Welcoming ExBu: Tailoring Connectivity for Sustainable Community
CATBALOGANOS (citizens of Catbalogan) are now preparing for the first Asia-Pacific meeting in 2017. “Kauswagan Kalibutan: Creating Connections for Sustainable Societies” eagerly awaits the arrival of local leaders attending UCLG ASPAC Executive Bureau Meeting on 5-7 April 2017 in the capital city of Samar Province, Catbalogan City. Theme of the upcoming Executive Bureau meeting is selected as continuation of “Region, Life, and Culture in the New Urban Agenda,”topic of the 6th UCLG ASPAC Congress. The idea is to highlight the importance of connections to reach sustainability. This idea of connection is then translated further into various discussion sessions involving youth, women mayors and councilors, representatives with particular concerns in culture and innovations, as well as commitment to disaster risk reduction. The upcoming conference also highlights the implementation of SDGs and New Urban Agenda, and other global agenda, the Sendai Framework for Action. These will be brought into various activities: inspiring knowledge transfer, trade fair and science fair. While on the last day, city tour visiting different historical and cultural sites in Pieta Park, Church, Parola, Imelda Park, and Antiao River will surely add to the understanding of culture for sustainable societies. Registration is now open. We are calling on the participation of all local governments within the region: to share knowledge, to learn, and make connections for sustainable societies.
