BODY FOUND IN FIELD: MILNERTON POLICE INVESTIGATING DEATH OF POSSIBLE VAGRANT

Milnerton police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found lying in an open field recently.

The body was allegedly found by a passerby in a field off Bosmansdam Road, Milnerton.

Captain Adriana Chandler, police spokesperson, says the man was identified by a family member on the scene.

“The cause of death is unknown at this stage,” she says.

The body was found on Thursday last week.

One Milnerton resident mentioned on the community Facebook page that the body was found slumped over a trolley with a pair of crutches at his side.

It is alleged that the deceased was a known beggar in the area.

Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER24 emergency services, says the man is believed to have been in his 50s.

He says paramedics were responding to another emergency call when they were flagged down by members of the community.

“Once on scene, paramedics found the body of a man lying some distance into the field against a wall.

“It was evident to paramedics that the man had been dead for some time.

“Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead on the scene,” Meiring says.

He says the details surrounding the incident are unclear.

TygerBurger approached the Milnerton Community Policing Forum (CPF) chairperson, Lianne Lippert, for more details.

Lippert was, however, unable to shed any more light on the matter.

As stated by the CPF at a recent community meeting, vagrancy is a major problem in the area around Bosmansdam and Koeberg roads.

Calls have been made to all relevant role players in the Milnerton area, including the police, to assist in solving this ongoing problem.

According to police, an inquest docket has been opened and more information will be available once a postmortem has been conducted.

Toys and stationary donated to special needs school C

hristmas came early this year for a group of learners at a special needs school in Table View, thanks to the generosity of the public.

The institution, the Learning Vine Tutor Centre, according to principal Cindy van den Heuvel struggles to keep its head above water and therefore welcomed the donation of educational toys and stationary worth R10 000. She thanked the public for their help.

According to the principal the learning centre for learners from Grade R to 12 with learning, behavioural and other social issues, have been struggling with funding and is actualy facing the possibility of closing it’s doors.

“This school is not only for children with special needs, but also for those who come from abusive environments, or whose parents cannot afford school fees. Many of the students come from as far as Gugulethu daily,” Van den Heuvel says.

Often the school struggles to pay the R50 000 rent, she adds. “At the moment, there are children having to work in the dark, because the electricity has been switched off due to non-payment.”

It is for this reason that the recent donation was received with open arms.

T

he issue regarding the police station in Parklands was again one of the topics of discussion at a community meeting held here recently.

Residents wanted to know why the community service centre at the police station located on Parklands Main Road is often closed to the public.

They also wanted to know what can and will be done to resolve the matter.

In an attempt to put matters into perspective, Table View Police Station commander, Colonel Dirk Vosloo, said like any other organisation, the police have a staff compliment with which they have to work. A shortage can be problematic.

“If there are not enough people on duty, the easiest thing to do is to close it; rather use that one person in a patrol van than have him or her just sitting behind a coun-

ter,” he said.

He said as management, they do not allow more than two people on leave at one time, but often people take sick leave. “It is not a question of wanting to close it, but it’s more a case of having to work with what we have got.”

One resident wanted to know when the police will ever have enough resources.

“Never. I am being asked this question regularly.

“If you look at the province there are quite a few posts available, but they won’t fill them.”

He explained that police officers are normally deployed to stations where serious crime levels are high.

Vosloo said 20 of his own staff members have been redeployed, “therefore I cannot step up my visibility.”

The current shortage is being addressed, however.

Vosloo explained that there is already a

process underway to have more reservists employed.

However, he said this process is being delayed by management at national level.

“This is a bit of a frustration.”

Vosloo said the police called on people to apply, and that they did so in numbers.

“But our organisation is just very slow in the process of taking them in.”

He said they already have people who have gone through the application process.

“We are really looking forward to having them, even if just eight; we would love more than 80 though,” he said jokingly.

He added: “This is really frustrating, because a lot of people with whom we normally work have signed up and have gone through the training.”

Making a noise against crime Young people on the West Coast were entertained with dragon shows, music and other fun activities recently in Atlantis as part of Youth Month celebrations.

The celebrations, which took place on Saturday 24 June at the Atlantis Multi-purpose Sports Field, were organised by the Milnerton police cluster, which includes the Milnerton, Malmesbury, Atlantis, Melkbosstrand and Table View police stations.

Captain Adriana Chandler, police spokesperson, says about 600 children between the ages of 10 and 16 years attended the event.

The Youth Day project themed “Noise Against Crime” was a partnership between the police and the various community policing forums (CPFs) in the cluster, Chandler says.

