Planting and harvesting during a shorter growing season can be a challenge in Alaska. Find out how Extension provides helpful information for a successful harvest.
Programs and information on food safety and preservation, nutrition, financial management, healthy homes, family relationships, consumerism and leadership increase knowledge and skills. Master Food Preserver, Family and Community Education and StrongWomen volunteers extend service and learning throughout the Mat-Su area and the Copper River Valley.

4-H Grows:
Community clubs offer a variety of projects as well as opportunities for youth and adults to share what’s being learned and work on community service and other activities that bring together members of all the different projects to work on common goals.
4-H grows confident, capable and caring kids with the life skills to thrive in today’s world and succeed in their boldest dreams for tomorrow.
Project clubs focus on one project at a time, such as gardening, horses, shooting sports and more. The 4-H experience may also be during or after school, at camps, special activities, or state, regional or national events.
4-H grows youth who are ready and willing to serve their communities, influence their peers and nurture their environment, youth who put the needs of their club, their community, their country and their world before their own.
Growing Tomorrow’s Leaders The mission of Alaska 4-H is to empower youth to reach their full potential by working and learning in partnerships with caring adults. We believe every child should have the skills to thrive in life, community and career.
