telling Moses that He is now, and that He will be, whatever He needs Him to be. That means we today can draw strength as we walk through life and

face every obstacle, knowing that our victory comes not from focusing on who we are, but focusing on who is with us! It was this awesome revelation that Jesus invoked when He revealed Himself to the people of His day with His seven “I am” statements. There is so much we can draw from each one: 1. ”I am the bread of life” (John 6:35, 41, 48) – Jesus, is greater than natural manna, and satisfies our spiritual hunger and thirst, and with Him the God-shaped whole in every heart is filled. 2. “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12) – we no longer need be in darkness, Jesus is our wisdom, guide, and the one who leads us in the perfect way. 3. “I am the door” (John 10:7,9) – Jesus is the way to salvation, and once saved He is the access into every great and precious promise, every blessing and the beginning of all true success. 4. ”I am the good shepherd” (John 10:11, 14) – Jesus is the one who protects, keeps and delivers us like a true shepherd does for his sheep. He took responsibility for our well being to the point of laying His own life down for us.

5. “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11: 25-26) – Jesus is the one who ensures our eternal salvation through His death and resurrection. By His power He can also resurrect whatever parts of our lives, futures and destinies that seem dead. 6. “I am the way, the truth and the life” (John 14: 6) – Jesus is the express image of God and the only way to God. He is the perfect remedy for man’s sin problem and He receives all who come to Him. 7. “I am the vine” (John 15: 1, 5) – as we remain in and abide vitally united to Jesus, then we are able to bear fruit and see the promises of God come to pass in our lives. We pray that you would know Him as the great “I am”. He makes the weak strong, heals the broken-hearted, and gives beauty for all our ashes, and may He indeed be everything you need Him to be. Prophet Samson Ayorinde has a mandate to evangelize the whole world and he is aiming to do so by preaching the Word on Faith TV. Sally Anderson-Wai of TV4LIFE reports. What are your plans for the future?

Prophet Dr Samson Ayorinde and Prophetess Mrs Mercy Ayorinde How did World Evangelism Bible Church come to have Faith TV? By miracles. The channel was offered to me for lease because it was having difﬁculties getting viewers. We arranged to take it up in 2008 with TMH Telemedia Services, (now TMH Outdoor) to do our sales and administration for us. I started showing my television programmes “Samson Ayorinde Live” and the viewing ﬁgures quickly tripled because of the gift of miracles that God has given me. Faith does not just show my programmes though. I also made sure that it was opened up as a platform for other ministries so that they can give viewers access to the Gospel through television media. Faith TV is now one of the leading Christian Television Channels in Europe and Africa. Why Is It Called Faith TV? The channel was already called Faith TV but I love the word “faith”. It is my message and without faith you can’t please God. What is your vision? My vision is to evangelize the world through Faith TV. The Lord gave the name of my church World Evangelism Bible Church to me when I was fasting. I was taken to heaven and met the Lord and he told me the name of my ministry and gave me the gift of working miracles.

About a year ago we asked the viewers what they wanted and they said they wanted to move the channel to the next level to encourage the work of the Kingdom of God. We are already making plans for a worldwide campaign, which will take place at Potharcourt, Nigeria, in December and be broadcast all around the world. We are expecting a million people each night. If you want to see miracles happen you should try to be there. You said earlier that God has given you the gift of miracles, could you explain further? We have had lots of testimonies of people being healed during my programme. Women who have been barren are having babies; people who were deaf can hear and short limbs are lengthened as I command them in the name of Jesus. Lumps and tumours have also disappeared and people have been healed of diabetes.

Holy life, be a disciple and seek the face of the Lord. You also need to fast and pray like our Master. You start off by fasting for three days only having water. If you don’t receive anything from God in that time, then you extend your fast to seven days. If you don’t receive anything from God in that time, then you extend your fast to 10, then 21 days and then 40 days. I fast as often as God requires. God will work with you as you continue to seek Him. You often hear of ministers falling from grace through sin. How do you avoid this? Through consistency and staying close to the Word of God. Also by working with other Christian leaders and staying close to the God-given vision. What is your vision for Faith TV?

We have had so many testimonies, which is very encouraging.

My vision is to take the Gospel all over the Globe and get Faith TV to cover all the continents, including Japan. Evangelism is my main focus.

How do you prepare for a television programme?

I was ﬁrst on television in Nigeria in 1992. I do a lot of fasting and praying and seeking God to prepare the message. This is what I normally do.

In an exclusive interview with TV4LIFE, the presenter of “Joni And Friends”, who is recovering from breast cancer, said it goes against God’s Commandment, “Thou shalt not kill.” Joni was just 17-years-old when she broke her neck in a diving accident at Chesapeak Bay, Maryland, USA, in July 1967 and she has been in a wheelchair ever since. Despite her disability, she learned how to paint by holding a brush in her mouth, helps thousands of people through her charity by sending refurbished wheelchairs to the disabled across the globe and her latest book, “A Place Of Healing” has just been short-listed as a ﬁnalist in the 2011 Christian Book Awards. “Most disability leaders are very alarmed that so many countries are pushing for physician assisted suicide” said Joni. “They think it’s ok if a quadriplegic wants to end their life. These views are becoming a basis for social policy, but the well-being of society should not be evidenced by how quickly it gets rid of people with disabilities or the elderly, but

how it takes care of them. “The commandment, “Thou shalt not kill,” includes selfmurder, even if someone is despairing of life. The problem may not be their disability or age but depression which can be treated.” She remembers that she felt very depressed after being found paralysed, floating face down in the sea by her sister. “I was despairing when I heard I could not walk or use my hands. I couldn’t process it at first,” Joni said. “ It was my Christian friends who came and visited me consistently and who took me to the mall or brought me pizza. They did all kinds of things for me. “It was their love that finally won me over so when they opened their Bibles, I was prepared to listen. I prayed a short, but very personal prayer. “God, if I can’t die, then show me how to live. “ She began to read her Bible and then started to love God and saw Him use her for His purposes. “I don’t know what I’d be doing now if I could use my legs, but I know I wouldn’t be involved in a ministry helping hundreds of thousands of lives,” said Joni. Smile Of A Child TBN TBN’s “Smile of a Child” has sparked special viewer interest as an emerging niche network star, according to new research. In their newsletter, TBN says both “Smile Of A Child” TV and JCTV were highly rated in their respective demographics according to the latest study from Beta Research.

Twenty-ﬁve per cent of adults with children expressed interest in receiving “Smile Of A Child”, 18 per cent of adults aged 18 to 34 and 19 per cent of teenagers expressed high interest in having JCTV as part of their schedule (According to Beta). In The Spotlight With Rachel and Jonathan Lamb are the children of the Daystar Television Network founders Marcus and Joni Lamb. They present Daystar’s “Check The Sound” programme with their sister Rebecca. In an exclusive interview with TV4LIFE’s Sally Anderson-Wai they shared their thoughts on God, their work and their parents. Can you give a brief testimony of how you became a Christian? Jonathan: I was raised by a great family and grew up in church. I think I ofﬁcially became a Christian at aged ﬁve. Rachel: I have grown up my whole life going to church and being taught what it means to be a Christian. Looking back, I can’t even pin point when I accepted the Lord as my Saviour, because it is what I’ve always known. When I got to college though, I started

questioning what it was I believed. I didn’t want to believe something just because it’s what I’ve been told was right my whole life, but rather because I knew it in my heart to be true. I went on a journey searching for the peace I can now say I enjoy today.