“The project was a great success, which was measured by feedback received from dignitaries and the youth who attended.

“It was managed by the Malmesbury Police Station commander, Colonel Niels Nilsson, who was assisted by the cluster CPF chairperson, Abdul Ganie Tajoodien, affectionately known as Oom T,” Chandler says.

The Chinese consular general, Kang Yong, also addressed the youth. Yong told the children that they should be proud of their achievements and stay away from bad elements they may encounter during their teenage years.

Music was provided by the South African police’s provincial band, while Chinese dragon dancers and other local talents kept the children entertained.

“The children started the day by painting their own banners with a slogan against crime after being divided into groups. Their faces were painted and each child had to make a noise instrument from recycled material. These were used at the end of the programme, which concluded with a march against crime through the streets of Atlantis,” Chandler says.

Hip­hop dancers battle it out to be the best Hip­hop dancers from across the country battled it out this past weekend at the 2017 South African National Fitness and Hip­Hop Championships held at the Bellville Velodrome.

The event started on Friday, with the finals being held on Sunday.

Richard Roberts attended the event and captured some of the highlights.

Dancing sisters Wesaal and Aliyah Roberts wowed the crowd with their performance.

Ruby Burger and teammate Zoe Stroebel were on point with their sequence.

Hip­hop dance group, Funky Culture, ending off their display with fists in the air. The group consists of Megan Moolman, Helga Martin, Desiree Keersemaker, Levona Johnson, Marlene Cupido and Samantha Goss.

Tara Foo Kwue and Megan Santon were also on the list of dancers in the category Duo’s Cadet for dancers between the ages of seven and 13 years.

City service delivery expo in S’Greens R

esidents of Summer Greens recently had the oppotunity to interact one-on-one with officials from the City of Cape Town, thanks to a service delivery expo held here.

The expo was held two weeks ago at the community hall with mayco member for area north, Suzette Little, in attendance.

The expo was part of an Organisational Development and Transformation Plan (ODTP) roadshow for area north.

The City says one of the priorities of this plan is to transform the lives of residents by engaging consistently and effectively with communities at these expos.

Residents used the opportunity to actively engage with officials about indigent grants, traffic-related issues, and servi-

ces offered by the department of social development.

Representatives from a number of the City’s line departments was in attendance including water and sanitation, solid waste management and health.

“We are on point with the ODTP in terms of making services and the office of the mayor available at a grassroots level.

This is in line with one of our commitment to place our residents first. We still have a lot of work to do to redress the imbalances of the past, but these roadshows are a significant step in that regard,” Little says.

able View police says an increase in serious crime over the first few months of their new financial year, is concerning.

The financial year runs from April 2017 to March 2018. At a community meeting held last week at the CBC St. Johns in Parklands, Table View Police Station commander, Colonel Dirk Vosloo, told those in attendance that incidents of murder, attempted murder, assault, sexual offences and all robberies have shown a decrease if compared with April and May, but that this however is not the case for June. “There has been a slight increase,” he said.

Vosloo said robbery, especially, is of a con-

cern. “In terms of robberies this month, we experienced a problem month.”

Incidents such as car hijackings, house robberies and business robberies – also termed trio crime – has become a general problem, he said.

“We will have to do something about it,” he assured residents. Vosloo said a meeting is also scheduled to take place later this month with business owners of restaurants following the robbery and shoot-out at two different 24-hour take-away establishments on Sandown Road early last month.

“We will meet with them to hear what resources they have available to secure their businesses, because it is vulnerable.”

They are aiming to identify the groups responsible for the robberies, make arrests, establish an informer network and encourage

the business owners to utilize the resources at their disposal. According to Vosloo, suspects involved in robbery cases in the past, come from elsewhere and not necessarily the West Coast. “People come from as far as Steenberg, Gugulethu, Lwandle and Khayelitsha to rob. They seem to think that wealthy people stay here,” he said. Vosloo said one way of tackling crime in the area is to build partnerships with the business sector, but to also build on the existing partnership between the police and community organisations such as street committees and neighbourhood watches. The community meeting was held on Thursday 29 June. It was attended by members of the local neighbourhood watches, street committees, ward councillors, armed response companies, the Table View Ratepayers Association and CPF.

A bowl of soup to warm the hearts of kids The Milnerton branch of Hirsch’s visited Marconi Beam Primary School recently to donate hearty lamb soup ingredients and bread to the Grade 1 children.

