h e a p , e a s y, a n d p u r c h a s e d a t the click of the mouse; socalled ‘legal highs’ have explode d o n t o t h e m a r ke t , b u t n o o n e k n o w s e x a c t l y w h a t ’s i n t h e m o r how harmful they may be. Often sold as bath salts or plant fe r t i l i z e r s , t h e c h e m i c a l s i n m o s t ‘legal highs’ have never been teste d fo r h u m a n c o n s u m p t i o n . T h e British news is littered with stories of hospital admissions and d e a t h s l i n ke d w i t h t h e u s e o f t h e s e substances. Mephedrone (also known as Meow M e o w ) , I v o r y Wa v e , a n d 5 -I T a l l started out as a ‘legal highs’ as they p r o d u c e s i m i l a r e f fe c t s t o i l l e g a l drugs such as cocaine and ecsta-

s y, b u t t h r o u g h r e s e a r c h a n d t h e n e g a t i v e e f fe c t s p e o p l e h a v e h a d from them they have since been upgraded to class B drugs. In January 2013, a UWE student living in M a r ke t g a t e , B r i s t o l , w a s h o s p i t a l ized after overdosing on the now illegal hallucinogenic drug 2CB. This can sometimes leave you confused when it comes to knowing where is good, or which night club suits y o u b e s t . Drinks tend to be a little p r i c e y a n d t i c ke t s t o t h e m a j o rity of events are usually around a b o u t £ 2 0 . THEKLA Thekla is the epitome of Bristol. A nightclub on a boat, such a simple b u t e f fe c t i v e i d e a , o n e t h a t i s v e r y unique to the city! The alternative venue has an interesting layout, o f fe r i n g t w o s t a g e s o n d i f fe r e n t l e v e l s w i t h a q u i r k y fe e l a n d l o o k . Thekla brings together musicians f r o m a l l o v e r t h e c o u n t r y, f r o m live bands to soloists and upcomi n g D J ’s . I f y o u ’r e i n t o y o u r h o u s e , garage or bass music then give Thekla a go. The picturesque club sits on the Mud Dock area of Brist o l ’s f l o a t i n g h a r b o u r a n d h a s a n atmosphere that can be described a s i n t i m a t e ! I f y o u d o n’t l i ke t h e sweaty type of nights, jumping all over the place or confined spaces t h e n T h e k l a p r o b a b l y i s n’t fo r y o u ! D r e s s c o d e i s c a s u a l , b u t d o n’t b e afraid, be brave and put on that multi-coloured cat suit or the old s c h o o l j a c ke t y o u ’ v e b e e n t o o s h y t o w e a r . Located in the city centre just off of Broadmead shopping c e n t r e , i t i s p e r h a p s k n o w n fo r its cheesy anthems and over the t o p e v e n t s ! This is certainly a popular venue fo r a p o s t - g a m e p a r t y, s o t e n d s to be full of sportsmen and women either celebrating or drowning their sorrows!

he Mexican food chain Chiquito has two restaurants in Bristol, one in Cribbs Causeway a n d t h e o t h e r i n E m e r s o n’s G r e e n . Both restaurants have this month undergone a revamp with new décor in the restaurants and a complete menu overhaul. The new décor in the restaurant was fresh and inviting with many new booths placed throughout to give diners much more privacy while they are enjoying their meals. When visiting both restaurants i n E m e r s o n’s G r e e n a n d C r i b b s Causeway we were welcomed by really friendly staff that continu e d t o m a ke s u r e e v e r y t h i n g w a s

