APPLY TO LAUNCH YOUR BOOK AT UBUD WRITERS & READERS FESTIVAL 2019 From 23–27 October, leading authors, artists, thinkers and performers from across Indonesia and the world will converge for the 16th Ubud Writers & Readers Festival. Want to be part of the action? UWRF celebrates authors at all career stages and book launches are a unique opportunity to host a spotlight event for your work and be included in the Festival’s program book, website listings, and bookshop. Past participants include Tony Wheeler, Diana Darling, Shamini Flint, Ahmad Fuadi, Bondan Winarno, Michael Vatikiotis, Butet Manurung, Phil Jarratt, Galuh Wandita, and the Singapore Writers Group. Is it time for you to join their ranks? Submissions close Friday 24 May and are assessed by a curatorial committee. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 28 June.

HOW IT WORKS Ubud Writers & Readers Festival book launches are held in a range of fabulous restaurants, galleries and other venues around Ubud. The format of the event is up to you: speeches, a conversation, a reading, giveaways…it’s your vision! If you are travelling to attend the Festival you will need to make your own transport and accommodation arrangements. UWRF’s partners Periplus or Gramedia will sell copies of your book in the Festival bookshop. Depending on distribution into Indonesia you may be asked to bring stock to sell on consignment. UWRF will provide: • • • • • • •
Book launch venue including welcome drinks and canapés for 50 guests. Volunteer venue liaison. Basic technical setup of PA system. Some venues can also support audiovisual presentations. If required, volunteer MC to provide an introduction to the event. Detailed listing in printed program book (4,000 copies printed in 2018) and on the Festival website (285,000 website views in 2018). Sales of your book in the Festival bookshop. UWRF tote bag, t-shirt, Bilingual Anthology and 4-Day Pass.
All book launches are free events and open to the public.
