LOW POWER TAG PROTOTYPE FOR CATTLE TRACKING USING LORAWAN PROTOCOL - PHASE 2.

This document details the design process of a prototype cattle location tag developed for low power consumption and a miniaturized size, in order to reduce the abigeato, which today generates large losses in the Colombian cattle sector, in the same way we also seek in the development of this project to introduce new technologies in this sector as a way to solve this problem. This system is based on LoRa (Long Range) communications technology and the LoRaWAN protocol, making use of hardware such as the LoRa RFM95W chip, the Adafruit QT Py SAMD21 microcontroller and the GPS (Global Positioning System) L80, in addition to a photovoltaic power system with two small solar panels and a rechargeable battery of 3.7 volts and 220 mAh. The final prototype has a reduced size of 75x60mm and a daily consumption of 0.366Wh which was calculated from the tests carried out. In addition, the battery that powers the system has a daily charge life of 10.3h and a full charge time of 1.8h using the solar cells.