Him. His love is all encompassing, His grace abounding, and His compassion undeniable. Living in a world that is completely opposite these things, makes me appreciate Him even more with every day that passes. What does your quiet time entail?

What was it like growing up with such well-known parents? Jonathan: It is good and bad. It’s great because they are such amazing people and I love everything they stand for and represent. The bad is that you can’t really “blend in” when you are out and about, ha ha. Rachel: People have always expected me to act, live, and be a certain way because my parents are in Christian television. It could be overwhelming to me at times, because I found myself trying to live within these expectations people had created for me. The higher I was put on a pedestal, the harder I fell every time I did not get it right. The Lord has taught me though, that trying to please everyone only leads to a miserable life. I’m not perfect, therefore I cannot expect myself to be. When it comes down to it, we are all human. So just because I was raised in a ministry family does not put me above sin. I live by grace every day, and understanding that makes it easier to move on from the expectations people have placed upon me. What does the Lord mean to you? Jonathan: Everything. The reason we live our lives. Rachel: There is not enough time, space or words to accurately describe the magnitude of gratefulness I have for tv4life.com

Jonathan: My quiet time consists of prayer and listening to sermon podcasts of different preachers I follow. Rachel: If I am being 100 per cent honest here, I have to say I don’t have quiet time that often... I treat my relationship with Him like any other I might have. So, while I don’t necessarily have a quiet time, I spend time with him throughout my entire day. When I’m upset I cry to Him, when I’m happy I talk to Him, when I’m tired I pray to Him, etc. It’s like the old saying goes, “I don’t think I’ve ever prayed for an hour, but I don’t think I’ve ever gone an hour without praying!” When did you ﬁrst start working on Daystar and how did “Check The Sound” start? Jonathan: I’ve been working at Daystar since I started working here as a summer job back in my middle school days. After I graduated from college, I returned to work full-time. Rachel: I’ve worked at Daystar ever since I was young, shredding paper, running errands for people and ﬁling things. As I grew older, I began to understand more of what Daystar was in terms of television. I longed to create innovative shows that captured a younger generation. I remember going to my dad when I was around 13 and asking him to create a band show for young people to watch on Daystar. He used to always smile really big

‘s New Generation and say, “When you are older one day, you can do one for me!” I remember thinking “yeah right!” A few years later, the Lord spoke to me one night to go to my brother’s book shelf by his room. One stuck out to me in particular, “The Prayer of Jabez”. I remember as clear as day feeling as the Lord was telling me to read that book. It was all about praying for the Lord to bless and expand your territory. It chronicled stories of the amazing things God had done when people had prayed this prayer. So, every night for a month I prayed the prayer in the back of the book. Soon after, I got a call from my parents’ producer asking if I would be willing to host their show with my brother and sister one time. After all of us had agreed, the producers started planning what the show would entail. Next thing we know, one show turned into an entirely different show, called “Check the Sound” and here we are today. I don’t doubt that God was testing my obedience when listening to His voice. I believe it was because I took the time to listen to Him that He rewarded me in such a fantastic way. It just goes to show you the power our prayers can have and how drastically your life can change when you are in the will of the Lord.

Are you involved in any other area of Daystar?

Do you have plans to start any other programmes or new ventures?

Jonathan: To get married and continue working on doing new and exciting things here at Daystar.

Jonathan: Yes, there will always be new and exciting programmes that we will be producing at Daystar. Rachel: Since we started “Check the Sound”, I created a small segment that airs on breaks within the show called “Take Action”. It follows my brother, sister and me to different places around the world, capturing different projects we’ve been involved in, while spreading the Gospel. The idea is to show other young people, that like us, they too can impact their world! We always say, “Why live on the edge, when you can jump off?”

Jonathan: I’m involved in the business end and help my dad with a lot of different projects. My ofﬁcial title is Director of Corporate Relations. Rachel: I work on various consulting projects, write a blog for our website, and constantly work on coming up with ways for us to be as innovative as possible. Whatever we might be working on though, we do it as a team. We each have such different talents and abilities that we all have something unique to bring to the table. What are your interests? Jonathan: My ﬁancé, golf, traveling, exotic foods, business. Rachel: I’m in my last year of college where I’ve majored in business administration and minored in history as well as religious studies. Apart from my studies and work though, I really do enjoy writing my blog at www.daystar. com/rachel and working on my clothing line Red Ink. What are your plans for the future?

Rachel: If I knew exactly what I was going to be doing, I would most deﬁnitely tell you! However, I have discovered that with every day that passes, so do new opportunities. Any comments on what has happened recently when your father confessed on TV to having an affair? Rachel: When I ﬁrst found out about everything, I immediately retreated to get away from it all. I spent a lot of time on my own just processing all that had taken place. In those moments of tv4life.com

reﬂection, the Lord really softened my heart. He spoke to me and said, “If the grace your Dad has been preaching his whole life isn’t available to him, then think of how much time he has wasted.” What a powerful statement that was to me. My Dad had been preaching his whole life of the power of God’s grace, and now it was his turn to receive this precious gift of redemption. Through this experience, I’ve learned no matter how great someone is, no matter the esteem we hold them to, no matter what they’ve done, or even where they’ve been, just as surely as people stand, they too can fall. When they do, I have a choice to make on whether or not I’m going to forgive them. However, it’s the grace we choose to bestow to others that might be the same grace we one day will need to receive.

The Ministry Of The Comforter

ust after I received Christ into my life, I began to wonder how I would ever make it as Christian? Will I be able to withstand the influence of my previous associations, stop smoking and still remain a Christian? I went to “get filled with the Holy Ghost” as they call it. The brother read from Acts 2:4 and told me that as soon as I got filled with the Holy Ghost I would start speaking in tongues and it would be a language I never understood that would come straight from within my belly. He prayed for me and led me through a confession time to affirm that I had received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Then he laid his hands on my stomach and started praying in this strange language. After about a minute, I felt some strange sensations in my stomach and I just started praying in tongues. The passages Act 2:2-4, Act 10:45-46 and Act 19:6 tell us that all those who received the baptism of the Holy Spirit began to speak with other tongues. By a miracle, I had lost every urge to either smoke or crave bad company. Later on in my Christian walk, I discovered that it was a fulfilment of John the Baptist’s prophecy in Matt 3:1112. The Holy Spirit purged me of these impurities and this ministry of His is still ongoing in my life as a believer.

