housing. This battery also has a visible charging status indicator located on the positive terminal – red means charging and green indicates fully charged. A great concept as in circa 2018 everything has at least one USB charging port. So, you’re never without a power source for your light.
This is a dual fuel light powered by a rechargeable 18650 lithium battery or (2) CR123A batteries.
Battery technology has come a long way and if you want to extract the highest level of performance from the PROTAC 2L-X you’ll want to take the 18650 route. It’s not just a marginal increase, it’s substantial. For example, on high (500 lumens), (2) CR123A batteries deliver a run-time of 2.75 hours; using the 18650 rechargeable lithium power source, run-time increases to 3.25 hours of continuous use. That’s impressive for an EDC light!
The Streamlight 18650 lithium battery is a unique USB rechargeable power source, but it doesn’t require a charging station, the micro USB port is built directly into the battery’s
Making this 2L-X even more interesting is the availability of three modes of operation: high/strobe/low, high only or low/high. Any of the three modes is accessible via Streamlight’s TEN-TAP® programming. Ten taps in rapid succession, holding on the tenth tap, will select the next mode and turns the light off. You’re now in the selected mode of operation when you turn the light on.
Need a great handheld flashlight? If you answered yes, I’ve got one for you. Streamlight’s PROTAC® 2L-X is a compact tactical EDC light that delivers 500 lumens of illumination and three modes of operation.

STREAMLIGHT’S PROTAC® 2L-X
The PROTAC 2L-X is not a fragile light, the housing is constructed of anodized aluminum and O-ring sealed to IPX7 standards. The 2L-X is waterproof with full immersion at one meter for 30 minutes. The flashlight is configured with a robust removable steel clip, and if you want to look like a 1951 Buick1LeSabre concept car, you can wear the 2L-X on your ball cap. You can also attach it to your favorite load bearing vest, and if that’s not enough, you can wear it on your belt with the included nylon holster.
You won’t find a better EDC tactical light at a street price under $53, for the rechargeable USB model; a value that should come as no surprise from a company that has set the industry standard for quality, durability and exceptional value across its entire tactical line of lighting tools. -SP Manufacturer Specifications
