WEEK 6 READING: SURFACES THAT CAN BE BUILT FROM PAPER IN ARCHITECTURAL GEOMETRY Question 1: What are the three elementary types of developable surfaces? Provide a brief description. (Maximum 100 words) The three elementary types of developable surfaces are cones, cylinders and tangent surfaces. Developed surfaces are special ruled surfaces which means for per ruling, it contains one plane tangent to the surface along the whole ruling.
Question 2: Why is the understanding of developable surface critical in the understanding of architectural geometry? Choose one precedent from Research/Precedents tab on LMS as an example for your discussion. (Maximum 100 words) The understanding of developable surface is critical because it provides an easier way for architects to creat a three-dimension subjects so that complex shapes could be built in a short way in real world. The Green House designed by Plasma Studio is a convincing example for this idea.

WEEK 7 READING: DIGITAL FABRICATION Complete your reading before attempting these questions:
Question 1: What is digital fabrication and how does it change the understanding of two dimensional representation? (Maximum 100 words) Digital fabrication is a process which creates projects by using digital design, various types of digital technologies and tools. It has changed the understanding of projects from two-dimensional representation to three-dimensional digital moudling as it could simplify the process.
Question 2: Suggest two reasons why folding is used extensively in the formal expression of building design? (Maximum 100 words) The first reason is folding creates a sence of rigidity and stiffeness for the surfaces which make it could be supported. Moreover, it represents the method which changed two-dimensions into three-dimenensions which offers easier process for buildings and designed structures.