The Practice of Speaking in Tongues It is very important that we maintain the practice of speaking in tongues because it has a lot of benefits. When we pray in tongues we charge ourselves up spiritually (1 Cor 14:4); we communicate with God in an intimate way (1 Cor 14:2) and we overcome the limitations of our minds and our flesh (Rom 8:26-27). When we sing in tongues, we worship God more effectively (1 Cor 14:15). I call the ministry of the Holy Ghost the intrinsic ministry and extrinsic ministry. The intrinsic ministry has to do with how the Holy Ghost operates in our personal lives which affects our character, behaviour and productivity while the extrinsic ministry has to do with the public ministry of the Holy Ghost through other members and ministers of the Body of Christ. The Extrinsic Ministry In John 7:37-39, Jesus talks of a public flow of the Spirit that manifests in the nine gifts of the spirit and the ministry gifts. This ministry is very essential to the expansion and maintenance of the Body of Christ as it manifests in signs and wonders which helps to spread the message of Christ to all nations. This ministry is in operation every Sunday when people come to Church for their “Sunday fixes” expecting to receive a blessing, a special Word or a touch from God. Many times when people feel very low spiritually, they go to church expecting a lift from the service. It is the

extrinsic ministry of the Holy Spirit that takes care of our needs as believers. This ministry results in “the acts of God” but not necessarily in the reformation of our Christian characters. Read about the extrinsic ministry of the Holy Spirit in the Acts of the Apostles. The Intrinsic Ministry This is the personal ministry of the Holy Spirit, as Jesus referred to in John 4:1314. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit will: comfort us (John 14:16); teach us (John 14:26); remind us (John 14:26); guide us into all truth and will open the Word of God to us (John 16:13); reveal the future to us (John 16:13); will help us walk in the fruit of the spirit (Gal 5:19-22); glorify Christ and also help us to (John 16:14). It’s a personalised ministry. It’s possible for me to know what the future is from the Holy Spirit and for you not to. This ministry is not as strongly emphasised as the extrinsic one today. The intrinsic ministry of the Holy Spirit requires the active co-operation, involvement and personal responsibility of the believer. As we enjoy the extrinsic ministry of the Holy Spirit let us also crave for the activities of the intrinsic ministry in our lives. It’s the intrinsic ministry that forms the image and the character of Christ in us and makes us mature believers in Christ Jesus. (Gal 4:19). Without the intrinsic ministry operating in us, our lives will be shallow spiritually and lack backbone and foundation required to make us excel in today’s risky world.

You may be passing through sickness, worries and trials in your life. You may be tired of waiting for a healing in your body, home or your ﬁnances. No matter what road you are travelling, the road of sorrow and sickness will end because somewhere down that road Jesus will join you through his Holy Spirit. When Jesus was there, news came that the man whom He loved was sick. In the third verse the news came, “Lazarus whom you love is sick”. We might wonder, “If God loves me why should I go through problems and sickness?”. This question comes naturally. But this has been dirtily given to us by the defeated devil through our wanting, wondering, and wavering minds. When you are wondering and wavering, the defeated devil puts that idea: “Where is God? You say that He loves you but why is it you are sick, why is it that you are wanting?”

No matter what you are going through today, Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, is entering your life. Sin will be removed and holiness will be given, sickness will be removed and health and long life will be given, poverty will be eradicated and great sufficiency and surplus will be given to you and me in Jesus’ name. The bible says, here is a man who loved Jesus and Jesus loved him. Whenever Jesus was close to Jerusalem, He always stayed in Bethany, two miles away, to avoid the crowds. Martha, Mary and Lazarus looked after Jesus well. Jesus loved that home. Now the same home was grieving and weeping because Lazarus was dead. The moment Jesus heard Lazarus was sick, He said He would wait there for two days because it was not unto death but for the glory of God. When Jesus was ready to go after two days, the disciples were frightened and said, “Don’t go there now, they are all against you. In Judaea they are all against you”. The disciples were confused whether to go with Jesus or not. But Jesus had to tell them the plain truth. He said Lazarus is asleep now. Every miracle brings glory to God. Every miracle brings joy and faith in the lives of people. Miracles cause sinners to repent. Signs, wonders and miracles in the ministries are a must. Why did Peter come and fall before Jesus and say, “I am a sinner, leave me”. This was because when Jesus said put all your nets, he put just one net and all the fish filled the

boats. When Peter saw that astounding, incredible miracle which never happened in his life before, he came and fell before Jesus. That’s why the preaching of the gospel must be conﬁrmed with signs, wonders and miracles immediately. Then Jesus said: “Look I have to go now” and they said why Jesus? “He’s asleep; I must go and wake him up!” They said, “If he is asleep he’ll get up. We’ll be here. It is dangerous to go there now. Don’t go there.” Jesus looked at them and said, “He is dead!” Then they said, “Oh, then we’ll all go!” When Jesus arrived, it was four days that Lazarus was in the tomb. The coming of the Lord to raise us up is very imminent and near now. When he went there, Martha, the elder sister, came running and said, “Lord if you had been here my brother would not have died but even now I know that whatever you ask God, God will give you.” Jesus said, “Yes your brother will rise again.” Then she said, “I know he will rise in the resurrection of the last day.” When Martha spoke these words she didn’t mean it. She was speaking hope. She was living by hope. The bible doesn’t say that you and I live by hope; the Bible says we live by faith. Hope is then; faith is now. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life.” He is the power of God! John 3:35 says, “My Father has given everything in my hands. If I say, it will happen”. And Jesus said, “He who

Martha spoke hope and knowledge; Mary spoke faith and love! How many of you can see the difference here? The bible says when Jesus heard that, Jesus also wept. Jesus enters into the pain of your life. He couldn’t enter into the pain then, because Martha spoke hope and knowledge. I want you and me to speak faith with love. That comes by prayer; that comes by regular attendance and attachment to the main church faithfully and continually. Jesus wept, the moment He heard the same words from both sides– one is hope and knowledge, one is faith and love. With Martha he couldn’t enter into their pain but with Mary, so broken with faith and love, He entered into the pain, the loneliness and grief of that family. He is a loving God. He feels our pain, sorrow and grief. He is God who came as man today to deliver, save and heal you. The moment she started crying, He said, “Show me where you have laid him”. Martha again came and said, “Sir, it must be stinking; there must be a stench there. Already four days have passed!” Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that you will see the glory of God if you believe?”

With terrible chest pain and breathing difﬁculties, another woman was instantly healed through the “Word of knowledge” and the power of the Holy Spirit. A lady, who had severe back pain for 20 years and was unable to bend or work properly, was healed instantly and walked perfectly as the Holy Spirit ﬁlled her.

What authority! Tears inside but authority outside! That is anointing. He didn’t sit there and cry with Martha and Mary. He cried inside. That is how a king lives. As a priest you weep; as a king you exercise authority over every work of the defeated devil. You and I are “kings and priests” on this earth (Revelation 1:6.). Jesus said, “Lazarus come forth!” He spoke one word, one sentence and Lazarus came bound in his grave clothes. Today, the work given to the church is to loosen people. He has already raised them up. He has already forgiven our sins. Satan and death were defeated. Lazarus came out. The bible says he was still with his grave clothes. Then He gave the responsibility to others to loosen him and let him walk. That loosening is what the Holy Spirit is doing now. His friends came and loosened Lazarus and he walked in Jesus’ mighty name. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever “(Heb 13:8). Jesus said, “.. greater works than these you will do” (John 14:12).

