Art History/Museum Studies Art Studio Art History/Museum Studies Students entering a BFA (Art) with a major in Art History/ Museum Studies are NOT required to submit a portfolio.

Spring Application Deadline: November 1 Tip: Apply early and submit all documents and portfolio. Your portfolio is required before a decision can be made on your application.

STEP 2 – University Requirements High School requirements: Must have a combined average of 65% in English 30-1 (or equivalent), three academic classes and a fifth course that can be academic or non-academic. Details at: discover.ulethbridge.ca/highschool/thinkapply.ezc Transfer student requirements: Must have a 2.0 GPA. Post-Diploma requirements: Must have a 2.5 GPA. June 15 November 15

Fall Document Deadline Spring Document Deadline

Transcripts must be forwarded to the U of L from all high schools and post-secondary institutions you attended. Through ApplyAlberta, applicants authorize the U of L to request transcripts on their behalf from Alberta Education or publicly funded post-secondary institutions in Alberta. Applicants attending private institutions in Alberta or educational institutions out-of-province must arrange to have official transcripts sent directly to the U of L Registrar’s Office and Student Services. Submitting interim transcripts may lead to early admission. If English is not your first language you must meet the English Language Proficiency requirement.

Art Studio Students entering the BFA (Art) with an Art Studio major or the pre-BFA (Art)/B.Ed degree programs must submit an art portfolio. June 15 November 15

Portfolio Your portfolio consists of a personal statement, examples of your artwork, and image list. Your portfolio informs the Art Department about your creative interests, experience, skills, and direction. Choose your best work and present it professionally. Personal Statement The personal statement provides insight into your background, experience, inspirations, and goals. In approx. 500 words, explain your reasons for wanting to study Art. Include references to artistic interests, specific influences, and any educational background in the arts. Examples of Artwork Submit 10-20 current pieces that provide a good representation of your range of art interests and skills. Works may be created inside or outside a formal class environment. Do not send original works. You may submit more than one image of a single artwork if the work is large or complex.

Examples of the range of materials you can submit: Drawings, prints, paintings, or murals Photography (analog or digital), collage, or other mixed media works Video, performance, animation, or audio based work Sculpture, fibre, or ceramic work Website, graphic novel, and zine productions Sketchbook and journal examples Image List Include a list of all works submitted, with titles, materials, dimensions, date, and a small description of the work, along with your name and contact information. Portfolio Development (Optional) If you need assistance in building a portfolio, complete one or more of the following thematic projects. Include images of the completed projects, indicating the theme used. Make a collage on the subject of the storm -- using only materials cut from magazines, newspapers, and advertisements. Create a 90 second video (DVD) that investigates the idea of stillness.