great throughout the meal. The C l a s s i c c h e e s e b u r g e r w a s c o o ke d t o p e r fe c t i o n , f a u l t l e s s a n d t e n d e r . While the BBQ Te x a s c h i c ke n a n d p u l l e d p o r k melt were juicy and flavoursome. During our meal we also ordered a selection of Mocktails from the new menu. The mocktails ordered were refreshing and thirst quenching, with the Appleberry especially stood out, bursting full with fresh apple flavours. Ta s t y, q u i c k a n d e a s y t o m a ke , t h e fo l lowing recipes will help you refuel after a long day of studying, or l i n e y o u r s t o m a c h b e fo r e a h e a v y n i g h t o f d r i n k i n g . Cheat Meatballs and Spaghetti Yo u ’ l l n e e d : 2 pork sausages ½ onion 1 garlic clove 1 red, yellow or orange pepper 2 or 3 medium sized mushrooms 1 small tin of chopped tomatoes 1 teaspoon of dried oregano or Italian seasoning 70grams of spaghetti 1 tablespoon of oil H a n d f u l o f g r a t e d c h e e s e (o p t i o n a l ) What to do - F i l l u p a ke t t l e w i t h w a t e r a n d s e t t o b o i l . Meanwhile, chop the onions, garlic and pepper into small pieces. - Squeeze the sausage meat out of the cases and roll into small balls. Heat a frying pan with the tablespoon of oil and gently fry the sausage balls until golden brown, about ten minutes. - Po u r t h e b o i l i n g ke t t l e w a t e r i n t o a l a r g e saucepan, season with salt and cook the spag h e t t i a c c o r d i n g t o t h e p a c ke t i n s t r u c t i o n s . - O n c e t h e s a u s a g e b a l l s a r e c o o ke d t h r o u g h ( a f t e r a b o u t 1 5 m i n u t e s ) t a ke o u t o f t h e f r y i n g pan and set aside. Discard some but not all of the oil that will have collected. Add the onions, pepper and garlic to the pan and sauté fo r t e n m i n u t e s u n t i l s o f t e n e d . A d d t h e m u s h rooms, tinned tomatoes and the herbs to the vegetables, adding a splash of water if the sauce s e e m s t o o d r y. A d d t h e s a u s a g e b a l l s b a c k i n t o the sauce to heat. - D r a i n t h e p a s t a o n c e i t i s c o o ke d , s e r v e i n a large pasta bowl and top with the sausage meatballs and sauce, and a sprinkling of cheese if you wish

S p i c y C h i c ke n B u r r i t o s Yo u’ l l n e e d : 1 c h i c ke n b r e a s t , c h o p p e d A handful of veggies of your choice (peppers and onions work well, but try other combinat i o n s t o o , l i ke m u s h r o o m s a n d s p i n a c h , o r b u t ternut squash) 1 Te a s p o o n + o f s p i c e s s u c h a s c h i l l i f l a ke s , cumin or paprika 2 large tortilla wraps 1 c u p o f c o o ke d w h i t e o r b r o w n r i c e (c o o ke d fresh or leftover) ½ tin of black beans, drained and rinsed. 2 - 4 t a b l e s p o o n s o f s a l s a , h o t s a u c e o r N a n d o’s sauce (as spicy as you dare) A handful of grated cheddar cheese 1 tbsp of oil Pre-heat the oven to 200degrees What to do: - Heat the oil in a large frying pan over a med i u m h e a t . G e n t l y f r y t h e c h i c ke n , s p r i n k l i n g o v e r a t e a s p o o n o f t h e s p i c e s u n t i l t h e c h i c ke n i s c o o ke d , t h i s s h o u l d t a ke a b o u t 1 0 - 1 5 m i n utes. - Throw in the veggies and the black beans and c o o k fo r a b o u t 1 0 m i n u t e s o r u n t i l t h e v e g e t a bles have began to soften. - Lay out your tortilla wraps. In the centre of e a c h w r a p , s p o o n a fe w t a b l e s p o o n s o f t h e rice, laying it out in a line about 1inch from the edge of the wrap. - To p t h e r i c e w i t h y o u r c h i c ke n a n d v e g e t a b l e mixture, splitting the mix evenly between the two wraps. Sprinkle each with a handful of the cheese, and a dollop of whatever spicy sauce you have chosen. - Fo l d t h e e d g e n e a r e s t t o y o u o v e r t h e f i l l i n g , a n d fo l d i n t h e s i d e s , b e fo r e r o l l i n g u p . - Brush a little oil onto a baking tray and place t h e b u r r i t o s s e a m d o w n o n t o t h e t r a y. t u d e n t s a r e m a s s i v e l y a f fe c t ed by mental health problems s u c h a s a n x i e t y. U W E h a v e r e c e n t ly brought out a mobile app called SAM which aims to help you monitor and manage your anxiety by tracking your levels on a graph over time and comment next to the anxiety level what triggered it, discover and apply self-help techniques, as well as calming mechanisms and sharing advice; as odd as it sounds, hearing someone else going through it really helps control the panic attacks. Normal anxiety is the reaction we have in stressful situations such a s b e fo r e a n e x a m , t h e n e r v e s a n d fast heartbeat and this is completely normal during difficult o r s t r e s s f u l s i t u a t i o n s . H o w e v e r, if you find yourself having reocc u r r i n g t h o u g h t s a n d t h e n fe e l a physical overwhelming sense of

panic this can be issue. Although anxiety causes physical symptoms, it is actually a mental health issue that needs to be sorted otherwise y o u’ l l f i n d y o u r s e l f w o r r y i n g d a i ly and frozen from a panic attack that can occur at any time.
