Visit from Urban Agriculture Researcher
KRISTINA Ulm, a Master Candidate from University of Stuttgart with the University of Sydney spent a worthwhile time from May 21 to June 14, at the UCLG ASPAC Secretariat to further her research on Urban Agriculture in Jakarta’s Kampungs on May 21 to June 14, 2016. Her research is focused on how urban agriculture, simply defined as urban food production, is practiced in Jakarta, particularly in urban villages, and what factors determine the success and failure of these practices. Facilitated by UCLG ASPAC, she was linked with the of Head of Agriculture unit in the Jakarta City Government, Diah Medianti as well as Sigit Kusumawijaya, architect and urban designer, who is also the co-founder of local NGO Indonesia Berkebun. At the end of her visit, she successfully gained valuable data for her Master’s thesis and expressed excitement on the usefulness of her time in Jakarta. Asked about Indonesia’s capital city, Kristina said she loved Jakarta very much, especially the people and its climate. On her last day, she thanked the UCLG ASPAC team for accommodating and assisting in her field research. We wish her all the best!
