SAIDI AND SAIFI POWER QUALITY INDICATOR PROTOTYPE FOR RESIDENCIL USERS.

Colombia in recent years has presented increases in its energy service rates, this has generated disagreement in the majority of residential users. Which expect an improvement in the quality of service, however, they find a different reality. Currently, there is the SAIDI indicator, which measures the average duration of power interruptions in hours, and SAIFI, an indicator that counts the frequency of power supply interruptions. Managing these indicators, this project seeks to design and build a prototype electric power quality meter for residential users. This project is important, since it will allow residential users to have a record of the quality indicators at home, monitoring the quality of electrical energy supplied by the service provider companies. The following are part of the design and construction of this prototype: An LCD screen, an external memory, a realtime clock, a voltage sensor, controlled by an Arduino Uno microprocessor. The impact of the project lies in the possibility of taking users a device that is currently not marketed by any company in Colombia, with the intention of encouraging the residential user to monitor these quality indicators, since keeping the record of these indicators allows, according to CREG resolution 015 of 2018, to receive financial compensation in the event of insufficient quality of service. In conclusion, it was investigated that residential users are unaware of the indicators to measure the quality of electrical service, so they do not have access to information on power interruptions, nor do they have evidence or support to claim economic compensation when the quality of service it is defective. For this reason it is essential to build this device to empower residential users.
