Our Interns: Inspiring the Youth
IN the beginning of 2018, UCLG ASPAC welcomes the enthusiastic interns to join the organization. Now, in the text below, you will see what drives them to volunteer their time and skills in the work we do. My name is Dhiya Rihadatul Aisy, people usually call me Aisy. I am third year student of Universitas Brawijaya, majoring in International Relations. I am focusing on global political economy and development. This is why I have chosen UCLG ASPAC as my internship place. I am studying about development and sustainable development goals and I have been volunteering in and outside the country about SDGs for the past two years. I am now helping UCLG ASPAC to make a publication about SDGs in Jakarta as a recommendation for Jakarta Government and other local governments to adopt SDGs and put it into planning. I am also a former manager of public relations in my faculty radio. I am using my skills to help UCLG ASPAC on social media update. I am happy to be part of UCLG ASPAC and I wish I can get professional experience while interning here before I jump into professional arena and I wish this experience could help me on my future plan to continue my master study in International Development. I choose International Development because I am interested in New Urban Agenda and I want to help least developed countries to get out of poverty and solve their poverty and inequality problems so they can stand as a strong and equal nations. So I wish my experience could bring me to a brighter future and help me to prepare myself before I go into a real professional world of work. My name is Mizalfia Nursabrina. I am an Undergraduate Student of Universitas Padjajaran majoring in International Law. From my study, I saw the ratification of many treaties and international agreements. My expectation in joining UCLG ASPAC as an intern is to be able to learn about the implementation of international agreements, such as the New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and other treaties relevant to urbanization and environmental issues within the local government. Currently, I am assigned to

support UCLG ASPAC’s team on its follow-up research on Enabling Environment Rating for Local Governments, focusing especially on the EE Rating implementation within Indonesian government. I am also assisting on policy change analysis on the public space project and doing coordination with said project on the aspect of SDGs. Besides, I also assist in social media distribution regarding the EE Rating, SDGs and UCLG ASPAC related activities in the WUF 9 to be held in Kuala Lumpur in early February. In the future, I would like to be a lawyer/legal advocate of international organizations for human rights.