Are You Called To Be An Apostle?

n the last four decades the Holy Spirit has been restoring many things back to the church all over the world. During the 70s, it was the charismatic renewal movement where the gifts of the Spirit were emphasized across all types of churches. In the 80s, the Word of faith movement was born bringing much understanding of who we are in Christ, faith, the authority of the believer and covenant healing. Then in the 90s, there was a shift into the prophetic. Conference after conference on the office of prophet was witnessed globally. Then around 2000, there was another major restoration. God was restoring apostles back to the church. Now there have always been apostles since the day of Pentecost and we have seen many movements rise in the last six decades where apostles have been raised up to pioneer thousands of churches. What does an apostle do? Firstly, there are different types of apostles. There are city apostles who are used by God to raise up large strategic churches. Then, there are travelling apostles who help pastors to fulfill their calling. Paul the Apostle was both at differing times of his ministry. He pioneered churches and also travelled to help establish them. What are the signs of an apostle? “Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds,” 2Cor 12:12.

An apostle must have gone through the ranks of several of the other ministry gifts as listed in Eph 4:11. I can trace the development of my own calling. I started off as a teacher of the Word. Then the pastor gift came upon me, then prophet. I have done the work of an evangelist but have never considered myself as set in that office although I see people saved. Then when I was 33, the Lord spoke to my heart and told me that I was an apostle. I resisted this for three years until I finally accepted this office. I had been in full time ministry for 15 years by that time and was leading my fourth church. I had a personal visit from Jesus Christ who came from heaven with three angels and sealed my apostleship. I have never looked back. My primary calling has developed over the years and I spend most of my time serving pastors in different countries and helping them to be high achievers. I have emails from pastors all over the world as well as the UK. How does a person know if they are called to be an apostle? Firstly, Paul had been in ministry for 13 years before he was called as an apostle. That is a good time span for us all. You can't mentor pastors if you have never been one yourself! I believe that the Lord Himself will speak to you about being an apostle. Apostles recognize other apostles and help to release them. As I have travelled, I have had to recognize pastors into the office of an apostle in front of their churches. This has helped many to take up the office to which they were called. In fact, many

have said to me that they were waiting for an apostle to confirm it, as they would not accept it from a prophet. Can a pastor fulfil his calling without an apostle? There are many lone rangers who lead a church without true alignment with a genuine apostle. Many have not found someone who they can look up to. I believe that every pastor needs an apostle to realize their full potential in ministry. I am talking about having a proper relationship with an apostle and not simply an administrative position. True apostleship must be relational. In other words, if you had a problem you would be able to confide in that person and know that it would be kept confidential. Set Your Face To Your Mission

e serve a God of purpose. He has given each of us a purpose and a set time to fulfil it. Jesus came for a purpose. He had approximately 33 years to fulfil His ultimate mission, which was to “to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). Likewise you have a God-given assignment. God ordained your purpose but the responsibility lies with you to discover and fulfil it. While on earth, Jesus performed countless miracles yet He never lost sight of His main mission. He knew He was to die as a ransom for mankind and be resurrected, so His death did not take Him by surprise. He was fully aware that His death was planned by God and was in no way a plot from men or Satan. When the time came for Him to fulfil His ultimate mission, “He set his face to go to Jerusalem” (Luke 9:51), the place of the fulfilment of His mission. When you discover your mission in life, it’s vital that you set your face towards that mission. Too many people often allow a lack of focus to hinder them from fulfilling their assignment. When you find out what God created you to do, it is important you remain steadfast in following that mission. In the multitude of activities, never lose sight of your mission; determine to reach your destination.

Jerusalem was an important place in Jesus’ earthly mission. Ironically, as He set his face towards Jerusalem, the cheering crowd of followers assumed His triumphant entry into the city marked the end of the Roman Empire. They expected Him to lead a revolt against the authority of the Romans. Sometimes your assignment can be misunderstood by people around you. Jesus hadn’t come to overthrow Caesar, He had come to die. Jerusalem was a critical and necessary place for Jesus because it was the place of death and resurrection. For Jesus, Jerusalem represented a place of suffering and death. We all have our “Jerusalem” to go to at some point in our lives. “Jerusalem” is the place you must go to in order to fulfil your purpose. It’s a place where you learn to die to your own vision in order to embrace God’s vision for your life. Jerusalem is the place of sacrifice. It is seldom a place of joy or happiness. In the case of our Lord Jesus Christ, it was the place where he was beaten, suffered pain and finally died. But “for the joy that was set before Him, He endured the cross, despising the shame...”Heb 12:2). Most people run away from their “Jerusalem” knowing what it represents. More often than not, many will try to go to Samaria (Luke 9:52-54) instead of Jerusalem. Samaria represents our comfort zones where we are not challenged.

Paul had to go to Jerusalem, although pain and suffering awaited him (Acts 21:10-11). The believers in Ephesus tried to dissuade him from his journey. His reply to them was: “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the Name of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 21:13). He knew that Jerusalem was part of his life purpose. Paul was more than willing to pay the price to fulfil God’s call on His life. For both Jesus and Paul, going to Jerusalem was necessary. Jerusalem therefore represents the price we must pay in order to fulfil God’s plan for our lives. Jesus kept moving towards Jerusalem undeterred because He was arrested by a deep sense of urgency for His mission. There is always a price to pay for the fulfilment of your assignment. This year, God wants to manifest Himself in your life. But you will have to go through certain uncomfortable places. Remember this truth however: Jerusalem was also the place of resurrection. Therefore, after you’ve gone through your Jerusalem, rest assured that the Lord will come and glorify Himself in and through you. Supporting Japan Christians are rallying together to help and pray for people in Japan after an earthquake and tsunami devastated communities and caused a nuclear crisis. A 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami hit north-east Japan leaving 13,228 people dead, 14,529 missing and 150,000 people homeless. The Fukushima Daiichi power plant was also damaged and Japanese authorities raised the severity rating of their nuclear crisis to the highest level, seven. Radiation from the plant has been recorded in the UK. In a rare televised address, Japanese Emperor Akihito said he was praying for the people of Japan and admitted that he was “deeply worried” about the nuclear situation. Immediately after the natural disasters, the Methodist Church in Britain’s World Mission Fund launched an appeal and The Lausanne Movement is asking Christians to do everything they can to offer comfort, encouragement and tangible support to Japan as it struggles with the nuclear crisis and the massive recovery effort. The ACT Alliance of Christian development agencies said that the relief supply needs at evacuation sites were increasing and World Vision is also responding, focussing on the needs of children. Meanwhile Joyce Meyer Ministries is sending bicycles for aid workers and pastors to distribute supplies, 5,000 hygiene kits and 15,000 kits with underwear, feminine hygiene items and protective masks. Joyce Meyer said: “Please join us in prayer for those who have lost loved ones, have been injured or have been impacted by this disaster in any way.”

David Wilkerson Killed In Car Crash David Wilkerson, author of “The Cross and the Switchblade” and founder of World Challenge Ministries, has died in a car crash. The 79-year-old pastor was driving east on U.S. 175 in Texas when his car crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a truck driving in the opposite direction, according to Public Safety Trooper Eric Long. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife Gwen was also in the car and was rushed to hospital along with the truck driver. It is unclear what caused the Pastor’s car to veer into the opposite lane, but the accident is being investigated. The church David founded, Times Square Church in New York City, has more than 8,000 members and it broadcasts a programme on satellite TV.