The 100 learners enjoyed bread and soup prepared by their school chefs, says Vuyo Pohlwana, Hirsch’s spokesperson.

Elizabeth Plaatjie, school principal, thanked the appliance store giant for the gen-

Hirsch’s will be visiting the school fortnightly for the next six months to drop off groceries.

This was said by Ian Neilson, executive deputy mayor, at the opening of the Pampoenkraal Heritage Square in Durbanville and the celebration of the Durbanville En Route Festival last Friday evening in the town hall.

James Vos, member of Parliament and Western Cape shadow minister of tourism, also announced projects that will enhance tourism in Cape Town, including the upgrading of the Cape Town International Airport and the R832 million extension of the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

“Durbanville combines its rich heritage with a modern, vibrant character that offers something for everyone,” Neilson said.

“It also gives me great pleasure to see the progress made with the Pampoenkraal Heritage Square project. This initiative forms part of the City’s Quality Public Spaces programme, which aims to deliver high-quality public space within community facility clusters and economic nodes,” he said.

“This R10 million project will create a quality civic and recreational precinct within the Durbanville central business district (CBD) to promote business and to encourage community activities within this heritagerich area.

“It will also amplify local tourism. Any investment that boosts the local tourism sector in and around Cape Town, and which will encourage tourists to spend more time and money here, is worth every cent,” he said.

“I want to encourage Durbanville to build on this great foundation – wine routes, a local festival, a newly redeveloped heritage square, and other public and private spaces – to find further events and tourism products that can build Durbanville as one of Cape Town’s great event locations,” he continued.

nomic situation – and subsequent credit rating downgrade – is not expected to have a significant impact on Western Cape tourism numbers; however our officials are mitigating any possible effects and risks,” he said.

“The Western Cape government will invest in new tourism attractions and address congestion at existing popular attractions in the coming months to attract more visitors.

“The provincial government is also building new attractions in the next financial year, including a Cape Cycle Network, the Madiba Legacy Route and a repackaged food and wine offering across the province,” he said.

“Food and wine play a significant role in the Western Cape tourism package, and making this sector a R25 billion industry in the next eight years is a key target.

“The third investment would be developing cycle tourism – a market that is growing internationally. We’ve already seen some exciting progress in this regard and there are some additional routes we are planning,’’ he said.

The upgrading of the Cape Town Interna-

tional Airport will facilitate unrestricted air access into the region and enable growth in air traffic, stimulating tourism and economic activity.

Environmental authorisation has been granted for this project and, if all approvals are received, construction is estimated to begin mid-2018, Vos said.

The most noticeable upgrade will be a new and realigned runway amounting to R3.18 billion. New terminal buildings, boarding gates, aircraft parking stands, taxiways and service roads will also be built, Vos said.

The realigned primary runway will be 3500m in length and will be built to international specifications, allowing larger aircraft to land at the airport.

The R832 million extension of the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) is on track, with the first event set to take place in September.

The expansion will provide an additional 31 148m² of space to the existing CTICC, allowing for much larger events to be hosted concurrently.

alm has been restored to Joe Slovo Park, Milnerton following two days of unrest.

Several acts of vandalism had been reported over the 48 hour period, including a MyCiTi being torched, a community hall as well as local clinic and school principal’s office being set alight.

The City of Cape Town condemned the action by the group protesters.

In a statement issued on Tuesday 27 June the municipality’s JP Smith, mayco member for safety and security and social services, said that the community hall had been severely damaged and that it will remain close until further notice.

Smith said no room within the facility was spared in this act of violence.

“Just last week this hall was humming with children at a series of Youth Day programmes and we had weeks of holiday programmes planned for winter.

Now we have had to remove staff from the facility.

“This is extremely discouraging for our recreation staff. The City has spent years transforming this hall into one that the community can be proud of, where in any given week nearly 2 500 children and youth visit the centre for recreation programmes,” Smith said.

Regular programmes at the facility include aerobics, basketball, drama and crèche programmes.

The centre also had a very popular gym.

Two drug dealers arrested The provincial police say two men have been arrested on the West Coast early this week for dealing in drugs worth R150 000.

Constable Carol Strauss, police spokesperson, say the two was apprehended in the early hours of Monday 3 July.

The arrests are as a result of swift response by members from the Milnerton Operation Combat who acted on information they received, the police say.

The arrests were performed shortly after 02:00.

“The information indicated that drugs are being sold in a house in Libra Road in Milnerton.

Police stopped at the house when they noticed a vehicle leaving the house with two

occupants inside it.

“A high speed chase ensued and police stopped the vehicle on the N7 highway.

