Over the past few years, the UHCC has become an influential organization and a strong voice for the Hispanic business community in Utah. It plays a key role in coordinating and defining common goals for the relationships between business, community and government. One of the truly valuable benefits of this organization is that it provides an effective forum for members and organizations to share knowledge and experiences with each other.

Logrando tener un rol importante en la coordinación y definición de metas en común entre los empresarios, la comunidad y el gobierno. ACCESO
On the fourth Tuesday of every month the Hispanic Chamber hosts “Acceso”. This workshop was created as an educational vehicle for small to medium businesses as well as for those just starting out. For the “Acceso” we partner up with some of our more experienced professionals within our membership and local business community for an open and candid discussion on the various aspects of business. Every month, we cover a new topic such as taxes, human resources, marketing, etc. Members are invited to come and share their success stories with smaller and younger businesses offering advice on how they made their business succeed. This program teaches business owners how to maximize their time, their money, and their organizations to better position themselves in the world of business.

ADVANCED BUSINESS GROWTH For the Chambers’ small and medium sized businesses, we have created the Advanced Business Growth Workshop to build their competitive edge. The workshops are focused on topics that help the business owner build their capacity in key areas that will help strengthen their business sales, promotion, marketing, and professional development. Each workshop is facilitated by an expert in the content area who provides practical and timely advice. Workshops are open to both members and non-members for a small fee.
TOASTMASTERS To provide a mutually supportive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop oral communication & leadership skills.

FastTrac provides existing and aspiring entrepreneurs with key business insights and skills, leadership experiences, and valuable networking and mentoring opportunities they need to start, grow, and lead businesses. “I have been in this country for 32 years and I always had the idea of starting a business. It is my American dream.” By invitation of a close friend, Jeronimo came to the Beehive State and although his first choice was Logan, later he found Salt Lake City as the ideal place to fulfill his dream. Once he had the location to build JJH Auto Body & Paint, as any businessman would, he looked for similar businesses in the area and surprisingly he found that he was the first one offering body shop and auto collision services in a bilingual setting.

Thirty years after he emigrated to the United States and with the support of his family, Jeronimo Hernandez accomplished the dream of opening his own company.

Making a team with his son Johnny and daughter Irene, Jeronimo leads a competitive company, with the mission of achieving customer satisfaction.
“I have been in this country for 32 years and I always had the idea of starting a business. It is my American dream, and I wanted to run a big business with all the permits and licenses in order,” he said.
“When someone is involved in a car accident, many people and especially Latinos, don’t know how to make an insurance claim or know what to do after the accident. In those cases, our work is also to help, to give advice or counseling,” he said.
His entrepreneurial spirit led him from working in the fields to building his own company, with the mission of achieving customer satisfaction. Jeronimo was 13-years-old when he decided to leave his small town and pursue a better future. In Mexico City, he began working in the automotive industry and found the trade that would make him a living. Looking for more, he decided to migrate to the US, and after spending two years in Texas, he moved to California. “I lived the longest time in California. My children were born there, but the reality is the cost of living is high and I was always looking for options. I never got rid of the idea of having my own business, but rent and expenses were extremely high, like three or four times compared to Utah,” he said.

Fue a los 13 años de edad que Jerónimo decidió abandonar el campo y salir a buscar un futuro mejor. En la Ciudad de México comenzó a trabajar en la industria automotriz y encontró el oficio que ocuparía gran parte de su vida. Sus inquietudes por salir adelante, lo llevaron a emigrar a los Estados Unidos y después de permanecer dos años en Texas, emigró a California. “Viví el mayor tiempo en California, mis hijos nacieron ahí, pero la realidad es que es un lugar muy caro y yo siempre estuve buscando opciones, nunca me deshice de la idea de tener mi propio negocio, pero las rentas eran sumamente elevadas, por lo menos tres o cuatro veces más en comparación con Utah”, explicó. Por recomendación de un amigo, Jerónimo visitó el estado de Utah y aunque su primera opción fue Logan, posteriormente encontró en Salt Lake City el lugar idóneo para iniciar su propio negocio.
“Hay muchos talleres de pintura convencionales , pero un taller como éste es el primero”, aseguró. Promociones exclusivas, calidad en cada uno de los trabajos que realizan y trato personalizado, son algunas de las características que los distinguen. Junto a sus hijos Johnny e Irene, Jerónimo, encabeza un equipo dedicado y competitivo, con la misión de brindar un espacio de confianza para los clientes. “Al chocar su auto, muchas personas y especialmente nuestra gente, no sabe como hacer un reclamo o qué hacer después del accidente y nosotros también estamos aquí para ayudarles, para darles un consejo o asesoría”, destacó. El taller “JJH Auto Body & Paint”, se especializa en auto colisiones y trabaja con todas las compañías aseguradoras. Jerónimo Hernández es miembro de la Cámara de comercio Hispana de Utah desde 2011.

ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT Our Annual Golf
Tournament benefits the Somos Foundation and UHCC Educational programs. Funds raised from the tournament help develop business leaders and improve opportunities for Latino students and professionals throughout Utah. UHCC member organizations graciously donate prizes and services to accommodate more than 120 participants. Players receive breakfast, lunch, drinks, and raffle prizes. The tournament also provides networking opportunities for our chamber members, local businesses, corporate and government leaders.
SOMOS SCHOLARSHIP GALA The Annual Scholarship Gala is hosted by the UHCC and the Somos Foundation, every November in downtown Salt Lake. Each year the Gala raises scholarship money for deserving Latino students to help promote the American Dream through education. The Scholarship Gala begins with a reception and silent auction. Throughout the event, the Foundation awards scholarships to Latino students who demonstrate a strong commitment to education and who contribute to the economic development of the Latino community.
ALMUERZO MENSUAL RSVP Otra de nuestras actividades principales es nuestro Almuerzo Mensual RSVP, el cual proporciona oportunidades para establecer relaciones comerciales y profesionales en Utah.
