TELEMETRY SYSTEM OF A BIDIRECTIONAL METER THROUGH LORAWAN PROTOCOL.

The Renewable Energy Laboratory of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department has a renewable energy point that is interconnected to the university’s electrical network. However, taking into account that this point does not have an updated monitoring system of its variables and in order to encourage more ambitious projects in the University Campus and the interaction with other departments, the prototype of a telemetry and monitoring system of a bidirectional electric meter is proposed. First, the measurements of the variables are extracted from the SharkMeter by means of a Raspberry Pi connected to a RS 485-232 converter. In addition to this, the LoRaWAN protocol and LoRa technology is implemented in such a way that it complies with a low cost, presents low power in order to preserve durability and allows covering long distances. The visualization is presented through a web interface, which allows access to a data history and the update of measurements in a range of approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Moreover, LoRa technology allows an approximate distance range of 240 meters for sending data.
