Self-care is not selfish. It's an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.

AGO Letter Writing Campaign for SB 1414
Did you know in California, soliciting sex with a child for money is an only a misdemeanor?
Senate Bill (SB) 1414, proposed by Senator Shannon Grove, would make it a felony to solicit, agree to engage, or engage in sex with minors for money.
Soror Stephany Powell Advocates for SB 1414!
Why do we need a letter writing campaign?
- Committee members forced Republican author State Sen. Shannon Grove to make changes to Senate Bill 1414 to exempt children ages 16 and 17.
- The Senate Public Safety Committee passed the bill 4-0 on the condition of those changes. SB1414 would classify the crime as a felony, carrying a maximum penalty of up to four years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
- Currently, purchasing or soliciting a child for sex is a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of up to a year in jail, or a minimum of two days in jail, along with a $10,000 fine.
MISSION
The Appropriations Committee will hear the bill no later than May 17th. That is the last day for that committee to hear all bills. We can submit support letters to make our voices heard!
“Bottom line, no minor of any age should be bought or sold! It should be a felony.” HARD STOP!!!! Anything less is unacceptable.
