International Urban Cooperation (IUC) Asia SupportDesk: a Solution Oriented Platform Managed by UCLG ASPAC
INTERNATIONAL Urban Cooperation is a three (3) years programme (2016-2019) funded by European Union that aims to enable cities to link up and share solutions to common problems faced by cities on urban development and climate change. The global IUC programme seeks to establish cooperation in the areas of sustainable urbanisation, climate change through sustainable energy on a mutual benefit-basis with existing and new key EU partners. The IUC is built on existing cooperation through three (3) components: - Component 1: City-to-city cooperation on sustainable urban development - Component 2: Sub-national action under the Global Covenant of Mayors initiative - Component 3: Inter-regional cooperation on innovation for local and regional development The IUC Asia, however, is focusing on Component 1 and Component 2. The IUC Asia SupportDesk is launched on 1 December 2017 with the intention to support the IUC Asia project by providing administrative, logistical, technical support and financial liaison to cities and local governments in needs. The SupportDesk will also ensure the project’s sustainability to take place and facilitate the establishment of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
