Scripture Scripture
Judges 4:4-5 Judges 4:4-5
““Deborah was a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth. She was judge Deborah was a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth. She was judge over Israel at that time. She held court under Deborah’s Palm... over Israel at that time. She held court under Deborah’s Palm...
The people of Israel went to her in matters of Justice.” The people of Israel went to her in matters of Justice.”
Deborah was a woman with at least four jobs – can any of you women relate to this? First, she was a wife. Second, according to Judges 5:7, she was a mother. Third, she was a judge. And finally, she was a prophetess who spoke God’s Word to people. Her job was not to tell people what she thought, but to tell people what God thought, we see this in verses 4-5. She fostered teachings, and obeyed the law. She settled disputes, mediated, regulated and she commanded respect. There are some qualities in Deborah’s life that make her an extraordinary woman a woman of obedience, just like us.
As Alpha Kappa Alpha sisters, shall we make a commitment to our continued journey through this sisterhood, and, as we walk, we let “Deborah”, an obeying woman, walk with us . Remembering, that not only do we, proceed “to foster thy teachings and obey thy laws”, of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., but the teachings of the trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