Malawi School Threatened With Closure An African school funded by donations from the British public is in danger of closing if more sponsors cannot be found. Reaper Ministries started Good Hope Free Primary School in 2007 in Lilongwe, Malawi, along with the local mission The Revival Church of God. A total of 180 pupils are currently taught by four teachers at a cost of £12,000 a year, but the school could close as the funding is drying up. One child’s education costs £45 a year. Evangelist Richard Trotter of Dufﬁeld, Derbyshire, who founded Reaper Ministries and the school after an appeal said: “We need at least £1,000 a month to keep it going. The school is in danger of closing, but we are praying donations will come in.” The Malawian Government has said it will eventually pay for the salaries of two teachers but this will still leave the cost of the other two teachers’s wages, books, materials and uniforms for underprivileged children to ﬁnd. Anger As Schools Ban Gideons’ Bibles Two Staffordshire schools have banned Gideons International from offering free Bibles to pupils. Despite thousands of schools welcoming the respected group each year, Abbot Beyne School and Paget High School claimed the offer of a Bible was inappropriate. Critics say the schools are being overly sensitive and questioned whether they may be pushing an agnostic agenda. Gideons offer copies of the New Testament and Psalms to children in thousands of British secondary schools each year. The Bible Society’s Canon Dr Ann Holt said: “I have never met a single person of another faith in this country who objected to distribution of Bibles and the robust teaching of Christian Faith. They expect it. “Such actions tend to come from white agnostics with an agenda of their own, or from people who really do not know how to manage the co-existence of a number of faiths, other than by outlawing them all.” Deputy head teacher of Abbot Beyne School, Maggie Tate, said they had stopped the Gideons coming in because “we are a comprehensive multi-faith school”. She added: “We felt it was inappropriate to allow one faith group to distribute material in school.”

I am in favour of the monarchy. The Sovereign fulfils important roles as head of state and hereditary monarchy has an often-overlooked merit: neither money, media pressure nor manipulation can get you the job. The monarchy also adds stability to British politics: prime ministers and governments come and go but the monarchy endures. Finally, the monarchy acts to defend the people against chaos or tyranny. Some assume that societies automatically tend to democracy and the rule of law and so find little need for a monarch. But I am less optimistic, believing that without God’s grace, our desires tend towards selfishness. I found the arguments against the royal wedding unpersuasive. In some I detected a selfishness that was a very long way from love or graciousness. The main genuine argument against the royal wedding was its cost – could the money have been spent on the poor? I’m in favour of a genuine concern for the poor but not convinced that abolishing the monarchy would be a wise way forward. Beneath distaste for the royal wedding lay an aversion to the monarchy based on the feeling that it promotes an outdated class system. Yet removing the monarchy would not produce an equal society; we would simply replace the monarchy with a new and unofficial aristocracy based around money, power or fame. We live in a hierarchical universe under God; we serve the king who rules over all, including monarchs. This is symbolically stated at the coronation when the monarch holds two sceptres, one of which – the Sovereign’s Sceptre with a cross – represents “the monarch’s temporal power under God”. The Queen has always made it clear that she feels responsible to God for how she carries out her role. So I am convinced that the royal wedding was a good thing. www.philotrust.com

In The Face of Conﬂict Middle East Unrest And Its Affect on Israel

ires of unrest are blowing throughout the Middle East as protesters gather in city centres, side streets and cafes, the conflict ignited some would say by social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and You Tube. The Tunisian Government has fallen, the Jordanian Cabinet has been sacked, a no-fly zone has been imposed against Libya and there is unrest across the region in Morocco, Algeria, Jordon, Bahrain, Yemen and Oman. The question is why is this happening, where is it leading to and what effect does it have on the nation of Israel? Many of us are glued to the media coverage as events unfold before our eyes and having seen the TV coverage of the riots and fighting amongst angry protesters in Tahrir Square, Cairo, Egypt, I was reminded of Isaiah 19:2 where God says: “I will stir up Egyptian against Egyptian - brother will fight against brother, neighbour against neighbour, city against city, kingdom against kingdom”. A YouTube video of an MSNBC news clip posted on the web shows the ghostly image of a pale horse emerging from a crowd of Egyptian rioters. Whether or not it is the Pale Horse of Revelation 6:8 this has certainly made people consider the Biblical significance of events. Journalists have suggested that social networks are fanning the flames of unrest. BBC News Correspondent John

Leyne goes on to say that “one page called for protesters all over Egypt to gather after prayers”. The meetings after prayer in the Mosques show the very important role that Islam and the Imam’s have played behind the scenes. A number of Biblical Scholars refer to Iran as being the King of the South in Daniel 11:40-44 having influence or indeed control over Egypt. Iran has certainly taken advantage of the situation. Shlomo Mordecai of Israel Today reported “For the first time since the Iranian Revolution in 1979, two Iranian warships sailed through Egypt’s Suez Canal exposing a new regional balance of power. Iranian warships never sailed through the canal during the 30 year rule of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak because he would not have let them through. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said “Israel views the Iranian step with gravity … we see today what kind of unstable area we live in-an area, where Iran is trying to exploit the situation that’s been created to expand its influence”. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has infamously said that Iran would “wipe Israel off the map” and has been involved in the nations around Israel Ahmadinejad visiting Lebanon only just last year. we are seeing is a tragic repeat of history. In 1979, U.S. President Jimmy Carter pressured the Shah of Iran to quickly implement democracy in a nation that wasn’t ready for it and the Shah fell from power in Iran. Much of the world media was enthralled, as the “prodemocracy” demonstrators of that time filled the streets of Teheran, calling for the overthrow of the hated dictator. The result was the Islamic revolution, now spreading throughout the Middle East. The events in Egypt are a tragic repeat performance. There are now Islamic militants in control in Lebanon and Gaza, and maybe soon in Jordan. Israel will be surrounded on all sides by Islamic extremists seeking Israel’s destruction”. The Bible warns us that just before the end all nations will come against Israel “Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon” talking about the valley of Megiddo in Northern Israel (Revelation 16:16) and against Jerusalem “I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it” (Zechariah 14:2). re you tired of your life being dry, confused and without direction? Are you weary of having to strive for everything in life? It may be because the river of life inside of you is stopped up. God’s Gift Of Life Deep inside each of us, there is a river of life. This river is a wonderful gift given to each of us by God. It flows with good health, a positive outlook on life, and a generous and forgiving attitude. Ideally, this river flows freely through us. When we allow this flow and keep our "well" from getting plugged-up, there's a peace or an ease—a current that takes us along—and everything seems easier. Good things come our way. When wonderful opportunities are presented to us, we're ready for them. It also refreshes, renews and revitalizes our lives. I'm sure all of us have known people from time to time who defied all logic and stayed alive years longer than they should have. Or you may have known people who've been able to keep a positive outlook on life even though terrible things happened to them. Their river ran strong and didn’t stop flowing. When The Well Gets Clogged On the other hand, there are those who always seem to be down, whether physically or emotionally. No matter what they do, they can't seem to "snap out of it." Their river has been stoppedup, and only a little trickle seems to pass through.

