Concentrating on the future to many students is all too daunting. Dwelling on the past is too regretful. This school year, we dominated our fears, established our goals, and achieved our dreams. High school rushes past in a blur, not slowing down for anyone. Capturing each moment, from the hardest tests to the loudest events, was nearly impossible. The bell rang from class to class, with students blurring past each other in the hopes of getting to class on time. We skipped breakfast in the hopes of getting ready just slightly faster and turned in projects sometimes all too rushed. Every part of the day felt hurried. There were so many school clubs that a fog of activities fell over the campus. Bouncing from FFA to NHS felt like a never ending rush. We pushed ourselves to a glistening future we hoped to achieve. Despite all this rush, we found ourselves. Every detail of our high school lives was painted in our memories. The blurs we created formed perfect images of the people we became. What seemed like rushed projects molded into intellectual masterpieces. The high school experience that seemed so blurry turned clear. All we had to do was live in the present. All we had to do was focus.

Beads of sweat dripping down their necks and a shortness of breathe from running in heavy gear paired well with the state of a football player. From the hours of practice after school to the late nights playing games, the football season was filled with excitement. “I have never felt prouder than I have this season,” coach John Jacob said. Each practice consisted of conditioning, training, and a run through of plays. The coaches were determined to have every player, varsity and junior varsity, ready for each game. Running from one end of the field to the other to build up endurance and pushing heavy mats across the field were exercises in order to make the players stronger. Hard practices ensured a victorious game that every player could be proud of participating in. “The practices were tough, but they made the games easy,” freshman Caleb Stone said. When it came to games, the football team always held their focus. Keeping their eye on the ball was essential to scoring touchdowns. Every movement was tracked and every player was accounted for. “I always felt like part of the team,” junior Perry Stephens said. Through all the hard work the football team did, they achieved their dreams. The football team made it all the way to their regional championships, where they became the second best team in southeast. Every moment, both glorious and painful, formed into a prideful title that every player could hold on to for years to come. “There’s no better feeling than knowing all your effort can eventually get you somewhere,” senior David Crown said. 6

REACHING UP Senior George Whitman reaches for the ball at the homecoming game. “I’m proud that I made a difference for our team,” Whitman said. WALKING Junior Leon Philips walks across the field during the game. “Football keeps me active in school,” Philips said. LINED UP Sophomores Guy Pointe and Jacob Bates prepare for their next play. “The moment just before the game starts is usually the most intense,” Bates said. ON THE FIELD The football team stands on the field just after their victory in the game against Oak Ridge High School. “I’ve never been prouder to be part of something,” Junior John Adams said. RUNNING Senior Ryan Washington runs across the field to provide defense. “Defense is one of the most important parts of playing,” Washington said. CROWD The fans cheer on their favorite team, hoping for the win. “I am so proud of our team this year,” freshman Sarah Luck said. ON THE BENCH The football team rests before working hard on their next play. “Every game takes every bit of energy,” senior Clyde Smith said. HELMETS OFF Junior Justin Lake walks with pride after scoring a touchdown for the team. “It’s always a great feeling to score,” Lake said.

Just as any team could hope, the football team cooperated not just on the field, but off the field as well. When done playing games, the team would spend some time bonding over pizza nights and football hangouts in order to form a healthier, more cooperative team. “Team bonding was probably the best part, besides the games,” sophomore Will Gwen said.