Upon searching the vehicle various drugs such as ephedrine, tik, ecstasy tables, cocaine and heroin with an estimated street value of R150 000 was found,” Strauss says.

The drugs were confiscated.

Strauss says the two perpetrators, aged 24 and 30 years, will be appearing in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court once charged for dealing in drugs.

“Substance abuse is associated with violent crime and the police aspire to provide effective, efficient and responsive policing to our communities by taking drugs off our streets,” Strauss says.

Beware of crying ‘criminal’ with pics DESIRÉE RORKE @dezzierorke

hefty fine, 12 months’ imprisonment or a massive civil suit could await you, should you post a picture of any perceived “criminal” on a social media platform.

Legal specialist in all police matters, Advocate Melville Cloete from the provincial police, recently spoke about the legislation surrounding this topic at a talk at Gene Louw Traffic College in Brackenfell.

He addressed members of local neighbourhood watches, warning them of the dangers linked to posting such photos on social media. “You are not allowed to publish a picture identifying an alleged suspect in a crime on WhatsApp or on Facebook before this person had appeared before a court of law,” he stressed.

The South African Police Service Act strictly forbids this.

The same applies to pictures of anybody who might be a witness in a criminal case.

“Members of neighbourhood watches often take pictures of suspects at crime scenes, which you can do, but the moment you send the picture to someone else or post it to a social media platform, it is considered published,” he said.

Posting photos could lead to vigilantism According to Cloete, the only exception applies when the investigating officer on the scene gives his permission for the picture to be published. In addition to the Police Act, section 35 of the Constitution affords every citizen the right to a fair trial.

“The publication of a photo identifying the alleged perpetrator could thus render the trial unfair and it might result in the suspect being acquitted. The same applies if the perpetrator is identified in public before an ID parade has taken place,” said Cloete The publication of such a photo could furthermore defeat the ends of justice, by hampering a pending investigation.

“It can also lead to vigilante action in cases where the person arrested is innocent, but as a result of the published photo, which depicts him as a criminal, the community takes the law into its own hands.”

Cloete says vigilante action is rife in many areas of Cape Town.

When publishing such a photo a person could also land him or herself on the receiving end of a defamation lawsuit.

“Everyone has the right to a good name and reputation and the person who taints this with defamatory statements, by posting such a photo, can be held liable for damages in civil court,” said Cloete, adding that numerous complainants have won such cases in recent years.

Danger of unlawful arrest, detention Lastly the publication of such a photo could result in unlawful arrest and detention. In the case between Mkwanazi and three others, the Minister of Police was successfully sued for an unlawful arrest when the aforesaid men were unlawfully arrested following a WhatsApp post that was picked up by police.

“In the post the men were identified as perpetrators, which prompted police to arrest and detain them only to find out two days later that these were the wrong men,” said Cloete In this case the policemen involved did not investigate or analyse the information received from the members of the community. “It can happen so easily. We have to be very careful what we publish on social media platforms such as WhatsApp. If you see a person in your neighbourhood and you have grounds to believe him to be a criminal, don’t just take a photo, naming him a suspect, and post it. Rather state the facts around the circumstances and post that,” Cloete advised the audience.

Key changes to water and other tariffs Following the approval of the City of Cape Town’s budget for the 2017/18 financial year, key tariff changes have been implemented as from 1 July 2017.

Due to the pressure on the water and sanitation tariffs, as well as affordability aspects, the 2017/18 financial year sees the end of free basic water and sanitation services to all customers.

This will now only apply to indigent customers.

The non-indigent category will be subject to the phased introduction of payments for the first 6 kl for water and 4.2 kl for sanitation during the 2017/18 and 2018/19 financial years. The additional impact for the 2017/18 financial year on non-indigent customers will be approximately R27.36 (incl.

VAT) per month for water and R18.43 (incl. VAT) per month for sanitation. This charge per kilolitre at the Step 1 tariff is far below the actual cost of delivering water and sanitation.

As for electricity, after considering public input, the City decided to delay the implementation of the home-user tariff, which was proposed in the draft budget.

Consumers in properties above the value of R1 million will remain on the Domestic Tariff. Current Lifeline Tariff customers with municipal property valuations in excess of R400 000 will be migrated to the Domestic Tariff.

Consumers with property values of less than R400 000 who purchase less than 450 kWh per month on average will continue to be supplied at the Lifeline Tariff.

We have also increased the value of property from R400

000 to R500 000 for households that qualify for a 25% reduction in refuse removal charges.

