The University of Suffolk is a great place to begin your research journey and embark on a postgraduate research degree.

We work in partnership with the University of Brighton to offer PhD studies in the following research areas:

Working closely with academics in one of our research areas and supported by our Suffolk Doctoral College, you will become a valued part of our emergent research community.

Students wishing to undertake a research degree with us will enrol and be supervised at the University of Suffolk in Ipswich, and registered with the University of Brighton. On successful completion, your PhD will be awarded by the University of Brighton. This partnership ensures that you can access high-quality supervision here in Ipswich and take advantage of the specialist areas of research on offer, whilst also benefitting from the additional opportunities and a rich academic history from the University of Brighton.

The PhD is the UK’s highest academic qualification and recognises an original contribution to knowledge. Your supervisory team will support you through your PhD journey and will be on hand to provide advice and guidance as you progress through your studies.
