Super Bowl LII Eagles winning the 2018 Super Bowl against the Patriots shocks millions across the nation, leaving country thinking how exactly they did it. BY JAYSON TARONJI
Shocking the nation on February 14th was the Philadelphia Eagles beating the defending champ New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. The most watched show in America, maybe even the world, is always full of exciting surprises as the two best teams in football square off to see who deserves the title of Super Bowl Champion. The Patriots have always been America’s most hated team and seeing them lose (which they rarely 6 Orange City Illustrated
do) in the biggest game to an underdog has unleashed both a wave of celebrations and chaos throughout the country. In Philadelphia, who had just won their first ever Super Bowl, thousands of people ran through the city, destroying any and everything they see, including shops, cars, and even traffic lights. While it is understandable for the fans of this team to get excited see-
seeing their team win, it isn’t right to see them destroy their city and each other by climbing on top of one another and throwing bricks through windows and cars. It has left the country wondering how exactly they were able to win on that Sunday night. Looking at the stats, it’s a lot easier to see how the eagles beat the Patriots Sunday night. In an ESPN article, “How the Eagles beat the Patriots at their own game and why the upset was historic,” by staff writer Bill Barnwell, Barnwell talks about how the Eagles ‘Out Patriot -ed the Patriots.’ “The Patriots weren’t out-schemed,” Barnwell said. “They weren’t overwhelmed by a dominant defensive line, as they were during their Super Bowl defeats against the New York Giants. They were out-executed. Bill Belichick’s team made sloppy mistakes throughout the game and left the door open just wide enough for the Eagles to fly on in.” This game was not totally in favor of one team, as previous Super Bowls have been. It came down to who
who wanted it more. For Tom Brady, winning another ring isn’t important as winning that very first one. Nick Foles and the Eagles played a fantastic game against one of
of the all time best NFL teams in history. Coach Bill Belichick congratulated the Eagles for their performance, but made sure they knew, “We’ll be back next year.” vv OCI 7 Orange City Illustrated

Justin Timberlake JT puts on a perfromance many people are calling unimpressive and bland. BY JAYSON TARONJI
“Horrific.” “Spectacular.” “ Dissapointing.” Justin Timberlake was called all of these and many more after he took the stage at Super Bowl LII, performing timeless hits like “Sexy Back,” “Suit and Tie,” and “Can’t stop the feeling” as well as his newest release “Filthy.” For many former NSync and JT super fans, the announcement that we would be performing at the halftime show excited millions around the country. This of course, would be his third time taking the stage, as he had already been in 2001 with his former boy band and again in 2004 along side Janet Jackson. The history of performances has dated back longer before. The first to do their own performance in a Super Bowl was the King of Pop Michael
Jackson with his “Heal the World” performance. We’ve seince then have had concerts from idols like Aerosmith, Madonna, and Beyonce, newer singers like Bruno Mars, Coldplay and Katy Perry, and bands such as Boyz II Men, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and, of course, N’Synce. We may have not had giant explosions and inflatable animals, but Justin Timberlake hyped up a crowd just as well as some past legends have. To say that the chose wrong to pick him for the performance would be to go against millions around the U.S (and the world) who love a good show. Even though some crtics may call it “boring,” snd “overhyped,” Justin’s performance would still go down as one of the best performances this century, if not all time.OCI
