Little Known Facts In 1984, Keith McDonald (BMgt ’87) found an unlocked access panel that led to the roof of University Hall. Together with Frank Jetter (BASc ’85) and a few other co-conspirators, the group used a cantilever crane to lift parts of an old Volkswagen Beetle onto the roof of UHall, reassembling the car with chicken wire. When morning came, nobody knew how a car had gotten up there, a secret that was kept for over 30 years.
From top to bottom, the Fine Arts staircase boasts an impressive 124 steps. With all the running back and forth between classes, University of Lethbridge students really do have an education that can take their breath away.
In the level 8 hallway of the Centre for the Arts, you can find the Niche Art Gallery. What sets it apart from other art gallery spaces on campus is that it is located in a locker, giving it a unique size and space for artists to work with. The gallery is typically booked two years in advance.
The 20-foot high Aperture sculpture has been a fixture on campus since it was unveiled in 1972. In 1985, the ULAA buried a time capsule at the base of the Aperture that contains artifacts that give a glimpse into the University’s history. This time capsule is set to be opened in 2067, which will be uLethbridge’s 100th anniversary.
For the last however-many-years that you’ve spent at the University of Lethbridge, it has been your home. No matter where you go or what you do, always remember that uLethbridge alumni are forever blue and gold. Take a moment to be proud of your accomplishments and everything that has brought you to this moment. The late nights, the perseverance during times of doubt, it was all worth it.
