Master Brewer

Born at the Belle Dalle Manor-Farmhouse, and being a countryman at heart, after 13 years working in the agricultural business for DuPont De Nemours, in 2001, I chose to leave my job to fulfil a dream with my wife, Alexia: create a craft brewery on the “Côte d’Opale” (north of France) and go home to run the family farm. Today, we brew ales within traditional methods and using our own barley production (“maritime barley”), giving our beers a local expression. Last year, we sold 2,250 Hl, mainly direct at the brewery and on the local market. Our enterprise values are: “Quality, independence and commitment”. BRANDS AND VINTAGES

Petit Pois (DE, NJ, NY, PA)

Château des Hospitaliers is a family estate, acquired in 1978 and located in the commune of Saint-Christol, halfway between Montpellier and Nîmes in the Hérault department of the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Due to the nature of the estate’s environment and a deliberate choice of wanting to sustain the natural balance, the vines are cultivated with maximum respect for the soil, flora and fauna. The winery, a stone building self-made facility, was developed following HQE (High Environmental Quality) standards. It was designed to limit the need to handle the wines – always unfavorable for the quality of the wines (movement by gravity preferred) – and to maintain consistent temperatures and hygrometry in a maturing environment characterized by patience and attentiveness. Temperature and hygrometry management is carried out by techniques that use minimal levels of energy, such as geothermal Canadian-style wells. We produce several blends in white, rosé and red.

This successful Provençal winemaking estate dates back to the 16th century, situated on land which the ancient Romans used for wine production. Château Pigoudet is in the north of the Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence wine appellation. It lies 400m above sea level. The grapes are planted on 40 hectares of south-facing slopes. Sustainable viticultural practises are employed whenever possible. Our wines are distinguished by their temperament, freshness, aromas and refinement.

My wine-farm is family-run and located in Mouzillon, 20km to the south of Nantes. Encouraged by my father and grandfather’s craftsmanship, I decided to continue their work with the traditional culture of vines to preserve the genuineness of the soil and conserve the specificity of the muscadet grape. My domain spreads over 34ha, shared between two very different soils: • on its granite and schist hillside, for the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine sur Lie “Domaine du Moulin” (70,000 bottles per year); • on clay for the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine “Les Roches Gaudinières” (8,000 bottles per year).

Dominique Léandre-Chevalier’s ancestors were winegrowers, waggoners and tree nursery owners for generations. His family name Léandre-Chevalier means horse-man. He accompanies nature’s cycles with great respect, operating a long way away from all business trends. Working and living in harmony with his values and using the knowledge passed down through the generations of his family, he is profoundly convinced that this hard work is the only path to reap long-term rewards. His ancestors’ knowledge includes the capital importance of the planting density. The unique results prove that this philosophy is true and it is confirmed over and over with every single vintage.

History reports that the first establishments of vineyards are dated from the 12th century. The Knights Templar brought the first young vines of négrette from Cyprus, after the crusades. In 1970, Jean MOURAT laid the foundation stone of a forward-looking vineyard respectful of the local heritage. His son Jérémie joined him 29 years later to perpetuate the fascinating adventure of “the great vineyard”, as Jean HUGUET, a local historian, liked to call it. The main grape varieties in our rosé and red wines are pinot noir, négrette and cabernet franc; and chenin-chardonnay for the white ones. In the Mareuil vineyard, we can find two main rock types: rhyolites (volcanic dykes) and shale (compact, soft and foliated rock).

Founded in 1921, the Couly-Dutheil family estate is home to prestigious domaine vineyards amongst which the famous Clos de l’Olive & Clos de l’Echo (royal vineyard of the King of France). Today, the property is run by Jacques COULY-DUTHEIL and his son Arnaud, who is recognized as one of the most creative & talented young winemakers. With the domaine’s vineyard rows all grassed through and run according to the rules of “la lutte raisonnée” (organic agriculture methods), the estate has placed an increasing emphasis on high foliage (generally trimming the vines to 1.80m), éclaircissage (to thin out), de-leafing around the bunches to keep the grapes healthy and then picking (mostly by hand) as late as possible to get full phenolic ripeness.

Domaine des Antilles is based in Guadeloupe, a tropical paradise island in the French Caribbean. It is specializes in agro-processing and the creation of innovative products. It is in 2010 that Jacques LEPOIGNEUR, a chemical engineer with more than 30 years of experience, developed a fabulous banana wine, which seduces worldwide. Fruit of three years of research, this alcoholic beverage has had success due to its exotic and original taste. It is obtained by the fermentation of bananas. The banana wine was recognized with the Innovation Award at SIAL Paris 2010. In 2012, it won the RUP logo, European label of origin and quality. In 2013, La Banane started making its foray onto the international market (USA, Brazil, China ...). The packaging was entirely reworked and now highlights the tropical aspects and classiness of the drink.

Domaine Jourdain is a family vineyard of 25ha settled on slopes of the Cher Valley to the south of Loire River. This land has supported the family of Francis JOURDAIN for several centuries. Some of his ancestors cut the stone: famous rifle flints used by Napoleon’s armies; others grew grapes and made wine. Today, we naturally look after this terroir. Harmony and balance are our key words for vine growing and winemaking. Thus, we use traditional know-how and modern techniques that makes possible a monitoring of the wines from the lees to the bottling.

The Dulon family has been making wine from father to son for more than 250 years, although there was one generation when a member of the family became a miller (the mill that still stands next to the house is the proof). When Jean DULON founded the property, there were only 12 hectares; today Michel DULON manages 140 hectares. The Vignobles Dulon are located in the Entre-Deux-Mers and Saint-Emilion of Bordeaux. Mr and Mrs DULON are the owners of four vineyards, which are spreading over the villages of Soulignac, Targon, Langoiran and Vignonet. The exceptional orientation of these vineyards and the special terroirs provide perfect conditions to produce great wines.
