2nd announcement of 5th uclg congress, 3 6 september, taipei

Dear UCLG ASPAC Members,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 5th UCLG ASPAC Congress, to be held from 3 to 6 September in Taipei.

The central theme of the Congress is “An adaptive city: embedding design in city governance”. Within this central theme, we will discuss a number of issues relevant to local and regional government: (1)The development and application of the smart city; (2) Adaptive city design in motion; (3)The development trend of green transportation and (4) How to construct a zero waste, recycling society.

The Congress will serve as a platform for cities and local governments in the Asia Pacific region to discuss best practices for adapting design into city planning and strategy.

Prominent international speakers will be invited to deliver speeches on related issues.

Shortly Taipei City will launch an official website of the Congress where you can register your participation online, getting updated about the congress programme and speakers and booking your accommodation. You will be kept informed on this matter.

In conjunction with the Congress, which comprises of the General Assembly, Council and Executive Bureau meetings, UCLG ASPAC will also hold the sub-­‐regional elections of Representatives to UCLG ASPAC Council and Executive Bureau 2014-­‐2016 and the election of UCLG ASPAC Presidency for 2014-­‐2016. The UCLG ASPAC Secretariat will provide you with further information about the elections.