The Blood of Jesus - Our Stronghold by Dr Abraham Daniel-Joel

he Word of God, which is our final authority, tells us we are in the last days. Satan, knowing that his end is fast approaching, is relentlessly unleashing his power against Christians. This world is not a playground – it’s a battleground (Revelation 12:12). However, Satan can be overcome. God, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, has provided His Church of the last days a stronghold - the Blood of Jesus! Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines a fort (stronghold) as: “A fortified place.. a place surrounded with a ditch… or other means of defense... any building or place fortified for security against an enemy.” Unfortunately, few Christians know the power of the Blood of Jesus as their stronghold. Zechariah 9:11-12 says, “As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water. Turn you to the stronghold, ye prisoners of hope: even today do I declare that I will render double unto thee.” Satan and his demons cannot attack a believer, who by faith, makes the Blood their stronghold. No devil has ever crossed the bloodline (blood stronghold) to attack!

God’s Ultimate Weapon God has provided us many weapons in our warfare but the Blood of Jesus is God’s ultimate weapon. In Egypt, God worked many mighty wonders/signs and still Pharaoh would not let His people go but when God unleashed His final weapon - blood - they were released immediately! Exodus 11:1 says, “And the Lord said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.” The children of Israel were told to kill a blemish-free lamb or goat, eat the flesh roasted, use hyssop to apply the blood on the lintel and side posts of their doors and to stay behind the blood-fortified door (Exodus 12). God promised that Satan would not be able to cross the bloodline to harm them because His Spirit would passover their doors and empower the blood to speak “Passover words of command” to the devil, that cannot be resisted. Jesus our Passover Lamb God gave the blood stronghold as an ordinance to continue until the end of age (Exodus 12:14,17,24). He then provided Jesus as our Passover Lamb whose blood

does greater wonders than the blood of animals. John 1:29 says, “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world”; and 1 Corinthians 5:7 says, “... Get On Track For The 2012 Games There’s just over a year until the 2012 London Olympic Games start and it will be an ideal opportunity to reach people with the gospel. The multi-denominational agency More Than Gold is advising churches how to respond.

or churches in the UK, the 2012 Games are a once-in-a lifetime opportunity. And they are coming “ready or not”.

The 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics present the UK with its greatest logistical challenge since the last war. They also present churches in the UK with one of their greatest opportunities ever. “What the churches of the UK seem to be best at,” says Rev Canon Duncan Green, the C of E’s top man for the Games, “is being where people are not. And the 2012 Games offers churches a great way to be where people are. To join in the party and do those things the church does best”. And this is what has been happening around the world at Summer and Winter games for almost two decades. For example, in Atlanta, churches gave out over 3 million cups of cold water; in Sydney, churches ran over 100 sports clinics for disadvantaged young people and in Beijing, over 30 teams of creative artists performed in pubs, clubs, malls, coffee houses and orphanages. Now the baton has been passed to the UK, which gives churches a great 40 may/jun

opportunity to use acts of outreach, service and hospitality to engage with their communities. Daunting though this may sound, help is at hand. The main denominations have established More Than Gold, a temporary agency to help every church make the most of the Games. This is because the Games will impact the whole of the UK and not just London. Wherever churches are, their communities will experience “Olympic fever” as the result of the media, schools, advertising and the live screen events taking place in over 20 centres. And the Torch Relay will come in easy reach of almost the whole of the UK. “There is something appropriate that every church can do in the context of the Games to engage with their communities,” said David Willson, the CEO of More Than Gold, who has spent almost twenty years coordinating the Christian response to more than 40 major sporting events worldwide. “We are coordinating the skills and experience of over 60 Christian agencies to provide the resources and training that will help churches.” tv4life.com

Among a vast range of resources in preparation are children’s holiday club materials with a sports theme. And on tap is a pub-style sports quiz for church members to invite their friends. More Than Gold is asking every church to appoint their own “Gold Champion” – someone to receive a steady but not overwhelming supply of information to help them pick what will work the best for them during the coming year as well as the weeks of the Games. “On Your Marks” is the title for 18 presentations in major centres taking place during May and June. They come from More Than Gold, the agency established by the main denominations to help churches respond to the 2012 Games. The focus this time is on helping churches turn inspiration into local activity. “On Your Marks” will be going to Esher, Oxford, Wimbledon, Rochester, Welling, Chiswick, Stratford, Bristol, Weymouth, Worthing, Chelmsford, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Leicester, Newcastle, Cambridge, Central London and Nottingham. Why am I here?

Have you ever wondered what life is all about? Why were we born into the world in the ﬁrst place? Is there more to life than this? Can we be truly happy in our life here on earth? The key to understanding the meaning of life and ﬁnding true happiness lies in knowing your purpose in life. The Bible says there is a God who loves you. This is a good God, who created you to have a relationship with Him and to enjoy His blessings. “The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: ‘Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love...” Jeremiah 31:3 Jesus says, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly (to have life in all its fullness).” John 10:10 However, there is a problem. God has given man freewill to make choices in life; to do what is right, to do good; or to do what is wrong, to do bad. Sadly, we live in a broken-down world with sin and sickness. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 “If we say that we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and refusing to accept the truth.” 1 John 1:8 (TLB) All of us have sinned against God and this sin has broken our relationship with Him. As a result, sin causes us to be separated from our God who loves us. Worst of all, sin has an eternal consequence ... “For the wages of sin is death...” Romans 6:23 The eternal consequence of sin an eternity in hell, forever cut off from God and His desire to be with us for eternity.

What is the way out?

Throughout time, man has tried to bridge the gap with God by religion, philosophy and doing good works. But none of these methods can save us or rid us of our sins and reconcile us back to God. The Bible says that there is only one way. “Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6 Two thousand years ago, God emptied Himself of His glory and came in the form of a human being, Jesus Christ. He personally became the Substitute for you and me to take the punishment of sin. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 And the reason God did this was because He loves us and wants us to know Him. “But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 What must I do now to be reconciled back to God? Here’s what you need to do: (A) Admit that you are a sinner and need to turn from your sins (repentance). (B) Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died to pay for your sins and He is alive today. (C) Confess Jesus Christ as Lord (or Master) and invite Him to come into your life.

Up Cl What do you do in the morning?

TV4LIFE’s Sally Anderson-Wai asked television minister Jerry Savelle to tell us about his typical day and some spiritual insights.

The first thing I do in the morning is to create an atmosphere for the Word of God, for the presence of the Holy Spirit by listening to someone preach the Word or someone singing, like Hillsong music. I love to start my day with declaring “This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice. I will be glad and the favour of God goes before me this day.” Then I shave, shower, and get dressed. Next, I look at my calendar, my day time/planner to determine what my day is going to be like and just prepare myself for that schedule. How do you spend the afternoon before ministering in the evening? With the traveling I do all the time, I make it a rule that I am in my hotel room no later than 3 o’clock. I don’t go sightseeing, I don’t go play golf or anything else; from 3 o’clock it’s my preparation time. It includes praying in the spirit, listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit. I am not in the habit of preaching something that I preached in some other city. I endeavour to purposefully listen to what the Holy Spirit wants me to preach to this church, this convention, this conference and usually that requires me to do some research in the Word. I write out my notes and go back over them again and again because I want

