Publications for City Development in the Future
We agree that local government is key to local development. To equip these local authorities in developing their respective region, 2 publications have been produced and carefully arranged: City to City, A Guide to the UCLG Learning Universe by UCLG and World Cities Report 2016 by UN Habitat. City to City, A Guide to the UCLG Learning Universe This publication seeks to bring together a sample of members’ efforts – the UCLG universe of learning, illustrating some of the practices of decentralized cooperation and learning between cities over recent years. This rich array includes experiences from municipal associations from both the North and South, Regional Sections and Committees of UCLG, as well as direct city-to-city cooperation. World Cities Report 2016 | Urbanization and Development: Emerging Futures This is a flagship report which intends to inform preparation of the New Urban Agenda at the Habitat III meetings in Quito in October. It assesses and presents changes in urbanization since the Habitat II meetings in Istanbul in 1996 and then proposes how urbanization, urban planning and policy needs to change in the years ahead. This publication preparation involves UN staff, consultants and stakeholders.
