GOODWOOD: DISAPPOINTING RESPONSE TO CALL FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF CID

f you want to see positive change in your community, consider getting involved with forums such as the community policing forum, the local neighbourhood watch or the residents’ or ratepayers’ association. In April last year TygerBurger wrote about the possibility of establishing a Community Improvement District in Goodwood (“Goodwood to get own CID,” 12/04). The

driving force behind the idea, Faizel Petersen, a local resident and owner of a production company, says that sadly only five people responded to the article and when a meeting was called only three people attended. opment. “The City does not always manage to deal with all these aspects due to budgetary constraints, or these functions are lying with national or provincial government. We as a community should therefore be part of structures like community policing forums, neighbourhood watches and ratepayers’ associations where we can influence change and keep government accountable for service delivery,” he says.