this to flow and not seem forced. The last thing I do is pray in the spirit for quite a long time, because the Bible says that when we pray in the spirit we don’t pray in our own understanding, but we are speaking mysteries unto God. I believe that I am literally preaching that sermon in tongues. Then when I am in front of that congregation I am receiving the interpretation of it and I will hear myself say things that I didn’t even know I knew. That’s the result of praying in the spirit. Praying in the spirit also causes me to be more sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit in ministering to the needs of the people. Yes, I have fun doing what I am doing, but this is very serious to me. My number one goal is to meet the needs of the people and I can’t do that if I am running around all day and then just rush into the hotel, change my clothes and then rush over to the meeting. I’ve got to have that preparation time because this is Kingdom business. As a minister, how would you define success and what three character qualities do you need to be successful? To me success is achieving what God told you to do. You also need integrity, commitment and humility. Integrity is something that is lacking in the body of Christ today, more ever before. Thank God I had a man like Kenneth Copeland as my mentor. The thing that he stressed the most was integrity and so that became my number one pursuit. To live a honourable life. Keep your word. Do what you say you are going to do, both to God and to the people that you are ministering to. You can’t accomplish anything if you are

lose and Personal not deeply committed to it because Satan will create so many opportunities for you to give up or make you think, “What’s the use. It’s not working. I don’t see any results”. But to the person who is deeply committed it makes no difference what is happening around them, they will persevere. Finally, humility. I will be the first to say that had it not been for Christ in my life, I would not be where I am today. I keep that in the forefront of my thinking all the time. No matter how blessed I get, no matter how big the ministry may get, without Him I am nothing. Can you describe a time when you were pressured to be discouraged and what you did to not give in to that pressure? Yes, in the early days of our ministry when I had just left brother Copeland’s organization as his associate minister and was launching out into my own ministry. I can remember a time when the financial needs in the ministry were so great and in the natural I didn’t know how we were going to get things paid. I can remember sitting at my desk and Satan saying to me, “You failed in business before you got saved and you are going to fail here.” At the thought of that, I could feel the fear coming on me and trying to overwhelm me. The Bible says “cast down every thought that is not in obedience to the Word of God”, but at that moment, it just seemed so hard to do that, even though I knew that was the only way that I was going to overcome this. I left and I went home. I went in our bedroom and started walking the floor, praying in the spirit. I remembered the

scriptures talking about “I have not given you a spirit of fear” and all the scriptures I could think about where God talked about “fear not”. And then the Lord said, “Son, when the devil talks about your failure, talk about his. He is the greatest failure that ever existed.” He said, “Remember what happened at Calvary. When Jesus cried out, “My God, My God, why has thou forsaken me” and then when he cried out “It is finished,” Satan really thought he’d won. But he fell for God’s plan and three days later Jesus was raised from the dead and defeated Satan in his own domain and took from him all of his power and authority.” He said, “You talk about a failure, he’s a failure. And when he brings up your failures. Bring up his.” And He said: “That’s how you resist him and he will flee. And before you let him go, bring up his future. It’s not too bright either.” I will never forget what he said. So I began to do that. I said “Satan you are the one who started this. Talking about failure. Let’s talk about failure. Let’s talk about yours.” I could almost hear him saying, “I don’t want to talk about it.” I said, “Oh yeh, you brought this up. We’re going to talk about it.” And then I remember saying, “and by the way, before you leave, let’s bring up your future. You’re headed for a lake of fire. I’m headed for heaven. I’m headed for victory.” And all of that fear and feeling overwhelmed left. You know, money just didn’t fall out of heaven then, but the ability to stand until the finances came was there. I learned that you can resist the devil no matter how overwhelmed you might feel. And he’s got to flee. tv4life.com

What are your favourite things to do? I’m a motorcycle and classic car enthusiast. When I have time off, I like motorcycle riding and working on my classic cars. If it’s holiday time, then my favourite thing to do is to be with my grandchildren. We usually go to our lake house and have ping-pong and pool tournaments. If the weather is nice we water-ski, jet ski and we dive into the water and play. These are the things I enjoy doing the most. Being a grandpa is one of the greatest things that has ever happened in my life outside of being born-again and serving the Lord and having a wonderful wife for 45 years. I like being a grandfather. Is there anything personally that you would still like to accomplish that’s a dream of yours? I’d love to fly in a phantom jet off an aircraft carrier. Someone is working on that right now even as I speak! What advice would you give to a new believer? Get in the Word as quickly as you possibly can. Don’t waste another moment. There are so many versions out there in modern day English that will help you understand. Get in a good faith church; a church that teaches how to live by faith and live in victory. And make sure you surround yourself with people that have similar precious faith. Make a deep committment that you are going to serve the Lord all the days of your life. may/jun 43

“To Save A Life” was one of the most genuine and heart-warming films I’ve seen in a long time. Teens go through hard times everyday and people don’t seem to acknowledge that fact. This film puts all the problems and controversial statements about us into proportion. After a childhood friend’s death, Jake Taylor, an all-star athlete must change his life and sacrifice his dreams to save the lives of others. Seeing such sensitive topics like teen pregnancy or self-harming would normally make someone feel uncomfortable, but it just goes to show what God has the ability to do. Changing peoples’ lives in the slightest way like saying “Hi” or even a smile could impact someone unimaginably. Just watching this film really made me think about life and its value. What would happen if God wasn’t there for us in that time of need? Simply, in a nutshell, this is one of the best movies I’ve seen in ages. Agnus Dei Stuart Pendred “The Bill” and “London’s Burning” star Stuart Pendred has written a trully devotional album with his new CD Agnus Dei (which means Lamb of God). Light Shines Through Worship leader Tim Hughes has a lot to sing about. He took time out from promoting his new CD to speak to TV4LIFE’s Sally Anderson-Wai.

The leader of worship at Holy Trinity Church Brompton said if we are led by the Holy Spirit then we can expect to see the Holy Spirit working. “It should be common in our churches to see people weeping in worship, overwhelmed at the sheer mercy of God. It should be common to hear people singing at the tops of their voices, passionately expressing the love that God has lavished upon us. It should be common to see people dancing like lunatics, freely and with abandon, responding to God’s salvation. It should be common to see people rapt in silence, lost in wonder, completely transﬁxed at the transcendence of our God. We have an amazing God, and our worship should be real, honest, authentic, engaged, expressive, and wholehearted; we should be holding nothing back.” During a Worship Central Tour in Southampton recently a young man called Scott, whose back had been severely damaged in a trampoline accident four years ago, went forward. He had been in constant pain with 14 trapped nerves since a nasty accident. “Scott was prayed for and the pain instantly left - the ﬁrst time in four years,” said Tim. “He was clearly overwhelmed by what God had just done in his life.” Scott had been due to undergo surgery for his injury but a new X-ray showed his shoulder blades were perfectly in line and there was no longer anything wrong with the muscles in his spine. “The doctor was speechless and he said that there is no way that that could be physically possible without surgery, so praise the Lord, for He is beyond our wildest dreams," said Scott. Tim said: “I also recently had an email from a mother who had been suffering from tv4life.com

When she did her whole world seemed brighter.” When the woman went to see her doctor he gradually reduced her antidepressants and she is now fully healed. “The Holy Spirit gives life. He is someone who leads us. We have to learn to be led by the Holy Spirit. We have to ask to be filled with the Spirit. It’s not just a one time thing; we have to be continually filled and overflowing. God calls us to the kind of life mentioned in Micah 6:8. To act justly, love mercy and walk humbly. He might lead you to call someone, to give to an organization, to pray for someone or to speak to someone you see on a bus. The important thing is that we need to learn to follow God.”

