This guide is the first in a series of resources developed to ease your transition to ULethbridge. It will show you, step-by-step, what you need to do before you join us at the start of term. DO THIS FIRST

Set up campus login (have your ULethbridge ID number ready)

Log in to the Bridge (your student portal). You will use the Bridge often throughout your time at ULethbridge

Once in the Bridge, select Student > Admissions > Make Deposit Payment and Accept Offer. Paying your deposit secures your seat.

If you have questions, book an enrolment advising appointment using our handy booking calendar.

The sooner you accept your offer of admission, the sooner you’ll get to register for classes throughout your time at ULethbridge. This means you’ll have a better chance of getting into the courses you need when you want to take them.

DO THIS NEXT

Go to the Bridge and select Student > Admissions > Your Admission status to make sure you are on track.

What you may see:

• Outstanding documents

• Additional admission requirements, i.e., prerequisite courses you need for your program

• English Language Proficiency (ELP) Requirements

• Complete the MANDATORY GenderBased and Sexual Violence Prevention Education Training

• Know your deadlines

GET READY FOR CLASSES

You’ve set up your account, you’ve accepted your offer, now what?

Get to know your Program Planning Guide (PPG). It’s the roadmap of the courses and requirements for your degree.

Learn what courses are offered in your first term. This will take you to the Bridge. Once there, go to STUDENT and then REGISTRATION.

Now that you’ve seen your PPG and the timetable, try to build your schedule. * Don’t forget to check each course’s campus and the delivery method ! If you need help, book an enrolment advising appointment.

Register for the Early Start Experience at the Lethbridge Campus

If you are worried about the academic or social transition to university, the Early Start Experience is for you! In this enhanced version of the Liberal Education 1500 First Year Experience course, you get to develop the skills you will need to succeed in University, meet a diverse group of fellow first-year students, and earn a full 3-credit course before the fall term.

If you are living in campus Housing, you can also move in early!

Build Your Community

Lethbridge campus: When you accept your offer of admission, you will be assigned a student mentor — a senior-level student who can answer

your questions, offer support and suggest resources for your success! Who better to ask, than someone who’s been through it?

Ahead of the Herd (AOTH) is the first Saturday in June

New Student Orientation (NSO) is the Tuesday before the start of term

Attending these two events is important as you’ll learn where to find help when you need it and meet other new students/make friends before classes start. Developing a support system is important for success at university, and you will get a head start at AOTH and NSO!

Our Calgary campus also hosts New Student Orientation (NSO) on the first day of classes.

Living in Lethbridge

Apply for on-campus housing ASAP if you plan to live on campus. (Lethbridge campus only). It is a popular choice and the number of beds are limited.

Dedicated resident parking is available to all residents upon online check-in.

Request your Campus ID/UPASS card. (Lethbridge campus only)

Fund Your Education

Step 1: Receive an offer of admission and set up your Bridge account. Step 2: Apply for awards via the Bridge (Application typically opens in early January)

Apply for scholarships and student loans.

DO THIS ASAP!

Alberta students need to create a verified alberta.ca account prior to applying for student loans.

Bookstore

Check out the textbooks and supplies you need for classes. You can choose from new, used and digital versions of your textbooks.

The on-campus bookstore has:

• Textbook Express

• Textbook Reservation

• Access the online or in-person store bookstore.uleth.ca

Accessible Learning Centre

If you have a documented disability, the Accessible Learning Centre coordinates learning supports for students. They have also sourced and created learning resources that are accessible to all students. Under “Resources,” you can find academic writing help, accessibility features, time management, online learning, wellness and more!

The Universal Transit Pass (UPass) gives you unlimited access to local transit during each term you are registered for classes. It is an environmentally friendly, cost-effective and safe way to navigate Lethbridge. (Lethbridge campus only)

Pronghorn Athletics and Sport & Recreation Services (S&RS)

• If you want to play sports for fun, join intramurals where teamwork makes the dream work.

• Join the Herd as a fan

• As a ULethbridge student, your campus ID gets you access to the gym, fitness centre, climbing wall and Olympic-size pool

DID YOU KNOW? We have an 18-hole disc golf course on campus that is free to use. With your student ID, discs can be borrowed free of charge from S&RS.

Your Students’ Union (ULSU) has so many great ways for you to explore your interests, skills and passions. Even better, you meet future besties. ulsu.ca

• Student government

• Student clubs and academic student groups

• CKXU is a volunteer-driven radio society that provides independent campus & community radio.

• The Meliorist is the University of Lethbridge’s independent, student-run publication.

• Q-Space is a club on campus to support 2SLGBTQ+ students and ally students by providing a place of advocacy and inclusion.

• Campus Collective Centre is an on-campus safe space. It supplies resources, activities and mentorship to all ULethbridge students.

• Iikaisskani Indigenous Services offers added services and supports for Indigenous ULethbridge students.

• The International Centre offers unique travel opportunities, student employment, advising and other great resources for International ULethbridge students.

• REC Rooms (Refresh, Energize, and Connect) are spaces across campus to take a break, hang out, relax, and meet friends. (Calgary students, there is a REC Room on the Calgary campus as well!)

• ULethbridge in Calgary also offers services, supports and resources to students. Some services are offered remotely, (e.g., Counselling Services and Career Bridge), but retain the same quality as in-person options on the Lethbridge campus. We continue to increase the number of in-person offerings in Calgary; these include academic advising, Writing Centre, Rec Room and more.