Rates will increase by an average of 5%, which is down from the 6% of last year.

Apart from our existing relief to indigent residents, we have introduced a new rates rebate of R50 per month for households with properties valued at between R400 000 and R750 000.

Residents being milked for money The City of Cape Town and Johannesburg Municipality are now taking away the privilege of the first 6kl of water for free, but only for certain income brackets. In Cape Town this is coupled to the property evaluation.

I live alone and have been using on average 5kl of water per month since occupying my home.

I achieve this by having sunk a well point when my property was built and having purchased rain water tanks, and I also reuse grey water.

This system was a costly exercise, and is still to be expanded even further.

Now I have to pay for the 5kl of water! This water will still come from the dams and will still be the same burden on the water supply; the only thing that changes is that the Municipality is now getting paid for it and for the sewage for which I will also have to pay. Lower income groups such as informal settlements do not have the luxury of water in their homes as I do but do not pay for water, but

ironically will still “receive the first 6kl for free”. The water situation will not change, yet the Municipality will be generating more revenue, and people who have gone to great expense to conserve water will now just have to fork out more money.

Municipal buildings that are being renovated/rebuilt have no water tanks or any saving designed into the buildings, with exception of a single building in Bellville.

This decision is one sided with money in mind and not the water shortage. This decision also serves no purpose in creating equality for all in the Rainbow Nation.

Enough water in cistern to flush?

Be aware that reducing the amount of water in a toilet cistern could cause a blocked sewer and cost you the charges of a plumber to unblock the drain. This happened to my wife and I when, unknown to us, the minimal amount of water we were using to flush the toilet was not sufficient to move toilet paper all the way along the sewerage pipes on our property to the municipal sewer connection resulting in a build up of toilet paper and a blocked drain.

It is important therefore to make sure that you have sufficient water in your toilet cistern to do a proper job of flushing.

out to the family and friends of City of Cape Town councillor, Xolile Gwangxu, who was shot and killed [on 21 June] in front of his office.

Fight that traffic fine, PR Matthews In response to PR Matthews’ letter in TygerBurger of 7 June regarding the traffic fine on the M5.

Some while back there was a similar fine that was contested in court and reversed by the magistrate/ judge.

It appears that distance/ speed is legally allowed when one has to reduce speed from, as an example, 80 down to 60 km/h, as long as the correct speed is reached by the new limit sign.

The judge ruled that the same should apply when speed allowances increase. In other words, the driver is allowed to accelerate from the lower limit to the new required speed to reach the new speed at the sign.

In light of this, PR Matthews might wish to contest the fine.

I am not a legal expert, but I do remember the earlier incident.

SKOLERUGBY: TALLE VAN NOORDELIKE VOORSTEDE HAAL WP SE TOPSPANNE

ie eerste keer in die geskiedenis van die Hoërskool Stellenberg is nege rugbyspelers opgeneem in die onderskeie WP-Cravenweekspanne.

Ses van die spelers is deel van die WP se o.18-span en drie is in die o.16-Grant Khomo-span opgeneem.

Die o.18-span speel by St. Stithians in Johannesburg van Maandag 17 Julie tot Sondag 22 Julie, terwyl die o.16-span van Maandag 10 Julie tot Vrydag 14 Julie in aksie sal wees by Grey-kollege in Bloemfontein.

Die drie Cravenweek-spelers is Angelo Davids (vleuel), Josh Muller (haker) en Janko Swanepoel (slot). Dié span word afgerig deur Elmo Wolfaardt en die kaptein is Vusile Dlepu, kaptein en skrumskakel van SACS. Dlepu is een van vier spelers van die seëvierende WP-span van 2016, en die ander drie is Quan Eyman, Muller du Plessis en Tristan Leitch.

Corné van Romburgh (heelagter), Jacques van Biljon (skrumskakel) en Nivan Petersen (losskakel) verteenwoordig vir Stellies in die WP se Akademie-span.

Die span word afgerig deur Clinton

van Rensburg van die Hoër Seunskool Rondebosch. Die kaptein is Herman le Roux van die Landbouskool Boland.

Volgens Pierre du Preez, alombekend as Duppie, hoof van rugby en spanbestuurder van die o.19A-span van die Hoërskool Stellenberg, het die skool net een Springbok opgelewer.

“Carel van der Merwe (stut) het in 2000 vir die Bokke uitgedraf. In 2016 het Tiaan Swanepoel (heelagter), wat in 2014 in matriek was, die WP se o.21-span verteenwoordig. Hy het vanjaar vir die Maties in die Varsitybeker uitgedraf,” het Du Preez gesê.

