Nepal Cities: Celebrating the Silver Jubilee and Project Launching
Some partners of MUAN including the Secretary General of UCLG ASPAC have received appreciations for their contributions to MUAN and its members.
ON March 16, 2018, UCLG ASPAC joined Municipal Association of Nepal (MuAN)’s Silver Jubilee Ceremony, a celebration of 25-years of local governments’ efforts in Nepal developing their local areas. UCLG ASPAC, represented by its Secretary General, Bernadia Irawati Tjandradewi, shared the joy with Mayors and Deputy Mayors, members of MuAN. She received the MUAN’s appreciation for her
outstanding contribution in enhancing local governments’ capacity in Asia-Pacific region. The celebration was marked with cake cutting. In line with the celebration of local governments’ development efforts, UCLG ASPAC also launched “City Network Advocacy on Sanitation in South Asia” project and signing ceremony. “City Network Advocacy on Sanitation in South Asia” is an advocacy project of UCLG ASPAC supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. UCLG ASPAC, through the project, will advocate the importance of Non-Sewerage System (NSS) and strengthen the capacity of local governments in implementing Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) – Institutional and Regulatory Framework (IRF). The project targets local governments and their associations in two countries, Bangladesh and Nepal. Municipal Association of Bangladesh (MAB) and MuAN will be the implementing agencies of the project. The project will contribute in improving and implementing the national policies and developing various financing schemes on NSS and FSM. The signing ceremony between MUAN and UCLG ASPAC held on 16 March 2018 officially marked the beginning of the project in Nepal. >> The signing of MOU witnessed by Minister of Finance of Nepal, President and Board Members of MUAN.
