The students of Xavier Academy are anything but normal. Being known as the smallest schools in the county there aren’t many things that happen on our campus that everyone doesn’t know about. Outsiders describe the school as “hidden” because of the thick forestry that’s shades our campus. From football to theatre and everything in between the only thing small about our school is the population. When we decide to do something we do it big. All 100 of Xavier Academy students refuse to hide in the shadows and there’s no lack of involvement amongst the students. Among the hidden students here at Xavier Academy is the few and the proud and we may be small, but there’s nothing holding us back from the countless opportunities outside of these halls. You’ll find a tight knit group of students here and don’t be surprised when you see the jocks excelling in the arts.

Out in the Lights
After 15 years, the Eagles return to the playing field with the largest and loudest crown in Xavier Academy history. After the loss of funding for the football team 15 years ago, the new Eagles have been fighting hard in anticipation for this night. The sidelines and bleachers were packed with over 2,000 attendants at the opening game. Fans cheering, hearts pumping, players focued, this was the night the team has been waiting for since they started practice in early June. The pressure was on and the boys were experiencing some mixed emotions before taking the field. It was and intense game. At the end of the second quarter the game was tied 14 to 14. "I couldn't believe the game had finally come, we worked so hard to get here and we werent going to let it get away from us," junior quarterback Robert Jones said. High. They raised funds, collected signatures and presented a case to the school district to bring back the sport that had been so popular years ago. Bringing football back wouldnt have been possible without the help of so many dedicated fans. “It was a bittersweet moment finding out that football would return to my Alma Mater and I have the honor to be the head coach,” Coach Rob Mick said. The football players weren’t the only people working hard this summer in preparation for opening night. The Marching Eagles and cheer squad also practiced countless hours waiting for their time to shine. The two groups choreographed a performance for the halftime show, the fans could be heard miles away. “I was nervous at first but once we got out on the field and the music started I forgot there were thousands of people watching,” sophomore cheerleader Brianna Knowles said.
