Empowering Women in Green Industry Mr. LI Yong Educating and investing in women and girls has a multiplier effect on productivity, efficiency and economic growth. But economically strengthening women is not only a means by which to spur and sustain inclusive industrial development. It is also a matter of advancing women's human rights.

Mr. Neil Buhne Gender equality and women’s economic empowerment is not only important from the perspective of realizing women’s rights but is also imperative for smart economies. Ms. Shahina Waheed Women Green Industry Initiative creates awareness, knowledge and capacities. We work with governments to support industrial institutions that in turn provide assistance to enterprises and entrepreneurs in all aspects relating to the greening of industry. Women are important agents of change, and a more equal inclusion of both women and men could propel green industry and lead to better development outcomes.

Change Agents Rehana Aziz My life thus far has taught me many things: that I love change and thrive in dynamic environments; that hardships and struggle do not have to mark the end of a person’s journey. My campaign RE Journey Pakistan (previously known as Solar Energy Engineers/Professionals Pakistan) invites everyone to join the “energy revolution,” and aims to enrich learning opportunities for youth who are interested in the new and developing technologies. Through it and other community outlets I hope to prompt others to learn more about the possibilities presented by solar energy, and to teach them to act in ways that protect the environment. I want to provide hope and inspiration to young women, as a demonstration of what we are capable of when we dare to pursue our dreams, against all odds, and to show the individuals and organizations involved in the solar industry and other career fields that women are excited to be valuable, strong, and dedicated assets to their companies, if they will just let them in.

Samreen Siddique The orthodox view that 'women are not fit for this field' has always motivated and strengthened me. I wish to be a role model for the next generation of women in science so that they never have to listen to this phrase again. I would highly recommend other girls to join this industry because there are a number of opportunities right now in this emerging field. The scope is limitless, particularly because Pakistan has vast amount of untapped energy resources. Women connections are important and being in a male-dominated field, I have always wished for more women colleagues in my work . environment.

Sana Rizwan During my professional tenure of six years, the renewable energy industry has always been very kind to me. Since this industry is growing, it has kept me challenged to do something innovative to maintain a competitive advantage. It has made me a confident person, helped me to widen my mental horizon, shaping my personality and has always kept me motivated to go ahead. Before joining the industry, I wasn’t really sure about choosing my career as an engineer, however I made the choice keeping in mind my sharp technical skills and haven’t regretted this decision ever since.