“In 2008 en 2009 het JC Kritzinger (stut) vir die Stormers gespeel, maar hy moes weens ernstige kniebeserings sy stewels op 25-jarige ouderdom ophang.

“Hy was in 2005 by ons in matriek.

Tans speel Ricardo Duarte, wat laas jaar in matriek was, vir die Goue Leeus se o.19-span.

In 2002 het Stellenberg ook drie Cravenweekspelers opgelewer – Enwill Alexander (vleuel), wat ook vir SA Skole gespeel het, Jaco Laubscher (senter) en Philip van der Merwe (haker), tans onderskeidelik Stellenberg se o.19B-afrigter en o.19A-veldassistent,” het hy gesê.

Die afrigters van die o.19­rugbyspanne van die Hoërskool Stellenberg staan hier by die ses spelers wat vanjaar die WP se o.18 Cravenweekspanne gehaal het. Hier is (van links) Corné Kannemeyer (afrigter), Divan Batt (afrigter), Corne van Romburgh, Janko Swanepoel, Jacques van Biljon en Angelo Davids. Voor is Josh Muller en Nivan Petersen.

Two of Milnerton High School’s u.16 rugby players, Romuald Ntumba and Girshwone Papier (both in grade 10), have been selected for provincial teams. Romuald made the u.16 Grant Khomo team and Girshwone made the u.16 Grant Khomo XV team. Both boys will be competing at the national Grant Khomo u.16 week in Bloem­ fontein during the school holiday. Thandile Hoyi from Tygerberg High School is one of the players in the DHL Western Province u.18 Academy Week team captained by Boland Landbou’s skipper Herman le Roux and coached by Clinton van Rensburg from Ronde­ bosch Boys’ High. The Academy Week will take place at St Stithians in Johannes­ burg from Monday 17 to Saturday 22 July..

Xavier Haupt van die Hoërskool Bellville is ingesluit in die WP se o.18­Akademiespan, wat gedurende die vakansie aan die Akademieweek in Johannesburg gaan deelneem. Hier saam met Xavier staan sy afrigters, Emile van Rensburg (links) en Johan Joubert. Van Rensburg is ook op die WP­skolerugbybestuur en keurder van die WP se o.16­span.

Klubspanne baljaar omtrent in triestige weer SAREL BURGER Sommige spanne in die WP se Superliga-rugbykompetisie het die afgelope naweek se triestige weer geïgnoreer en “krieket” gespeel met hul wegholseges.

Durbanville-Bellville en Kuilsrivier was darem aan die wenkant in wedstryde waarin daar in albei gevalle byna 100 punte aangeteken is. Die Durbies en Brackenfell het be-

hoorlik gebaljaar, met die Durbanvillers uiteindelik met 59-32 aan die wenkant.

Durbell het die Brakke se doellyn agt keer oorgesteek terwyl Brackenfell self vier keer gaan druk het. Kuilsrivier het kleingeld gemaak van Sir Lowrians en het met 98-0 geseëvier. Die Kuile het altesame 15 keer die besoekers se doellyn oorgesteek!

In twee wedstryde in die A-afdeling van die Superliga buite die Tygerbergstreek is

die 100-tal wel oorskry met Hamiltons wat Pniël Villagers met 83-17 verniel het en Valsbaai wat Primrose met 83-24 gekasty het.

Ook in ander wedstryde waarby Tygerbergse spanne betrokke was, is die punte deeglik opgestapel. Kraaifontein was met 4031 die meerdere van Villager, terwyl Bellville met 28-25 te sterk was vir Rangers. Maar Hands & Heart het 17-20 teen Franschhoek vasgeval. Belhar is op verrassende wyse 19-

13 deur Schotsche Kloof/Walmer geklop.

In die C-afdeling van die Superliga het Goodwood se aanspraak op die beker ’n lelike knou gekry toe All Saints die tuisspan met 50-27 getroef het. Scottsdene het Young Stars 23-14 geklop, maar Elsiesrivier is 34-27 deur Hamediehs koudgesit. Die komende naweek is die Tygerbergers se program (tuisspan eerste): Belhar t Durbanville-Bellville, Unie-Milnerton t Primrose (albei in die A-afdeling), Paarl t Kuilsrivier, Kraaifontein t Young Peoples, Helderberg t Hands & Heart, Hamlets t Bellville (afd. B), Young Stars t Goodwood, Scottsdene t Raithby Universals.