Church leaders from all denominations, nationalities, creeds and races will be coming together to pray for the United Kingdom at Wembley stadium The Global Day of Prayer London (GDOP) can confirm Saturday September 17, 2011, as Wembley Day, when 1,000 leaders from across the British Isles are expected to gather at the stadium for a Strategic Prayer Summit. “I Was Raised From The Dead!” Sabine Bennett was a teenager in West Africa when she died and went to heaven. She has told her incredible testimony for the first time to TV4LIFE’s Sally Anderson-Wai. “All I could see were people standing up worshipping God and they were all in a line wearing pure white. That is the image that stuck with me when I died and came back to life,” said Sabine Bennett. who is now a happily married mother living in Suffolk. Sabine was a 14-year-old girl in Mbalmayo, Cameroon when she suffered a severe bout of malaria. When she told her Dad he brushed her aside so she went without treatment. Though weak, she had dragged herself the five miles to school and back, but felt so ill and very hot when she arrived home that she went to lie down on her bed. “My Mam was having a meeting with some ladies. They were doing finances so my Mam and this other lady came into my room. This lady was funny and winked at me to make me laugh but when I didn’t respond she asked my mother if I was OK. My body was cold. She tried to shake me and said “Sabine, Sabine. Wake up!” Sabine failed to respond when they tried to revive her with cold water. Her mother’s friend drove her to the Chinese Hospital.

“They pronounced me dead,” said the 34-year-old personal trainer. “They tried to revive me but nothing was happening, so they put me in the mortuary.” Sabine is very kind-hearted and had shared her food with other children in her neighbourhood. She has tried to stay close to the Lord since she was a young child. When her community heard that she was dead, everyone came out to the hospital to pray for her.

Suddenly, Sabine started to show signs of life and a doctor gave her an injection to combat the Malaria. “The first thing I remember when I came back to life was seeing my Uncle and my Mam standing over me. My Mam told me “You were dead and came back to life”.” When she was older, Sabine went to study in Italy and then Germany, where she met her husband, Steve. Together they have a six-year-old daughter, Misha.

“They were crying and praying and asking God to bring me back to life. There was lots of drama. People were throwing themselves on the ground. No cars could pass because there were so many people,” said Sabine.

Sabine has never forgotten what happened to her and spends a lot of time raising money for orphans and people in need. “God is good. For me, He has been very good. He gave me another chance to live. Misha wouldn’t be here now, but for His grace.

“I didn’t know I was dead. My body wasn’t responding. I had no power to communicate. I could hear the crying and everything, but when I saw the worshippers all dressed in white I didn’t want to go back.

“I believe I am living for a purpose. I am His instrument and God is using me to help others.

“I felt in the presence of God. I have never felt a peace like that before nor since. It was a good place to be. It was perfect. The feeling was indescribable.”

Nothing that God ever tells you to do makes sense in the natural. It did not make sense to King Saul when a young lad like David told him he could face and defeat Goliath, a seasoned and experienced soldier. Zechariah 4:6 says,“...not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts” and in Isaiah 42:8 He says “My glory I will not give to another.” He leaves you in no doubt that the miracle was not wrought by you but by the hand of God. He does it to confound men and to solidify our faith, confidence level and trust in Him. Now, a few years on, people are still ﬂocking the Ffald-y-Brenin and the miracles are becoming regular occurrences. Roy said recently a big man who was in constant pain after severely injuring his shoulder and muscles during a fall down some stairs was healed. “He was standing close to a lady who was being blessed,” said Roy. “She was a little slow in responding but the man fell on his knees and cried “What are you doing, the pain is too much.” Suddenly he grinned and was saying “I don’t believe it” and had been totally healed.” Roy is now touring British cities with a day conference called “A Grace Outpouring.” On May 21st he and his team will be at Hope City Church, Shefﬁeld and Westminster Chapel, London, on July 9th. Are You Going To Heaven? "Not By Might, “...That you may know that you have eternal life...” 1 John 5:13

When ten-year-old Mary's mother died, she became “mother of the house”, caring for her father who worked the night shift at a local mine. One evening as she was packing his lunch she slipped a Gospel booklet inside, hoping he'd find comfort after the loss of his wife. Suddenly at 1am an emergency whistle sounded, telling the town's people that miners had been caught in a collapsed mine. Emergency workers worked through the night and finally broke through to a small cavern where they found the miners. Sadly, it was too late. All eight men had suffocated, including Mary's father. The rescuers were devastated. As they surveyed the scene they noticed that the men had died seated in a circle. Looking closer, they discovered that Mary's father was sitting with a small booklet in his lap, open to the last page where the plan of salvation was explained. On that page he had written a special message to her: “My dear Mary, by the time you find this I'll be with your mother. I read your little book several times to the others while we waited to be rescued. Our hope is fading for this life - but not for the next. We did as the book told us and prayed. I love you, and one day we'll all be together in heaven.” Are you going to heaven? Do you know for sure? Nor By Power" by Terry Quinn As I meditate on the world's problems, the wars, the earthquakes, the fear, the corruption, the breakdown of family values and the economic recession I cannot but turn to God for answers . Politicians, world leaders, financial analysts and scientists are all providing their detailed analysis of how the problems of society can be resolved. God's answer to all of these questions is the Church of Jesus Christ bringing wisdom from the Word of God and prophetic insight. However, as I observe the current state of the Church at large, I am deeply saddened by the lack of true Apostolic guidance available. I listen to Church leaders sounding just like their local MPs. I believe God is sounding an alarm to His people to "Wake up" and "shake off" the worldly wisdom that has infiltrated the Body of Christ. The scripture tells us "It's not by might, nor by power but by my Spirit says the Lord"( Zech 4:6). When Christ walked on earth the same political and religious troubles were all over the regions He ministered to. He was being challenged more by the thoughts and opinions of His own people than by the Romans who occupied that territory. They were blinded by His radical teaching and totally misunderstood His mission for their own political and religious understanding and agendas. Even among His own disciples they were competing with one another and eventually abandoned Him. All the teaching He gave them, His wisdom, His parables and even His sacrificial death and resurrection was not fully understood until Pentecost with the infilling and Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Jesus knew this and told them before He ascended into heaven: "Go into the city of Jerusalem and wait till you receive power from on high and then you will be my witnesses" (Acts 1:8). If Jesus gave such importance and emphasis on the power of the Holy Spirit and the gifts to His disciples then we must do the same. The Holy Spirit is our guide and counsellor. I pray that the Church will rise up with the power given to her to bring hope to a lost and dying world. We are tossed between family, work and our ministry (God-given assignments towards others). It will definitely take a “Total Woman,” a woman tapping into her Godgiven wisdom and ability, to be able to balance all these roles. In these end times, God is using women more than ever though we are supposed to be the “weaker vessels”. God is determined to use the weak things of the world to confound the strong. It is God’s desire to build up women of spiritual fervency, women of substance, sound mind and physical wholeness despite the devil’s attacks. God needs women that have a positive influence on everyone they come across and would be a blessing to any church, family or community they find themselves in.
