2014 Tidewater Officers! The results are in and the Tidewater District has the following officers for the new year starting in Nov 2013. They are: Governor: Richard E. St.Peter, FP Lt Governor: Erin Clark, CPP Treasure: Tracy McGee, CPP Secretary: Bob Harper, Jr Speaking for myself and I am sure the other members of the slate of officers, we will work hard to build on the district past and make an effort to ensure the District has a good year. As you often hear me say, I urge the members, both new and older, to mark the 3rd Monday of each month on the calendar and make an effort to attend the district meetings. Also remember the summer social, the fall seminar and the Holiday Party are events that are put on for the membership to enjoy the camaraderie, information passed along and learning experience as part of your VPPA membership reward. I look forward to leading the district, being the face of the district and representing all the members in a manner that will make you proud of me and happy that you have elected me. See you at future events and remember-mark your calendar and attend your District and VPPA seminars and events.

From the Desk of Lt Governor Richard E. St.Peter

Tracy is a Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) and she has a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Information Technolog y Management. In addition to being an active full time professional photographer, she also serves on both the Tidewater District and VA State Board of D i r e c t o r s f o r t h e Vi r g i n i a Professional Photog raphers Association, and volunteers for various other organizations. Ever since she was a small child, Tracy has been active and involved “Amelia” -Tracy McGee in one art form or another. Shortly General Collection -IPC 2013 out of high school Tracy went into banking, while continuing to practice and learn photography on the side. She was a bank manager by the time she was 23 and loved her 8 year career in banking. After the birth of her first child in 2003 she left banking and used the additional knowledge that she had attained over the years to start her photography business. Tracy and her husband, David, have two children, a 9 year old son and a 6 year old daughter. When asked about her thoughts on competing, Tracy said:

I've always felt that IPC was an excellent tool for learning and improving the skills of any photographer at any level in their career. It forces you to really take a good look at the work that you're doing and see where you have room for improvement. Receiving and listening to all of the critiques at print judging are one of the best tools available to photographers. When I put my images together for IPC this year, I remembered and applied all of the things that I've heard judges say to other photographers about their images over the years. This was my second year entering print competition, so I was pretty ‘over the moon’ about having 4 out of 4 of my images merit at IPC. I realize that print competition in general can sometimes be a roll of dice and there is always a certain degree of luck involved, so I'm not sure that I'll ever pull 4 out of 4 off again, but it sure felt great this time around!
