The advancement of technology has led to ease in the way we do things, an industry that has benefited from this advancement is the transportation industry, particularly the rail network. While this has been good to us it has reduced the importance and relevance of the human time. We now fit our schedules around the train times and wait for the train to pass. One gruesome example of this is the passage of the Canadian Pacific freight train through the city center, thereby causing minutes of wait time at the stops. This interactive design is situated at the intersection between 11 St SW and 9 Ave SW. The aim of this project is to restore the importance of the human time and turn a rather irrelevant and unproductive wait time for most, into something uplifting and something to look forward to. The project proposes a series of circular pixel screens applied to the side of each train car that when in close proximity with installed sensors at the traffi c stop, projects a game that can be played by the people waiting. The game is activated by finger gestures towards the sensor for the first cars on opposing side of the lane who compete against each other, with the first two index fingers used to control the movement of the computer generated figure for the amusement of themselves and those who wait behind. This intervention is critical in restoring the city as a place of upliftment in contrast to one ravished by the uncontrolled response to new. This interactive installation aims to blur the distinction between the artist and the users and aims to put the users in the forefront of the creation.
